Installation Ceremony of Rtn Er Ashok Kumar Puri as President and his Team for 2018-19 On July 26, 2018 our Club had one of the most important and interesting events of the Rotary Year, that is, the Installation ceremony of Rtn Ashok Puri as President and his Team for 2018-19 at CII Convention Centre, Sector 31, Chandigarh. PRIP Raja Saboo Er Naresh Palta Chief Guest Past RI President Rajendra K Saboo congratulated our President 2017-18 Rtn Dr Rita Kalra for her outstanding display of leadership to be adjudged the best Club in the District and getting the running trophy, and another trophy for TB projects. He inspired President 2018-19 Rtn Ashok Puri to continue the good work and achieve greater glory and scale new heights for the cause of Rotary. Guest of Honour Er Naresh Palta was introduced by PP Rtn Er Harish Sethi. Mr Palta is Former Executive Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bengaluru. He had graduated from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in 1969 with President Ashok Puri. After retirement, he had important assignments in Bengaluru. Mr Palta came to Chandigarh all the way from Bengaluru to congratulate his close friend and batch mate Rtn Ashok Puri and wish him good luck for a very successful year as the President of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown. In his address he emphasized that Rotary spirit is embodied in two words, Passion and Energy. He was very impressed by the spirit of Rotary and appreciated the contributions of Rotarians to the Society. Lighting of Lamp. Rotary Chandigarh Midtown continued with its END TB Project this Rotary Year also by distributing Nutrients (Soyabean Atta) to 150 TB patients. 60 patients were given one packet each of 1 KG at Civil Dispensary, Ram Darbar, Phase 2, Chandigarh and remaining 90 packets were given at State TB Cell, Sector 34, Chandigarh for onward distribution to various TB dispensaries of Chandigarh. Inauguration of Global Grant - Happy School at GMS, Sector 45, Chandigarh

On 24/07/2018 our club inaugurated facilities provided at Government Middle School, Burail, Sector 45, Chandigarh. In an Interactive session President Rtn Ashok Puri briefed the students about Rotary’s service to community and its role in polio eradication. Our club has provided this school with two Library Cabinets. Primary Contact for GG Happy Schools PP Rtn Amarjit Singh gave the background of this project and explained various features of specially designed school bags which were presented to 14 meritorious students. MOU was signed with school authorities for proper upkeep of the equipment. On behalf of School, Mrs Narinder Kaur thanked Rotary for the support and issued a letter of gratitude addressed to our President.

Project at GMSS Sector 20-D, Chandigarh As invited by NSS programme officer Mrs Parminder Kaur Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown and Rotaract Club of Le Corbusier held three activities on 24/07/2018 at Govt Model Sr Sec School, Sector 20-D Chandigarh. Trees were planted to educate the students about environment. Children were inspired to contribute for the betterment of society as they showed interest in the activities to bring the change in the society. Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown present were President Rtn Ashok Puri, Secretary Rtn Salil Chopra, IPP Rtn Dr Rita Kalra and PP Rtn Vinod Java. Rotaractors of Le Corbusier IPP Rtr Nandan, Rtr Sahil, Rtr Bhupraj and Rtr Deepak were also present.
