WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP—Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The award honors both male and female high school students who excell in academics, athletics and student leadership. Wichita State University Barton Schol of Business Scholarship Competition—Will be held on November 13, 2009. Up to sixty academically talented students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in accounting, buusiness administration, economics, entrepreneurship, dinance human resource management, international business, management, management information systems, or marketing will be invited to participate. Sscholarshipo awards range from $250 to the $44,000 Clay Barton Scholarship. A student MUST participate in this competition to be considered for the $44,000 Clay Barton Scholarship. NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award Scholarship—One student will be selected as the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” and will receive a $10,000 scholarship. There will be a minimum of 400 scholarship including non-renewable and renewable awards nationwide. Requirements for this award are:

Graduating high school senior who is entering their freshman year at an accredited two-or four year university, college or vocational institute in the fall of 2009*.

One who demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through examples such as –starting their own business; participating in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement, FBLA, FFA, NFTE, among others, or other initatives. Emporia State University Early Application Scholarship - Deadline October 24, 2008 The Early Application Scholarship is a one-time award for Kansas high school seniors with a 24 or higher ACT starting at ESU Fall 2009. An award of $1000.00 will be granted to students who qualify and have taken the ACT in June 2008 or before. Students have received a letter in the mail if they qualify for the scholarship. Danforth Scholars—Candidates for the Danforth Scholars program who have exhibited a capacity for service and leadership, as well as academic excellence, and who will embrace the challanges of a rigorous academic curriculum. We are especially interested in students who stand out among their peers for their maturity, strong moral character, selflessness, and commitment to community—qualities which embody the essence of the Danforths. Danforths may receive full or partial tuition scholarships. Horatio Alger Scholarship. To qualify for this scholarship you must be enrolled as a full-time high school progressing toward graduation in the Spring/Summer of 2010. You must also have in place plans to enter college no later than the fall following graduation. It must also be your intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution. You may start your studies at a two year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution. Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Applicant should be a U.S. citizen currently attending full time as a secondary senior anticipating in the Spring/Summer of 2010. Vocational Education Scholarship. This is for the full time student who enrolls in designated one/two year vocational programs at various Kansas area tech/schools/colleges community colleges, KSU-Salina, several four year colleges, proprietary schools. Only certificate and selected two year degree programs are included among the designated technical programs. Applicant must be a Kansas resident for at least one year, graduate form an accredited high school or GED program for Kansas Board of Regents. Plan to enroll full time in a designated vocational program in Kansas and take the designated vocational scholarship test. A $10 fee is required to take the test. Davidson College John Montgomery Belk Scholarship—Ten Belk Scholars will be chosen in Davidson’s Class of 2013, each recieveing an annually renewable scholarship equivalent to the college’s comprehensive fees, valued in 2008-2009 at $42,950. In addition, ach scholar recieves two summer stipends (up to $3,000 per stipend) to pursue international study and other enrichment opportunities. Voice of Democracy Competition—Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is Service and Sacrifice by America’s Veterans Benefit Today’s Youth by…. The Voice of Democracy is open to students in 9-12 grades who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or in an overseas U.S. military/civilian dependent school. To enter record your original 3-5 minute (+ or – 5 seconds) essay on a standard cassette tape or CD on this year’s theme. FIRE’s Freedom in Academia Essay Scholarship--Instructions: Go to FIRE's website at www.thefire.org and familiarize yourself