SCOPE OF THE JOB• Build a manhole outside the Orange Café.• Divert ex 16 inch water main.• Build a new CSO chamber along with a series of manholes and spill

pipes leading to Pymmes Brook. • Divert the existing sewer to flow through the new CSO chamber.• Installation of powered screen in the CSO with new heavy duty access

covers, this screen will reduce pollution to the nearby Pymmes Brook • The screen will then be commissioned.

PROGRAM FOR THE WORKS• Start delayed due to the Fore Street Tunnel Closures.• Start on site March 30th 2015• 3 week Christmas 2015 embargo• Expected finish at Easter 2016.

MANHOLE CAFÉ CHAMBER- In order to avoid services this was built with bricks. - Concrete reducing slab was poured and a channel was formed in the base- The Orange Café was closed for 2 months as a result.

WATER MAIN DIVERSION- CFA piling was undertaken at the position of both thrust blocks- 2 No. sections of the existing 16” main were cut out and replaced by new tee pieces which formed the diversion- 2 No. thrust blocks were poured - Pipe was laid in the 20m trench run- The main was pressure tested and made live, while the old main was cut out.

CSO (COMBINED SEWER OVERFLOW) CHAMBER- The walls were poured and a new channel formed on the base- A screen was be fixed onto the weir wall and was given power using a control kiosk situated on the footpath- Pipes were laid between the sewer and a series of manholes to connect with the existing foul and surface sewer system
