Day 2 - Movement

Slide Cardby Kelly Marie AlvarezCard size: 52" x 44"

Instructions1. Cut two teal cardstock panels (54" x 4").

2. Stamp images (deer, bird, mistletoe, heart bubble) in Memento ink (Tuxedo Black) on white cardstock. Color using Copic markers, as shown in the Day 2 video. Add accents using a white Gel Pen.

3. Die cut each image using the coordinating die or cut out with scissors.

4. Position a Slide On Over die along the curve of a coordinating Stitched Hillside Border die on a white cardstock panel. Secure the Stitched Hillside Border die in place using low-tack tape. Die cut the panel to create a curved-edge, hill panel.

5. Position the hill panel on one teal cardstock panel, lining up the bottom edges.

6. Position the Slide On Over die from Step 4 on the card, lining it up along the top edge of the hill. Secure the Silde On Over die in place using low-tack tape, and set the hill panel aside. Die cut the panel to create a slider track panel.

7. Prepare the top half of the slider track panel for embossing using a powder tool or powder bag. Stamp a greeting (“All I want for Christmas is you”) along the top edge of the panel in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss the greeting using white embossing powder.

8. Fold a length of foam tape in thirds, sticking it back on itself to create triple-thick foam tape. Apply the triple-thick foam tape to the back of the slider track panel, along the edges of the panel. Do not remove the backing/release paper at this time. Note: You may need to cut the foam in half width-wise in order to ensure the slider track is not blocked.

9. Place a penny on the back of the slider track panel, positioning it directly over the die-cut track. Apply triple-thick foam tape along either side of the track, leaving enough space for the penny to slide easily between the barriers. Do not remove the backing/release paper at this time.

10. Trim a small piece of triple-thick foam tape so it fits easily inside the track.

11. Turn the slider track panel over, front up. Hold the penny behind the track so you can see it through the track, and apply the small piece of triple-thick foam tape to the penny. Do not remove the backing/release paper at this time.

12. Using a powder tool, apply powder to the sides of the foam to prevent any adhesive on the edges of the tape from sticking to the slider track. Also apply powder to the back of the slider track panel, along the edges of the track.

13. Remove the backing/release paper from the foam tape on the penny. Holding the penny in place with the foam in the track, line up the hill panel as a guide, and adhere one die-cut image (deer) to the penny to create your slider.

14. Adhere the hill panel to the slider track panel, tucking the top edge under the die-cut image/slider and lining up the bottom edges.

15. Using thin foam adhesive, adhere the remaining die cuts to the panel to create a scene, as shown in the Day 2 video.

16. Remove the backing/release paper from the remaining triple-thick foam tape strips. Adhere the second teal cardstock panel to the slider-track panel, enclosing the penny and securing the slider.

17. Wrap baker’s twine around the completed slider panel, adhering the ends to the back of the panel. Tie a small bow from another length of baker’s twine, and adhere the bow to the front of the panel using a Glue Dot.

18. Using a white Gel Pen, draw dash lines around the edges of the slider panel to create faux stitching.

19. Adhere a red cardstock panel (52" x 44") to a landscape-oriented, top-folding white card.

20. Adhere the slider panel to the card.

Alternate Slider InstructionsIf you do not have a Slide On Over die, follow these instructions to create a basic slider.

1. Using a pencil and ruler, mark a cardstock panel at 2" from the bottom and side edges, resulting in two mark points, one at each end.

2. Using a standard hole punch (typically 4" circle), punch a hole at each mark point.

3. Line up a metal ruler (or hill panel) along the bottom edges of the two holes, and cut from hole to hole using a craft knife.

4. Line up a metal ruler (or hill panel) along the top edges of the two holes, and cut from hole to hole using a craft knife.

5. Remove the cardstock strip from between the holes to create a slider track.

Option: If you’re following these instructions to replace Steps 4-6 in the card instructions—and feeling handy with a craft knife—use a die-cut hill panel as a guide for measuring your mark points and cutting. Try die cutting your guide hill from acetate for a sturdier template and so you don’t accidentally cut the panel you’re planning on using for you’re card.

Tips & Tricks to Note• Create your own triple-thick foam for sliders that glide with

ease! Just fold a length of foam tape back on itself three

times.

• The trick to a better slider experience? Powder! Get your

powder tool, and apply it to the foam on your slider and

inside the track. No stickiness allowed!

