Position Overview

The Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC) was established on 1 April 2014 through amendments to the Public Administration Act 2004. The VPSC is headed by a commissioner and has a range of legislated functions to achieve its objectives.

The VPSC has a leadership role in modelling and promoting the Public Sector values.

The Victorian Leadership Academy (VLA) has been established to develop Victorian Public Service (VPS) executive leaders so that they empower and engage our people and create a trusted and service-oriented culture on behalf of the community.

The VLA's development approach to its programs and activities is founded on global best practice and incorporates contemporary adult learning principles. Participants reflect on their leadership experiences and challenges, gain insights into their personal leadership strengths and identify further opportunities for growth.

The VLA is implementing the executive leadership program across the VPS with five cohorts of executives currently participating in the program. The VLA is also designing and implementing the leadership development of executives and Deputy Secretaries across the VPS.

The intern will assist by providing administrative support to deliver the leadership development for executives to enable the VLA to develop the executive capability required to meet the priorities of the VPS. With support, the intern will manage event logistics and initial queries to the team.

With support and under supervision, duties include:

Coordinating logistical elements and resource planning of executive development opportunities ensuring high quality, timely deliverables,

Providing administrative services, including maintaining attendance and participation records, printing and postage, meeting and event coordination, records management, and correspondence to support the effective operation of the VLA,

Participating in end-to-end executive development projects,

Maintaining and improving systems and processes to support the VLA's strategic and operational objectives, contributing to stakeholder satisfaction and evaluation processes,

Building and maintaining effective relationships, representing the VPSC with internal and external stakeholders and be a key contact for VLA enquiries through the VLA phone line and email inbox.

Currently undertaking final or penultimate year of undergraduate degree or Juris Doctor

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

No preference on citizenship requirements

Identify as having disability

Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
