UNIFORMS

We encourage a level of discipline in our genres and in the presentation of our students. A uniform is an important part of this discipline and helps students take pride in their appearance. The uniform also encourages the students to be part of team and is designed to allow teachers to observe dance technique, muscle use, posture and body placement, effectively. Students are required to have a full uniform for their particular genre. Full uniforms (including hair and footwear) are to be worn by the third week of the first term and to each class thereafter.

As this is a transitional year, students may continue to wear their red or black uniforms to class.

EXAMINATIONS IN DANCE

Examinations are held annually in the genre’s of ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and tap with the Australian Teachers of Dancing Ltd (ATOD). For more information on this organisation, feel free to visit their website, www.atod.net.au

Examinations, although encouraged, are not compulsory. An exam is a wonderful way to gain feedback, from an outside dance professional. It also serves as a worthy goal or achievement and can also lead to obtaining teacher qualifications.

ATOD examiners are pleasant, encouraging to students and reports are always constructive and comprehensive.

Students perform their examination in groups, not individually and teachers do assist at the preschool and test 1 level’s.

Dance3D students who choose to undertake an examination are provided with the highest quality of instruction, to ensure they are fully prepared for the examination.

Students can also experience examinations as a participant, this allows those who are new to dance or who feel they may not be ready to be examined, a great opportunity to participate and gain valuable feedback.

All participants are provided with a copy of their comprehensive report and a medal for each grade they successfully pass.

We pride ourselves in consistent pass rates for all examinations and will provide feedback to students who may not be ready for their examination. Private tuition is available for students who require extra lessons.

Rehearsals are held each year prior to examinations and students are strongly encouraged to attend. This session is complimentary to students and is treated like a mock examination, so it provides the students with valuable experience of the exam process.

Parents are welcome to attend all exam rehearsals.

Fees do apply for examinations and these are provided separately, normally during the beginning of term 2.

Examination fees are approximately between $35 - $40, depending on the grade.

OUR TEACHERS

We have a team of wonderful qualified teachers, who are passionate about dance. All teachers hold blue cards and are dedicated to continuing development of their skills and the skills of their students.

For more information about our teachers we invite you to view the staff page, on our website; www.dance3d.com.au

Runninglateormissedclasses

We encourage parents and students to arrive on time, however in the event students are late, we are happy to receive a phone message that will be passed onto the teacher.

We encourage students to attend every week. This ensures students receive the full benefit of our dance programs, particularly those choosing to do examinations. This is particularly important during concert choreography. Attendance weekly gives the student the best chance to master the dance choreography and develop the confidence they need to perform on stage. Dance at Dance3D also allows students to be part of a team and regular attendance encourages that.

Where consistent absences are recorded, students may not be able to perform in certain routines in our concert, particularly where pattern, partner or solo work is choreographed. We understand that it isn’t always possible to advise us, that you are unable to make it, however we are happy to receive a phone call (you can also leave a message - outside shop hours) and we will pass the absence information on to the teacher.

If you wish to discontinue with a particular class, please provide us with 2 weeks notice, by email, to assist us with planning of classes.

ATTENDING EXTERNAL DANCE CLASSES & AUDITIONS All registered students are required to ask for consent if they wish to attend dance classes, workshops or auditions at other dance establishments.
