UWECI Partnership Responsibilities

• Planning, administration and evaluation functions for Day of Caring

• Media coverage • Recruiting volunteers • Training agencies, company coordinators and

volunteers• Provide best practices and other resources

Agency Partnership Responsibilities

• Accurately represent and describe projects• Provide tools, materials necessary to complete

project when possible• Meet with company coordinator prior to DOC• Obtain liability and photo releases for

volunteers• Report volunteer hours and outcomes• Provide safe environment

Before the Day of Caring

• Agencies submit projects or their wish list• United Way approves projects and enters

projects online• Create Sneak Peek project list• Company prioritizes • Companies register for projects• UWECI will approve all company/agency

matches.

Register your volunteers

• Email will include date registration will open and the link to register.

• Please register your entire group at once for a project. If you have additional (or fewer) members after signing up, please notify the Agency.

• Please consider the opportunities that match the number of volunteers in your group first

• Small groups registering for larger project may prohibit larger groups from finding projects that will accommodate their size.

Communication

• You are the Day of Caring Connection to your group– Informed– Interested– Invested

• You are responsible for staying current with the agency and the planning– Maintain communication with the agency

• Rain date or contingency plan (discuss with agency in advance)

Volunteer Comments

• All details were not verified ahead of time by company coordinators, so time was wasted finalizing details

• Make sure that the location details are clearly communicated prior to the event.

• Signing in and completing waivers took a while• Assignment was not clear until that day on how to dress or if

supplies were needed• Provide phone #’s of teammates to improve communications• The communication between the coordinators and

volunteers was outstanding - very friendly and helpful.

Agency Comments

• Not able to connect with company coordinator prior to day

• Company backed out at last minute and left us in a tough position

• Company contacted us directly prior to registering for project, caused confusion

• The volunteer numbers changed a lot. This made planning a challenge