• Faux bows are where it’s at when you don’t feel like fussing

with tying a long piece of twine. Tie the bow separately and

adhere it in place.

Pull Tab Cardby Chari MossCard size: 44" x 52"

Instructions1. Apply two strips of Post-It tape to a 44" x 52"

white cardstock panel, creating a masked triangle from the top of the panel to a center point.

2. Using an Ink Blending Tool, apply Distress Ink in a circular motion, working from the tape out into the open triangle area of the panel. Blend two colors as shown in the Day 2 video.

3. Reposition the tape, leaving a white triangle between the previous and next “ray”, and repeat ink application as shown in the Day 2 video.

4. Repeat Step 3 to create a sunray background, using a t-ruler to help you evenly space your rays.

5. Allow the first round of color to dry completely. Repeat Step 3 to fill in the white areas using two additional colors of Distress Ink, as shown in the Day 2 video.

6. Stamp two alternate-facing critters (flamingos) in black (Licorice) ink. Color each image using colored pencils, as shown in the Day 2 video. Cut out each image or die cut using coordinating dies.

7. Die cut a Stitched Hillside border from the top of a 44" x 52" kraft cardstock panel. Repeat to cut the border along the bottom edge of the panel, as well. This creates a rounded edge panel.

8. Turn the rounded edge panel horizontal, and cut the panel in half to create two matching hill panels, one for the slider track and one for the background. Trim any excess to ensure the panels match exactly.

9. Position one of the hill panels (slider track) on the sunray panel. Position the critters on the panel, and use them as a guide to position a slider die. Die cut the slider track from the hill panel.

10. Position this slider-track hill panel on the second hill panel (background), and mark the track window using a pencil.

11. Using a ruler, measure the width of the marked track on the background hill panel (4"). Cut a strip of kraft cardstock slightly wider than the width of the track (2"). This is your slider pull.

12. Position the slider pull on the background hill panel, covering the marked track. Trace the edges of the slider pull to mark where it will sit.

13. Adhere a small piece of cardstock to the end of the slider pull to serve as a stopper.

14. Cut a strip of foam tape in half to create two thin strips. Apply one strip above the slider mark on the background hill panel. Do not remove the release paper at this time.

15. Position the slider pull on the background hill panel, and determine where the slider pull needs to stop. Mark where foam tape should be applied in order for the stopper to hit it. Mark where foam tape should be applied in order for the stopper to hit it at the other end when the slider is pushed in all the way.

16. Apply foam tape around the markings on the background hill panel. Cover the rest of the background hill panel with foam tape. Do not remove the release paper at this time.

17. Nest the slider pull in place. Remove the release paper from the foam tape. Press the slider-track hill panel into the adhesive, lining up the edges with those of the background hill panel.

18. Ensure the slider pull in pushed in all the way. Cut a small piece of foam tape, and apply it to the slider pull at the left side of the track. Adhere the left-facing critter to the slider pull.

19. Pull the slider pull outward, moving the left-facing critter to the other end of the track. Adhere the right-facing critter to the slider-track panel, just outside the slider track, using the left-facing critter as a guide for placement. Make sure to not apply adhesive to any areas of the critter that would overlap the track.

20. Stamp additional images and a greeting (“We flamingo together”) in Versafine ink to create a silhouette scene on the sunray panel.

21. Cut a small panel of blue (Mermaid) cardstock, and die-cut a wavy border from the top edge. Adhere the water panel to the slider-track panel.

22. Die cut a panel of turquoise (Peacock) cardstock using a scalloped, stitched rectangle die. Adhere the sunray panel to the panel.

23. Adhere the slider-track panel to the sunray panel.

24. Adhere the completed panel to a top-folding white card.

25. Using a Corner Chomper, round the end of the slider pull. Adhere a small die-cut heart to the end of the slider pull.

26. Adhere another small heart just above where the two critters meet when the slider is pulled.

27. Embellish the card using markers and glitter glue.

Tips & Tricks to Note• Plan out your pull tab card design ahead of time on scratch

paper, including a sketch of where you’ll place the slider

mechanism. That way, you’ll know that all your elements,

including the slider mechanism, will fit on your card.

• When creating a pull tab card, don’t forget to cut a second

panel to sit behind the slider track—when the slider moves,

the area behind the slider is revealed, and you want that

area to match the foreground.

Magic Slider Cardby Kristina WernerCard size: 52" x 44"

Instructions1. Print out the PDF containing the template for

this card, and cut the template piece marked “acetate” from the rest of the sheet.