with FIRE and FIRE's issues. Watch two short videos about real students who were censored and punished for speech that is protected by the U.S. Constitution. Video #1: FIRE in Action: Valdosta State University This short film highlights FIRE's fight against Valdosta State University's (VSU's) unconstitutional free speech zone policy and chronicles FIRE's victory on behalf of VSU student T. Hayden Barnes, who was expelled for engaging in a peaceful protest. Video #2: Think What We Think? Or Else: Thought Control on the American Campus In the fall of 2007, the University of Delaware's Office of Residence Life employed mandatory dormitory activities to coerce students to change their thoughts, habits, and values to conform to a highly specified ideological agenda. Following FIRE's campaign, which called the attention of the national media to the Orwellian program and outraged people from all over the political spectrum, UD President Patrick Harker terminated the program. You should also view some of FIRE's other videos and read through posts on FIRE's blog The Torch to gain a deeper understanding of FIRE's mission and activities. Answer the Essay Question: In 700-1200 words, please discuss the videos you have seen and explain how these universities betrayed the purpose of a university and violated the constitutional guarantees of free expression. Washburn University Garvey Competitive Scholarship. The Garvey is a Washburn-only scholarship which is based on the results of the Garvey exam. High school seniors are eligible if they have at least a 3.25/4.0 GPA, have everything into the Admissions Office by November 12, 2008 and have filled out the registration form. The Garvey Exam will be given three times in 2008. The first and third exams will be given on Nov. 22nd & Dec. 10 in Topeka, Kansas. The second exam will be given in Hays on Dec 6th. Student must be registered for the exam they want to take, the exam can be taken only once. To be eligible to take the Garvey exam, student must turn in their application for admission, online signature sheet (if application was completed on line), $20 application fee, official high school transcript, and ACT score (either sent form high school or ACT), along with completing the Garvey Registration for by November 12, 2008. AMERICAL LEGION NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ORATORICAL CONTEST—Each year, many high school students compete for over $138,00 in scholarships. This program helps students receive a better understanding of the United States Constitution, and gain a deeper respect and knowledge of duties as American citizens. Annually, the Department of Kansas awards $2,400 as follows—the winner receives a $1,500 scholarship when he or she represents Kansas in the National Finals contest. The next three places in Kansas receive $500, $250 and $150 in scholarships. Many Posts, County Councils, and Districts also provide scholarships. Margaret Van Horn Scholarship—This scholarship is open to business students who wish to continue their education and pursue an office related career, preferably in the educational field. The scholarship will be available to students interested in the field of office related business education attending any accredited educational facility within the State of Kansas. Examples are: four-year Colleges Universities, Community Colleges, Business Colleges, technical Colleges, and Area technical Schools. Dependent on the availability of funds, two $300.00 scholarships could be awarded. One scholarship will be awarded to a student with a 3.5 or higher GPA. This student scholarship winner will be the KAEOP applicant for the NAEOP Marion T. Wood Scholarship for students. The second scholarship will be awarded to a student with a 2.5 to 3.4999 GPA. The student must have taken two or more courses form among the following: typing, shorthand, accounting, office practice, and procedures, and/or bookkeeping. KNEES—Kansas Northeast Educational Secretaries Scholarship Program—The scholarship will be available to students interested only in the field of business (office) education, attending any accredited educational facility within the State of Kansas. One $100.00 scholarship will be awarded. Scholarship initiative and financial need will be the criteria for selection of the recipient. One scholarship will be given to a student with a GPA of 3.0-4.0. The percentages are: 60% Academic, 20% Financial Need and 10% Initiative. Applications must be returned to the scholarship committee chairman on or before January 4, 2008. The winner wil be given the opportunity to apply for the State KAEOP Scholarship and that deadline is January 7, 2009. The State KAEOP Scholarship is valued at $300.

