Dear Parents/Carers, Week 5 Term 2 Tuesday, May 24 2016 The CPS Cross Country Team members should have returned their consent note and $10 - $5 for the bus and $5 entry fee for the NRPSSA. Please note all CPS students are expected to pay $10 irrespective of their travel arrangements. Mr Davis and Mr Richardson will be the supervising teachers for the Cross Country event. Last week provided many exciting events for everyone at CPS. The Big Bash drivers and the vehicles provided a great spectacle as they left the school grounds to continue their journey north. The school received a stack of donations of books, sports equipment and a sound system from the drivers and the variety club. Lilyanna Lyon-Clark was presented with a $100 book voucher as the staff nominated student who promotes peace and harmony. Fiona Russell, one of our hard working SLSOs, received a huge surprise when she got to have a helicopter ride from the school over the local area. Preston Taylor, Year 5 student, joined Fiona on the flight. Preston was nominated by staff because of his efforts in taking responsibility for his behavior and making the right choices. Fiona was nominated because of the enormous contribution she makes in supporting students to turn their playground interactions around to being positive and inclusive of others. The team effort of the P&C, Danielle and members of staff was second to none. The Variety Club organisers and drivers were very impressed with the breakfast and the organisation for the morning. Pride and satisfaction are two words to describe how we felt about how the students came into school on Thursday morning. They watched and participated in the sending off of the big bash vehicles and then moved so quickly and easily into positions to see the helicopter lift off. Fantastic! Well done everyone! The Governor of NSW and Mrs Hurley’s visit on Friday morning went very successfully and was enjoyed by everyone. After they visited the preschool, The Governor and Mrs Hurley joined the NSW State Library presentation for Stage 3. This added to the students’ learning experience by giving first-hand accounts of life at the Governor’s House, their roles and their life stories. The Governor and Mrs Hurley also visited 1S’s classroom and saw 4J’s onya circle in action. Our school was very fortunate to host the Governor’s visit and provide an opportunity to interact with the students as they were learning. Casino Public School is now enrolling children commencing Kinder in 2017. Firstly, a huge thank you to Danielle (Canteen) organising and running the breakfast for the Variety Bash competitors and crew last Thursday 19th May. There were almost 300 people who thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast before heading to Mullumbimby for the next leg of their journey. Big thank you to all the volunteers and teachers who were up very early to help make the event as successful as it was.
