BarDrawer (1.7.7) Database operating manual

System requirements

1. PC：Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 2003 Server / 2008 Server / 2008R2

Server

2. Software: BarDrawer 1.7.7

3. Printer：T4 series 200/300 DPI, F/W 1.0.32 later version

Functions

1. Database linking method: via ODBC

2. Database linking quantity: provide one database file only in one label

3. Database types： Microsoft Access (*.mdb)

Mocrosoft Excel (*.xls, *.xlsx, *.xlsm, *.xlsb)

Text file (*.dat, *.txt, *.csv)

Microsoft SQL Server

4. Database supports:

Label printing mode

Text object, paragraph object, 1D barcode object, 2D barcode

object print, multiple labels print。5. Database printing mode：

Selectable database record or use command to select database

record.

BarDrawer provide the following way to set copy in print

quantity: immediate, Copy field and Database field.

Provide prompt string to let user to set the panel.

Starting database functions

1. Database function will be executed while creating a new “Label” type in

selecting printer driver.

2. Please re-create a new label and copy all the objects to the new created

label when wrong printing type is selected and copy all the objects to the

new created label. The database function will be executed after setting the

database function.

General database linking functions

1. Select firstly “File\Database setup” or click the icon in tool bar to setup

database. Press “Add” button to start “Add Database Wizard”.

2. Following image below shown, select the database type, as “Microsoft

Excel” and press “Next” button. (資料庫選取應為 Excel)

3. Press “Browse” button to select a database source file, as image show.

Then, press “Next” to next step.

4. Select a sheet in “Available tables” and press “Finish” to link database.

5. Reconfirm all the information and press “OK”.

6. Database information could be also reconfirmed in “Browse” page

SQL server link function

1. Select File\Database setup” or click the icon “ to start database

function. Press “Add” to execute “Add Database Wizard”.

2. Follow the image below show, as Microsoft SQL Server” and press “Next”

button. (資料庫選取應為 SQL)

3. After entering SQL Server name in ”Server Name” field and login

information, press “Get Database list” to get database list in Server and

select the database. Press “Next” button.

(Before linking to SQL Server, the computer should install SQL Express or

SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect to SQL Server.)

Ex:

This computer SQL Server: Server Name = (Local)\SQLEXPRESS,

other computer SQL Server: Server Name = XXXXXX -> you could

get other Server name via SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Login: you could use sa account name and password (the password

is bland after installing SQL Express) or Use Windows Integrated

Security” to login SQL server. (確認及下一步應為英文)

4. Select a sheet in “Available Tables” and press “OK”

5. Reconfirm all the information and press “OK”.

Object links to database

BarDrawer provides Text object, Paragraph object, 1D barcode object or

2D barcode object as data source.

1. After linking to database, create an object in edit area and double-click on

mouse left button to enter to attribute dialogue to add database source.

2. In Attribute dialogue, select “Database” in Sub-string source.

3. Set it up by requirement and press “OK”.

Field name：Select the required filed to get the data.

Max. characters：Exceed characters will be deleted automatically.

Prompt text：System will created it automatically or can be modified

manually. It is for predict the text width in editing area.

4. The object in edit area will be changed to Prompt text after setup.

Database print+Records selection

BarDrawer provides the following ways to select records in database to

print:

Select records or use command to select

“Immediate”, “Copy field” and “Sheet filed” are provided to set in print

copy quantity

Starting record could make user to set the starting print record

If “Enable database” is selected in print dialogue, database linking function

will be executed and could set the records printing quantity. There are

three ways to select printing records: Immediate, Copy field and Database

field.(OEM版沒有改到)

Immediate mode

1. Print option provides the following functions in selecting “Immediate” mode

“Number of label copies” means to set all the database records

into the same print copy number.

Command field, command could be enter to select printing record,

but s command will be neglected.

i. 1,3,5,7,9 means to print and copy one label in 1st , 3rd , 5th , 7th

and 9th records.

ii. 2-5,8-23 means to print and copy one label from 2nd to 5th and

8th to 23rd

iii. 1... means to print and copy one label for each record

iv. 5... means to print and copy one label from 5th record.

v. 1 means to print and copy one label in 1st record

“All records” means to print one

label for each record.

“First record” means to print and

copy one lable for first record.

Pressing “Select record” button will

show the “Select record” dialogue

to let user to select which record

needed to be printed.

2. In “Select Record” dialogue, it

provides on left side a function to

let user to select printing record or

set the starting print record.

“Selected Record” will be changed

synchronously by the record you

select.

3. After selecting the print record, command field will be changed

synchronously to what you select. Press “OK” to quit.

4. The selected record will be changed to command in print dialogue. Check

the command field if the printing records are correct to print.

Copy field mode

1. Print option provides the following functions by selecting “Copy Field”

mode in Number of label copies:

Printing quantity for each record could be set in “Selected

Records”.

Add the definition of “s” command to set printing quantity.

The printing record and copies number could be set by command

field by s command:

i. 1s4,3,5s2,7,9s4 means to print 1st record 4 copies, 3rd record 1

copy, 5th record 2 copies, 7th record 1 copy, 9th record 4 copies.

ii. 2-5,8-23s7 means to print from 2nd to 5th 1 copy, 8th to 23rd 7

copies.

iii. 1...s3 means to print 3 copies for each record.

iv. 5... means to print 1 copy from 5th record.

v. 1s8 means to print 1st records 8 copies only.

If “All records is selected, it means to print 1 copy for each record.

“First Recored” button means to print 1 copy for 1st record.

If “Selected Records” button is pressed, the “Selected Record” will

show to let user to select which record and copy number to print.

2. In “Selected Records” dialogue, print option provides on left side the

function to let user to select which record needed to printer, modify in

“Copy field” copy number and starting record. The selected record and

value of copy field will be changed synchronously by command. Likewise,

the command field will be changed by selected record and entered value.

Double-click on mouse left button to change the copy number.

3. Check and confirm the command field after changing the selected record

and copy number.

Database field mode

1. In Number of label copies, the drop-down list provide any field in database

sheet as data source.

The value of number of label copies comes from the database

field.

If the value is 0 or blank in database field, the record will not be

printed.

2. Copy number could be reviewed in “Selected Records” dialogue.

3. The number of label copied is based on the specified field in database.

Make sure in print mode dialogue and print.

Multiple label printing function

The print mode of database linking function supports single and multiple

labels print.

1. Select File\Page setup or click the icon in tool bar to edit the page.

Select “Label setup” page to set multiple labels.

2. After the setup of multiple labels and go back to main edit area, the label

size is smaller than before. Adjust the object in edit area.

3. In print mode, the preview will show the multiple labels printing result.

4. Press “Preview” button to see the printing result.
