Project/role:
The ABS is building a new cloud data lake and analysis environment powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). This environment will provide modern analytical tools, scalable storage and scalable compute power for ABS staff producing statistics based on new 'big data' datasets as well as ABS survey data.
In this role, students would join a multi-disciplinary team and work with supervision on tasks that may include:
Creating automated data processing 'pipelines' by writing Python or SQL, and using cloud native services like AWS Step Functions, Glue and Lambda
Configuring AWS cloud services, including data analysis tools Sagemaker, Athena and Quicksight
Experimenting with new AWS cloud services to determine if they would make a useful addition to the data lake
Assisting ABS staff to use the data lake to process and analyse data

Ideal Degree/Discipline
IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, or other related degrees
Eligibility Requirements
Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
No preference on citizenship requirements
Identify as having disability
Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
