Ramadhan is time of taqwa.

Fear for Allah is a joy. In Surah Ar Rahman / 46 :

تان )ولمن هۦ جن (٦٤خاف مقام رب But for him who feareth the standing before his Lord there are two gardens. (46)

: Al Khauf is defined as a feeling of pain in the

heart out of fear for the future. BUT for the

believer , this Fear is full of joy

This feeling , fear , make you do your best

in life & serves as a protection. So Fear is a

safeguard for a human . Fear is like a

burning in the heart out of fear of

something bad in the future

One who hastens towards Allah

actually NEED THAT FEAR . The

faster to Allah you are , the more

fear is needed.

On the way to Allah, the people will remain on

the way to Allah for as long as they have

the fear in their heart . This is positive fear full

of joy.

The Heart where

fear has departed

will be corrupted &

ruined. Power of

fear will give strength

& will reform the

heart .

We all to keep moving on the way of Allah. Some lead while others lag

on this way . Fear in the heart behind . We do not want to lose being

reforms it , keeping the person on track.

The perfect state for the person on the way to Allah is :

LOVE > hope = fear

Khauf should be equivalent to

hope but mahabbah should be

more than HOPE OR FEAR. The

LOVE for Allah must be the head . Power of mahabbah : It is

the conditions of La ilaha illa Allah . Without LOVE , then La

ilaha illa Allah is not complete. Hence you need LOVE but

Khauf & Raja* is necessary to have .

Degree of KHAUF / Darajaat ul Khauf :

1. Primary fear (Must exist) : Fearing of punishment & torture.

People with no fear of punishment of Allah it will show in their

actions (underestimating Allah , not fulfilling what Allah wants &

exceeding their boundaries) .

(a) Fearing of punishment of Allah,

(b) Fearing Hellfire, These are the

(c) Fearing the bad ins essential fears.

(d) Fear of punishment of grave ,

(e) Fear from sins which will take him to destruction

These are the primary fears . Punishment mentioned in the Quran or Hadith is essential fear ; this is

primary fear which is essential to have in our life to stay on the straight path .

2. A higher level of fear : fear of his own self, hence always AWARE & ALERT of his own self

In addition to fearing the

punishment, the person is afraid

for himself from himself because

he knows he can make himself go

towards destruction , so he fears to

be inclined to his own self . When he

is trusting & believing his own self, it

is him himself who takes him to

destruction . eg proud, self

importance. Hence he is alert from

his own self – always aware & alert of the (wrong) path he can take himself into .

3. The best level of fear : fearing the Majesty & Greatness of Allah .

The more you know about Allah, the more you fear

Him . This fear is full of JOY because you are fearing

your Creator , the One Most Greatest , who deserves

to be feared. Humans have so many fears but fearing

Allah brings you Honor & Joy. This makes you attach

to Allah.

You normally escape from what you fear . But

when you fear Allah , you will flee to Him . The

more you fear Him, the more you run to Him .

Allah Himself makes us close or far from Him .

When I am far from Allah , I know that Allah will

bring me close to Him. What will make us close to

Allah & flee to Him the Fearing of Allah .

Surah Baqarah , Ayat 2/235

: Allah Knows what is in your

heart so be aware & fear

Allah. Wa’lamu / you need to

know He is Most Forgiving &

Forebearing. This makes

us self analyse & cautious .

When we fear Allah , it will make you hang & attach to

Allah, & flee to Him. So this fear of Allah make you NOT

go far from Allah but TOWARDS Allah.

What is way of that fear of Allah ?

We want the highest level of fear ; so what makes us fear Allah . People fear Allah’s punishment ,

fear of themselves or they fear

Allah ( the highest level of fear).

The highest level of fear is

achieved by the :

Knowledge about Allah

– this gives the highest benefit.

Allah said in the Quran : Men of knowledge among His slaves are the ones who are afraid of

Allah.

The more we know about Allah, the

more we fear Him , the All Mighty , Oft

Forgiving. Hence the more you flee to

Allah.

