INTRODUCTION: Social problems are defined as the struggles and hindrance of the societies’ development. Some people live a luxurious

life while others live in poverty, it is one of the implications brought about by unemployment, illiteracy and incompe-tence. But in ones everyday life, there will always be that little light uncovered by sweat and hardships and that is shown

by that little curve on ones face and manifested by the warmth of family and friends. A smile can always brighten up anyones day and that is what you will discover in this photoessay. A story of common people striving for living but has

never failed to put on a smile on their faces. Through this photoessay, you will see a story of smiles. This photoessay will entail one story of hope and happiness that can cover and wipe away the sweats of hardships through captured images.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: This photoessay aims to capture stories through images and window the life of sidewalk vendors and the importance of livelihood. This will por-tray a close-up look into a sidewalk vendor’s everyday life; her struggles and success, her triumphs and hardships. This will convey an undivided story about how sidewalk vendors keep themselves happy no matter the difficulties and show the reasons behind their heartening smiles.