2. Temporarily adhere the template marked “acetate” to a sheet of clear plastic or acetate. Cut out the acetate panel using a ruler and craft knife. Do not remove the template piece from the acetate at this time—this will help you keep track of the acetate panel on your work surface.

3. Temporarily adhere the remainder of the template sheet to white cardstock (Bristol). Cut out each piece using a ruler and craft knife.

4. Position the card base on a scoring board, and score the fold at 58".

5. Open the card, and position it inside a MISTI tool. Secure the card using low-tack tape. Mark the grid paper inside the MISTI along the edges of the card.

6. Close the card. Using a pencil, lightly trace the window to create a placement guide inside the card. Anything stamped inside the guide will display in the window with the card is closed.

7. Position a greeting stamp (“I love your true colors”) inside the window guide, and mount the stamp by closing the MISTI. Stamp the greeting inside the card in Versafine ink (Onyx Black).

8. Position a large flower image on the card, overlapping the window guide. Mount the stamp by closing the MISTI. Stamp the flowers inside the card in Versafine ink. Do not remove the stamp at this time.

19

9. Place a piece of scratch paper over the stamping inside the card, and close the card. Secure the card closed inside the MISTI using low-tack tape.

10. Stamp the flowers on the front of the card using Versafine ink. Do not remove the stamp. Clean the Versafine ink from the stamp.

11. Remove the template from the acetate piece, using an adhesive eraser and alcohol swab to remove any remaining adhesive.

12. Open the card, and place the acetate directly over the window guide, nesting the edge into the fold of the card. Secure the edge near the fold using low-tack tape. Slide a piece of scratch paper between the acetate and the inside of the card, and secure using low-tack tape.

13. Stamp the flowers on the acetate using StazOn ink (Jet Black). Set the acetate aside, leaving the low-tack tape on the edge. Allow the StazOn ink to dry completely.

14. Remove the card from the MISTI. Clean the stamp. Allow the ink on the card to set completely before continuing.

15. Erase all pencil lines inside the card.

16. Watercolor the flowers on the card front using gray Clean Color markers and a damp paintbrush, as shown in the Day 2 video.

17. Remove the template piece from the slider. With the card open, position the slider on the back of the card front, behind the window. Nest the slider into the fold. Using a pencil, lightly mark the top and bottom edges of the slider. Using a craft knife, cut a thin slot in the card fold between the two marks, over-cutting slightly to create an opening that is just wider than the slider.

18. Remove the template piece from the slider stopper. Adhere the slider stopper to the bottom/straight edge of the slider using thin, strong adhesive tape.

19. Place the slider inside the card, tucking the top/round end into the slot. Secure using low-tack tape.

20. Remove the template piece from the smaller slider track. Apply thin, strong adhesive tape to the slider track. Adhere the slider track inside the card, to the left of the slider—this will stop the slider from slipping into the pocket when it’s pushed all the way in.

21. Remove the template pieces from the longer slider tracks. Apply thin, strong adhesive tape to each long slider track.

22. Remove the low-tack tape from the slider, and pull it out as far as the slider stopper will allow.

23. Lightly adhere the first long slider track above the slider. Align the left end of the long track with the smaller slider track and right end with the slider stopper. Ensure the long track touches both pieces. Press to firmly secure.

24. Repeat Step 23 to adhere the second long track below the slider.

25. Remove the slider, and set it aside.

26. Watercolor the flowers and background inside the slider track using Clean Color markers and a damp paintbrush, as shown in the Day 2 video. Allow the watercolor to dry completely or heat set.

27. Apply thin, strong adhesive tape around the window on the back of the card front.

28. Position the image on the acetate piece directly over the colored image inside the card. Secure the acetate using low-tack tape. Close the card, and press down to adhere the acetate to the back of the card front.

29. Apply low-tack tape to mask off the rounded end of the slider. This will protect the rest of the slider while you decorate the tab end.

30. Using an Ink Blending Tool, apply gray ink (Charcoal) to the tab. Stamp diagonal lines on the inked tab using the same ink for a tonal effect.

31. Apply adhesive to the slider tracks, and on the top and side edges inside of the card (six strips). Remove the release paper.

32. Place the slider inside the card, tucking the tab end into the slot. Pull it out as far as the slider stopper will allow. Close the card, securing the front to the inside to create a finished magic slider card.