What Knowledge makes us fear Allah more ? :-

(1) The Knowledge on Allah’s

Ability upon us which encompasses

everyone else’s ability . When you

know Allah & His Ability, this make us

fear Allah more.

(1) Allah Knowledge encompasses all -

He Knows whatever is apparent or

hidden. Hence you fear Him because

HE Knows everything about you : In &

out, past & future, what is said & what

is in the heart.

(2) To know about Hikmat Allah : When you know Allah

is All Wise , you will not worry about what Allah does, gives or

takes. Allah has Full Wisdom. This knowledge will make you

fear Him more .

These are the FEAR. That is why / fear of

the Mukmin is a joy to him. Not the type of fear that is bad

or negative. In Islam , that FEAR is full of joy because it

keeps you going in the life. Full of JOY from fearing Allah.

FEAR FOR THE MUKMIN has :

Sweetness

Peace

Tranquility

Joy

To believe to Allah’s Pleasure, he need to primarily feel afraid

of Allah before even fearing the fire of Hell because Allah is the

ONE who Creates Hell. So the Mukmin who feel fear of Allah

will feel sweetness, peace , tranquility and joy.

WHAT IS THE POWER OF THE FEAR ?

If he feels fear , what power will he have? See Surah Al Anbia* / 90 :

Allah said that those who hasten towards

goodness because they are

invoking Allah,

hoping & fearing from Him &

humbling themselves before Allah

.

Hastening towards the goodness needs doa but you need fear + hope in ur heart to humble to Allah.

This makes one run to goodness.

So the power of fear is :

(1) HASTENING TOWARDS GOODNESS . When you run to goodness ,

you will need doa ( with fear, hope in the heart). Humble to Allah. This fear

, hope while doa while being humble. Make him run to goodness.

(2) Eternal Goodness ie Paradise – Surah Rahman in the beginning of this

notes – Allah give 2 gardens to the one who fears Allah

(3) the security in the DOJ – he will not be afraid in the DOJ . Hadith : “

Allah will not combine 2 fears or 2 securities in the heart of the slave” . “ If

you are afraid in this Dunia from Allah & from this punishment, then Allah

will give you the security in the DOJ” . Fear is mean to give security

(4) Expiation of the sins

When you are afraid from Hellfire, from yourself & from Allah, then He will forgive your sins. In

Islam, actions of heart has so much rewards . Ibadat ul qulub is powerful – this will keep you

going , keep you enjoying in this Life. Hadith : “ a man was sinning , transgressing against himself

. He left a Will that when he dies, he asked to burn him & scatter his ashes in the ocean. After he

died, the family carried out his Will . Rasulullah said Allah resurrected that man & asked why he

did this. The man said , ‘out of fear from you ‘ . Because of that fear . Allah expiated his sins ”.

This Hadith shows the power of the fear.

(5) Fear will burn the desire in the heart . People who are so weak

when they desire sins. But the power of the fear will straight away

burn the sinful desire .

(6) Power of the fear will make one to dislike the sins

. Fear makes one hate the sin , making it look very ugly.

(7) The power of fear will discipline our limbs. Tongue, mind, all the limbs, all will be disciplined

because of the fear in the heart

(8) Fear make him humble to Allah .

(9) Power of fear will solve problem of the

self, solve the weakness . People do nto

like to feel fear. Sins make them afraid .

The beneficial fear come from pure &

clean heart – fearing Allah when the

heart is clean & clear.

Power of fear make one hasten tow good, burn desire, take one

to Para, make hrt soft n humble, secu in DOJ, frgvness of siins,

disciplie of limbs *& it will be a remedy for an nafsil amaara bil

soo*. This is quwwat al khauf. Fear is powerful to make one

abstain fr sins *& hasten tow Allah.

“O Allah, I take refuge within your pleasure from your displeasue. : “ and within your Pardon

from your Punishment, And I take refuge in you from you . “ . I cannot innumerate Your Praises .

you are the One who Praise Yourself.

We ask Allah to protect us from ourselves sins n satan & Make us hasten towards the pleasure

of Allah .
