GCSE grades matter!
Looking further ahead, GCSE grades can be important for university applications.
For example - medicine:
• Birmingham University requires A* grades in each of English, Mathematics and Science/s. Overall GCSE performance will also be considered
• Nottingham University requires at least six subjects at grade A including all three Sciences or the double Science award.

Vivo is the world’s most popular and successful rewards platform.
Awarding Vivos
Teachers can award Vivosstraight to a student’s account or give a student paper Vivoswhich the student can then load up themselves.
How to log-on to a Vivo account
Go to www.vivoedge or the Vivo Edge App (which can easily be downloaded).
The student enters their username, password and domain. (If they have forgotten any of these, they can ask their tutor who knows what to do.)

On their home page students will find:
• Your Vivos – showing the vivos they have earned so far
• Earn Vivos – an area where they can earn more vivos
• Badges - these can be ‘unlocked’ and more Vivos earned
• League tables – a way to compete with classes/friends
• Games - where students can play educational games to improve their maths skills

There’s also World View
In World View there are squares. Each square is a different article, video or competition. Students simply click on square, explore and learn. They can discover new ideas, learn about charities, healthy living, sports, art and much more!
They can win prizes by entering competitions.
At the end of every term the ten students with the greatest number of Vivo points awarded that term will receive Amazon vouchers.

• On Firefly students can:
• Access home learning in one place
• Access extra resources for specific subjects
Home Learning
• Home learning is gathered
together on a student’s
dashboard for them to see in
order of due date, or set date.
• The teacher can give them
feedback following a home
learning submission, or
remind them that a home
learning is due soon if they
haven’t yet submitted it
Accessing resources
• Subject resources are placed onto
subject areas by staff.
• These can be added to by student
request and normally give extra
context than was covered in the
lesson.

Assessment without levels?
• Since September 2015,national curriculum levels have been removed from years 7 , 8 and 9.
• All schools have had to decide their own system for assessment without levels
• At the end of year 11 all students will sit GCSE exams and be given a scale of 1 to 9.
• The new system is personalised to your child where students are assessed each term against the knowledge, skills and understanding they have demonstrated within each subject

How have we banded?
• We have used your child’s KS2 levels as a guide to produce suggested bands
• Baseline assessments, progress checks, classwork and home learning has also informed the setting of these bands
• Your child’s band is not set in stone and if a student performs consistently above their target band then there will be a target band change in the relevant subject.
