1. Better with 2 piles of flashcards but ok with 1(seediagram).
2. 2 teams A B3. Number students in each team (1 - 6)4. Teacher says number5. Student with corresponding number runs out of
seat, picks up 1 flashcard from each pile, runs toteacher, says words in correct order. In thisexample: colour + classroom object, runs back toseat (adults can write a sentence on board)

Flashcard Scrabble spelling game for YL, teens & adults (Activity 6) Preparation = make flashcardsscrabble pieces
3 or 4 pairs of chopsticksActivity = 15 20 mins
1. 3 teams A B C2. Scrabble pieces on floor (face down optional) with
chopsticks3. Teacher stands holding flashcard towards chest4. Students ask Y/N questions e.g. are you a doctor?5. Once teacher says yes, I am, student 1 runs to
scrabble pieces, uses chopsticks to pick up any letterin the word d-o-c-t-o-r.
6. Student 1A carries the letter & places it on 1 spellingdesk (either side of teacher).
7. Student 1A gives chopsticks to student 2A8. Student 2A + 3A + 4A repeats process until word has
been spelt correctly. 1 point for winners.
9. NB you dont have to use flashcards for this. Teachercan use actions to elicit the vocab or just say theword & 1 student can be teacher.

Running Dictations for YL (Activity 12)
Preparation = photocopyingActivity = 10 15 mins
1. Individually. 2. Good for Get Set Go books3. Make 1 photocopy (example above)4. Tippex/erase a few key speech bubbles5. Now make 1 copy for each student6. The erased speech bubbles should be retyped on
the computer and enlarged.
7. Randomly stick speech bubbles on corridor wall.8. Student runs out into corridor, remembers some words, returns to desk & gradually writes the speech
bubbles back in order, on their photocopy.9. After, students check with each other and their book.

Human Tape Player for kids (Activity 13) Preparation = photocopying +erasing phrases