CREATING A GREEN NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN ESSAY CONTEST—This contest is open to students who meet the following criteria: (1) High school junior or senior during the 2007-08 academic year; (2) enrolled in a public or private high school, in high school equivalency program, or in a program of hime schooling recognized by the local school system; and (3) are residents of the United States or U.S. Territory, or who are U.S. citizens living abraod. OTTAWA UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION—This event is a way for students to compete for full tuition scholarships. In order for a student to be invited to participate in this scholarship program, he or she must apply and be accepted, as well as submit a resume to Ottawa University, in addition to meeting the 3 criteria listed: have a minimum GPA of 3.5, ACT Composite of 25 or SAT Total of 1130-1200 and rank in the upper 1/3 of the class. The competition will consist of an essay, written by each student on February 24, 2007, the day of the competition, and an interview with faculty and administrators of Ottawa University. Simon Youth Foundation—Community Scholarship Program—The SYF Community Scholarship Program is available to any high school senior, living in s community that hosts a Simon property, who plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two– or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,200. Selection procedures includes the consideration of financial need, past academic performance and future potential, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of career and educational aspirations and goals and outside appraisals. University of Kansas—The Hixon Opportunity Award—The Hixson Opportunity Award was established to provide the opportunity for students to attend the University of Kansas who would otherwise not be able to attend. Student must be admissible to the University of Kansas and be entering freshman for the upcoming fall term at KU. THE ART INSTITUTES BEST TEEN CHEF CULINARY SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION—Competition is open to graduating high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Complete entry form, include a copy of your high school transcript. An essay with a minimum of 250 words that address why you’d like to be a culinary professional, who inspires you, and the reason you’d like to attend The Art Institute where you are entering the competition. You also need to include a notebook that includes a menu with descriptions for a two course meal—including appetizer, soup or salad, and a main course with sauce, garnish, vegetable, and starch. Please include detailed recipes and directions for each course. Also include an image of each course and an image that include all the courses. Based on entry information and materials a select number of winners will be chosen to advance to the local cook-off competition. Approximately 10 semi-finalists from each participating Art Institute will be chosen to compete in local cook-offs on March 14, 2009. The first place winners from each participating school will compete for tuition scholarships and the coveted title of Best Teen Chef on May 9, 2009. AFA TEENS SCHOLARSHIP--To help students express themselves on the topic of Alzheimer’s disease, the AFA Teen, a branch of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, has created an annual scholarship. The organization will be offering $5,000 to one college-bound student.The AFA Teen encourages eligible junior and senior high school students to share their experiences and thoughts on the subject of Alzheimer’s by applying. Students will need to write a 1,200 to 1,500 word essay about the impact that Alzheimer’s disease has had on their lives. A completed application and a short, 200 word biography will also be required. Prize: $5,000. Eligibility: 1. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. 2. KADPF (The Kansas Association of Directors of Plant Facilities) Scholarship—This scholarship is available to graduating seniors of custodial workers who wish to continue their educational the college level. Applicants must be resident of Kansas and graduate from a Kansas high school and plan to attend a Kansas college. KADPF will award one $250, $500 and $1,000 scholarship three qualifying students. The Virginia Endly Scholarship--H. Merle Endly, whose family has a long history with Emporia State University dating back to early 1900s when ESU was Kansas State Normal School, established this scholarship to honor his sister Virginia Endly. The scholarship will be equal to current undergraduate in-state tuition and fees, the current Resident Hall fee (double room) including the full meal plan, and the current average cost of books for a full-time student in good academic standing. Recipients are eligible to reapply.In addition to completing the application, each applicant must submit an essay on the importance of this scholarship in completing his/her educational goals and official transcripts from all schools attended. U.S. “Udie” Grant Scholarship-One $500 scholarship, $250 at the start of each semester in any one school year. The applicant must be a so, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a member of the Kansas Sons of The American Legion or a member of the Kansas Sons of The American Legion for the past three years.

AMERICAN LEGION MUSIC COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP—This $1,000 scholarship is available to all Kansa highs school seniors, college level freshmen or sophomores who have distinguished themselves in the field of music and/or who will major or minor in music at an approved Kansas junior college, college, or university. AMERICAN LEGION SHOOTING SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP—An outright grant of $500. Applicants of this scholarship must be a Kansas high school senior or college level freshman, who has participated in an American Legion Shooting Sports program in the State and Regional levels. AMERICAN LEGION HOBBLE (LPN) NURSING SCHOLARSHIP—This is an outright grant of $300 (payable one time) at the start of the first semester, awarded only upon acceptance and verification of enrollment by the scholarship winner in an accredited Kansas school which awards a diploma for Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN ).The applicant must have attained age 18 prior to taking the Kansas State Board Examination. THE NATIONAL CO-OPSCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM—To qualify for this scholarship, students must complete all the required admissions applications materials and be accepted for the 2007-2008 academic year at one of the National

JEFFERSON COUNTY EDUCATIONAL EXTENSION UNIT (JECEEU)—SCHOLARSHIPS—The JECEEU has four scholarships available the year. This includes tow $200 Jefferson County Educational Extension Unit scholarship and two $200 Futures Scholarships given by a JCEEU member. Applicants that are eligible to apply need to be a resident of Jefferson County, be a high school senior or college freshman, have a GPA oof 2.5 or higher. Do not have to be a 4-H member to apply. Applicants will be considered for all four scholarships with one applications if they meet all the scholarship requirements. One requirement is that they attend an in-state institution. To apply for this scholarship request an application form for Melanie in the office. Each applicant must submit a transcript of grades and have two letters of recommendations. Each applicant will also be asked for a personal interview before a selection committee. The interview date is March 9, 2009, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., at the Meadowlark District Extension Office, Courthouse Basement, Oskaloosa. Application deadline is March 2, 2009.