Tips & Tricks to Note• We recommend cutting out each template piece

using a craft or X-acto knife to achieve beautiful,

precise cuts. The more precise your cuts, the better

this card will turn out. Rather than pressing hard with

the knife, go over each cut two or three times, using

a ruler as a guide.

• The easiest way to cut out the window is to use

your ruler on the outside of the lines—this way, you

can see all of the lines and ensure that you don’t

over-cut.

• If you don’t have a MISTI tool, we highly

recommend having some form of stamp

positioner on hand for this design. The secret

to this card is in precise image placement, and a

positioner makes all the difference in the world

when you go to line up those images!

Spinner Cardby Kelly LatevolaCard size: 44" x 52"

Instructions1. Stamp a greeting (“Just checking in to say

‘Hi’”) on the top of the sticky note. Using a black pen and a ruler, sketch a rustic board shape around the greeting. Cut out the rustic board sticky note to create a mask.

2. Place a white cardstock panel in a MISTI. Position a tree stamp on the cardstock. Lifting the tree stamp, lightly adhere the rustic board mask to the cardstock in the area you want to mask when you stamp the tree. Mount the tree stamp.

3. Ink the tree stamp with black dye ink, wiping the ink from any branch areas using a baby wipe or paper towel. Stamp the tree trunk on the panel, over the mask.

4. Adhere a sticky note to the panel, covering the portion of the trunk just below the rustic board mask.

5. Reposition the tree stamp so the top of the stamp overhangs the rustic board mask. Ink the top of the stamp, and stamp the image. This creates a taller tree than achievable with the single stamped image.

6. Using a Copic-safe pen, draw any lines needed to create a visual connection between the top of the tree and the bottom.

7. Position critter, additional branch, and accessory stamps on the panel, masking off portions of the tree with a sticky note as needed. Stamp the images in black dye ink to create a scene, as shown in the Day 2 video.

8. Using the same Copic-safe pen, trace the rustic board mask to create an outline. Do not remove the mask.

22

9. Stamp the critter, branch, and accessory images on sticky notes, and cut out each image to create masks. Apply the masks over the corresponding images on the stamped panel. Do not worry about masking off the tree.

10. Using an Ink Blending Tool, working in a circular motion, apply a green shade of Distress Ink to the bottom of the panel to create grass.

11. Using an Ink Blending Tool, apply multiple blue shades of Distress Ink to the top portion of the panel, over the masked images, as shown in the Day 2 video.

12. Remove the masks.

13. Using a craft knife, cut away the center hole in the tree image. If you do not have a hole as part of your tree image, cut a roughly shaped oval in the center of the tree. Clean up the edges using a nail file. Color the inside edges of the cutout area using a Copic-safe black marker.

14. Die cut a circle from white cardstock.

15. Using a pencil and ruler, lightly draw a vertical line down the center of the circle. Draw a horizontal line across the center of the circle.

16. Place the circle behind the opening in the tree panel, lining up the pencil crosshair in the center of the opening. Shift the circle to the left. Trace the opening onto the circle. Repeat, shifting the circle to the right prior to tracing.

17. Position the circle in the MISTI and place the tree panel over the circle, lining up the opening with the corresponding traced outline. Place a critter stamp on the panel, over the opening. Mount the stamp. Remove the tree panel.

18. Stamp the critter in black dye ink on the circle.

19. Turn the circle upside down. Repeat Steps 17 and 18 to stamp a different critter on the other side of the circle. The critters will be upside down to each other.

20. Hold the circle behind the tree panel and line up the first stamped critter with the hole in the tree. Hold the panel up to the light so you can see through it, and mark the center point of the circle on the tree panel using a pencil.

21. Pierce a hole through the marking on the tree panel using a craft knife or paper piercer. Pierce a hole through the center of the circle. Place a brad through the hole in the tree panel and the hole in the circle. Spin the circle and ensure that it moves freely before proceeding. You may need to adjust the size of your brad holes.

22. Incorporate the brad hole into the tree trunk by drawing onto the tree and making the trunk wider using the Copic-safe black pen.

23. Color the tree panel and spinner using Copic Markers as shown in the Day 2 video.

24. Draw “nail” details on the rustic board using a Copic-safe pen.

25. Place the colored tree panel in the MISTI. Position the greeting stamp from Step 1 on the rustic board area. Mount the stamp. Stamp the greeting in black dye ink.
