Loves’s Farewell
In tears I saw you sinking,
I watched you fade away
Like a good soldier on the field
You fought so hard to stay.
I would not wish you back again
Amid this world of care
For God in Heaven had called you home
And I shall meet you there.
I have sadly missed you
In every special way,
But I rejoice in knowing
I’ll see you again someday.
When you slipped into that peaceful sleep
You didn’t go alone
For part of me went with you
The day you left our home.
Though the pain will never leave me
My weakness will grow less
As I find new strength from darkness
In the truth that God will bless.