IRENE MUTCH THOMSON ELECTRA PROVINCE SCHOLARSHIP—This $1.450 scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic years will be awarded to a student who has proven their need for funancial assistance and will attend college or university in the state of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska. The recipient must have declared a major in the fine aarts field (music, art, dance or theatre). Applications can be obtained through the office from Mrs. Bostwick. Applications must be received by March 1, 2009.

AMERICAN LEGION EAGLE SCOUT OF THE YEAR—The American Legion Life Insurance Trust Fund provides for a $10,000 National Scholarship to be awarded to the Eagle Scout who is selected :the American Legion Scout of the Year”. The individual selected will be named by the National Americanism Commission during the annual National Spring Meetings. Three runner-up scholarships at $2,500 each have been added to the scholarship awards. The Department of Kansas also gives a $500 scholarship to the Kansas Scout of the Year. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS—The James W. Gibbions Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Colombus, Topeka, KS, will award a Financial Assistance Award of $1,000 to a graduating senior from the geographical area. KANSAS ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGIATE REGISTRARS AND ADMISSIONS OFFICERS—The Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO) offer scholarships to reward students who have demonstrated quality leadership during their high school years. There are four $500.00 awards available for the 2008-2009 school year, which may be used at KACRAO member institutions. The awards are not need-based and may be used in conjunction with other awards. To be considered students must be a senior at a Kansas high school; have a seventh semester GPA of at least 3.25; minimum ACT of 22 or SAT-I combined of 1020. Student must submit a complete application form and one page essay; a letter of reference fro a school offical (counselor, teacher, principal etc.); a letter of reference fro a community leader (business leader, club sponsor, employer, church leader, etc.); a completed “Verification from Guidance Counselor” form. SENATOR ROBERT J. DOLE PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM—Must be a graduating high school senior, maintain an 3.0 GPA or higher, be involved in a significant amount of volunteer community service projects or public service activities. FRANK AND MABEL KOENITZER-SAYLES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP—This scholarship is given in memory of Mabel Koenitzer-Sayles and Frank Sayles. Both lived in the Meriden community their entire lives. Because of the family legacy and Mr. Sayles philanthropic desire to support youth, several graduating students from Jefferson West will receive a scholarship to continue their education. Students are welcome to apply for a scholarship in the spring prior to graduating from Jefferson West High School. Applicants should show strength of character, enterprise, and personal initiative. Special consideration will be given to those students who are unique, with a strong interest in school or community activities. These well-rounded students need not be the highest academic achievers—but should exhibit enthusiasm, ambition, and all round merit. THE DILLENKOFFER ENDOWMENT—The Dillenkoffer Endowment was established to support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered teens with college tuition grants in Kansas and Missouri. Beginning in 2007, the Endowment will award at least one 4 year scholarship of up to $10,000 annually. The scholarship is limited to student in Kansas and Missouri who have achieved a 2.75 GPA or higher and are active in their communities and schools. THE MERIDEN/OZAWKIE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERENCE-- One of the Chamber’s first commitments was to support the youth of the community through a $2,000 scholarship for Jefferson West High School seniors. The

scholarship is for $500 per year renewable for up to four years. The scholarships may to be applied toward tuition costs, fees, books, and housing. Scholarship payments will be made upon proof of enrollment in a qualified school. The committee, in keeping with the Chamber mission, will give special consideration to those students who plan to pursue a business career benefiting the local community. A strong employment record or dedication to community service in addition to continuous academic achievement will factor in the candidate’s favor. Applicants should show evidence of ethics and a potential to succeed professionally. To apply you must meet the following criteria: High school senior, currently attending Jefferson West High School, Cumulative 3.5 Grade Point Average, and Plan to attend a Kansas University, College, or Technical School, Enroll as a full-time student with at least 12 hours of study for the initial Fall Semester. Subsequent annual awards are dependent upon successful completion of a total of 24 credit hours per year with a minimum GPA of 3.0 as verified through a transcript and such documentation is solely the responsibility of the applicant. IRVIN AND DOROTHY KECK SCHOLARSHIP— The Keck family sponsors this scholarship in honor of their parents who were both part of this community. Mr Keck served as principal of the Ozawkie High School and as Principal and teachcer for the Meriden Grade School, and later as Superintendent of the Jefferson West School District. Mrs Keck worked in the Middle School Library for several years. They are offering a $250 scholarship to be used towards, tuition, books, and other college expenses. KANSAS JUNIOR GOLF SCHOLARSHIP—The Kansas Golf Association will award five scholarships for 2008-09. This is an academic scholarship, but in order to be eligible, a student must have participated in junior golf activities, including high school golf. Scholarships are awarded to graduating Kansas high school seniors based on academic performance, leadership, a written essay and financial need. The grant is $1250 per school year and is renewable for up to four years. Recipients must attend a Kansas college or university, including community college. RYAN MCKEITHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP-- This $500 scholarship is being given in memory of Mr. Ryan McKeithan, a long-time JWHS Debate Coach. JEFFERSON WEST BOOSTER CLUB— Jefferson West Booster Club will award four $500.00 scholarships, to four deserving Jefferson West High School seniors. The scholarship is not limited to tuition only, but may be used for the purchase of books, payment of fees, supplies or other expenses required. The scholarship will be divided into two payments, 1 payment per semester in the amount of $250.00. Applications can be obtained from the high school counselor. Selection of the recipients will be by a panel of impartial judges selected by the Jefferson West Booster Club. A representative from the Booster Club, preferably one of the high school representatives, will announce the scholarship recipients at the Academic Award Night held in the spring. The recipients will receive a letter informing them of their award with further instructions to complete the scholarship process. Application MUST be received by April 15, 2009 to Jefferson West High School in a sealed envelope.

KANSAS MASONIC FOUNDATION STUDENT LOAN/SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM—Low interest loans are available each year from the Kansas Masonic foundation to Kansas residents attending a Kansas institution of higher learning as a full-time student. These multi-year loans are designed to assist a student throughout a 1,2,3, or 4 year educational process. Repayment starts one year after the completion of school and is accomplished over a 4-year period with increasing annual payments at a 5% or less interest rate on the principal. Students are required to maintain at least a 2.0 semester GPA and remain a full-time student. Student who have been in our loan program for at least two years ; remain a full-time student; have and maintain a 3.5 cum GPA; and major in certain areas of study may qualify for one of these scholarships. CYNTHIA RUTH RUSSLE MEMORIAL GRANT—This is for the physically challenged (handicapped) from the Kansas Masonic Foundation . Must be a Kansas resident, attend a Kansas institution of higher education, maintain at least a cum GPA of 2.5 and be a full-time student to qualify. If approved for a grant you must maintain at lease a 2.5 cum GPA and complete at least 12 hours each semester. Applications available in office. Deadline is April 12. 2009.

KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY—SIGMA PHI EPSILON —BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP—THE Kansas Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship . The chapter is offering one scholarship worth $1,000, one worth $500 and two worth $250 . The only requirement for these scholarships is that the applicants are incoming male freshmen attending Kansas State University in the fall of 2008. We are looking for men demonstrating outstanding excellence in all aspects of scholastics and extracurricular activities. The applicant is no way bound to future membership Sigma Phi Epsilon, or even the Greek system. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILLARY, BICENTINNIAL UNIT 225 SCHOLARSHIP—The American Legion Auxiliary is offering one $250 scholarship to a graduating senior from one of our area high schools. The committee will give priority consideration to financial need and the applicant's choice field of study. A family member of Unit 225 or a family member of Post 225’s adjuncts (American Legion, Sons of the American Legion) must sponsor applicants for this scholarship. STEVE HARPER SCHOLARSHIP—This scholarship is awarded on the basis of past or currnet involvement in the natural resources or photography area, strenght of application, academic performance and financial need. This is a $1,000 scholarship for Kansas high school seniors who will be attending a Kansas college and majoriing in either natural resources or photography curriculum. KANSAS SOCIETY OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, INC SCHOLARSHIP—A total of six thousand, eight hundred dollars ($6,800) will be awarded. These scholarships will be offered without regard to financial need, they will be awarded to students who rank high in the ACT or SAT examination, will attend a Kansas University or college and plan to major in accounting. Interested students should ask their testing company, teacher or counselor to send a copy of their ACT or SAT scores , together with verification of the student’s home address, to the KSCPA Educational Foundation. The deadline for submission of test scores is March 3, 2008. Once test scores have been received, a questionnaire/short essay form will be sent to the student. AYN RAND’S ANTHEM—This is an essay contest open to students worldwide. The essay must be no fewer than 800 words and nor more that 1,500 words in length. Essay must be post marked no later than April 25, 2009, work must be solely the work of the entrant. There are tow divisions 9th and 10th graders and 11th and 12th graders. KANSAS NURSING SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP—This scholarship requires an obligation to practice as a LPN or RN in Kansas and work for a sponsor. A sponsor means any adult care home, psychiatric hospital, medical care facility, home health agency, local health department or any state agency, which employs LPN’s or RN’s licensed by the State of Kansas. The sponsor will provide partial scholarship funding and provide employment upon licensure of the recipient. Al applicants must complete the FAFSA. Minimum criteria includes acceptance to a Kansas nursing program, commitment by an eligible sponsor licensed by the state to fund up to half of the scholarship and provide full time employment to the recipient after licensure. Recipients enrolled in the LPN program are eligible for $2,500. Those enrolled in the RN program are eligible for $3,500 each year. Sponsors pay from $1,00 to one half of the scholarship and the State of Kansas pays the remaining amount. There are specific obligations that go with the scholarship. KANSAS TEACHER SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP—This scholarship is designed to encourage talented students to enter the teaching profession in specific curriculum areas or underserved geographic areas in the State. The hare-to-fill areas for recipients selected in 2007 are: special education, math, science and music. The underserved geographic area identified for 2007 are: USD 416 Louisburg, USD 373 Newton, USD 500 Kansas City, Kansas, and USD 259 Wichita. Recipients sign an agreement to complete the program of study and teach for one year for each year of the scholarship support. Please note that there is also a specific Math & Science Teacher Service Scholarship as well. There is a different service obligation for that program. Recipients must teach two years for each year of scholarship support received. If you wish to apply for both programs to increase your opportunity for scholarship please note that the KBOR office will select the program that you will be awarded. Individuals applying for the math or science disciplines, within the Kansas teacher Service Scholarship program, will be prioritized in awarding based on merit and application receipt date. Applicants must be enrolled in on the specified areas of a teacher education program and some combination of the following: completion of the Kansas Scholars Curriculum , ACT or SAT score; high school GPA; and class rank. Scholarship recipients receive $5,000 each academic year and the scholarship may be received four years. Recipients area advised to be seriously committed to teaching in Kansas one year for each year of scholarship support. If the recipient selects a different major or curriculum emphasis or does not teach in Kansas in the specified curriculum or underserved geographic area, the scholarship converts to a loan with interest accruing from the date the scholarship was received.
