The condition of the golf course has improved over previous years and with the additional water we now have access to we should be in a position to improve it even further this coming year. The fauna and flora are all doing well and the property is looking exceptionally green at the moment. Initial indications are that our Business Plan for 2019 will reflect marginal growth in volume and annual price increases. AND THE RAINS CAME !!!! The rain started falling in earnest late afternoon on New Year’s Eve. In the next 24 hours 140 mm was recorded.

The dam around the 9/18th hole received all the runoff and is

estimated to be 25% full. There is still more rain in the air so hopefully

the dam will fill even further. 247 mm rain was received during December.

Like last year the club was a hive of

activity throughout the month although this year the number of

golf rounds played was less than last year. Demand for breakfasts and lunch remained high. We are in

process of reviewing all our menus

and plan to produce a much improved offering before the end of January.

All in all 2018 was a good year for

Elements. Several properties were sold and transferred and seven new

homes are currently under construction. The Business Plan is on

target on both income and expenditure. The staff compliment has remained stable and supportive.

Many members and guests comment on the good level of friendly service

offered by all staff members. The condition of the golf course has

improved over previous years and with the additional water we now

have access to we should be in a position to improve it even further this coming year. The fauna and

flora are all doing well and the property is looking exceptionally green at the moment.

Initial indications are that our

Business Plan for 2019 will reflect marginal growth in volume and annual

price increases. Golf price adjustments have been held at less

than 10% effective 1st January. The 2019 price schedule is included in this news letter.

We all look forward to continuing to

provide service to you in 2019 and we look forward to continuing to

improve on those service levels wherever we can.

We wish all a wonderful, successful and peaceful 2019.

At the beginning of December the

course was still hard and dry before the rain began to fall during the

second week of the month. The course transformed almost overnight

and is now almost back to its’ best ever condition. The entire course

has been fertilized, including the semi-rough and the grass has reacted well. The fairways are still a

little patchy in places but this will recover within the next couple of months.

Attention is being paid to detail and

most golfers over the holiday season commented on this.

One of the concerns we have is the

fact that so many golfers dispose of their cigarette butts and bottle tops

on the course. The course staff work hard to keep the course as tidy as possible and then it is spoiled by this type of careless behavior.

We make an appeal to all golfers to

please respect the environment and fellow golfers by not disposing

cigarette butts and bottle tops on the golf course -thank you.

849 rounds were played during the

month which was 6 % above forecast. The most important consideration is

that all golfers enjoyed playing the course and almost everyone

commented on the condition and the service levels offered. This is most

encouraging and we hope that word of mouth will spread widely and that many more golfers will play Elements

as a result. Very favorable comments have also been received on all social media platforms.

The shop is well stocked and was well

supported with merchandize sales per round played reaching an all time high of R122.69.

Total revenue from golf for the year to date is on budget.

The new rules of golf come into play

on the 1st January and have to be complied with. If you have not yet

done so, please familiarize yourself with these new rules so that you do not get penalized for non compliance.

The estate is booming with young animals all over. It is such a bliss

driving around and seeing them playfully going about, yet being weary and aware of their surroundings.

Game that was often seen around the

estate during the last month includes: Nyala, Impala, Wildebeest, Waterbuck and Kudu.

Other animals that are were seen includes: Tree Squirrels, Yellow Mongoose, Banded Mongoose and a

few Vervet Monkeys and Baboons as well.

Almost all the migrant birds have now returned for the summer months.

The calls from the European Bee-eaters and the White-fronted Bee-eaters can be heard throughout the

day. Birds that were regularly seen or heard during the month of

October includes: Chinspot Batis, Greater Striped Swallow, Rock

Martin, Red-chested Cuckoo, Paradise Flycatcher, African Grey

Hornbill, Red-billed Wood Hoopoe, Cardinal Woodpecker, Burchell’s Coucal and the Grey Go-away-bird.

The landscape has turned beautifully green and fresh. The lush vegetation

can make game viewing a bit harder during this time. A great way to do some game viewing is from the Hide,

if you have not been there yet, we highly recommend that you make a

visit. Although the bigger game cannot always be seen, you can still

enjoy watching the birdlife and some other small animals around the water.

We have reported recently on our improved water availability status.

This has continued and apart from the 9th borehole, which was struck by

lightning, all other boreholes are performing well. With the excellent

rains during the last week of the month all the underground water

reserves will be replenished and our boreholes should deliver well into the future.

At the end of the three months ending December all houses that

consumed more than an average of 30,000 liters per month will be

charged for the excessive use of water.

For the first time on record not one

single house exceeded the maximum target consumption of 15,000 liters during the first two weeks of the

month. This is well done and we hope can be repeated regularly in the future.

As you are aware the Trustees have taken a decision to charge owners for

water consumption in excess of 30,000 liters per month measured on

a quarterly basis. This becomes effective from the last quarter of the year.

The annual 36 hole Better Ball

Stableford Tournament between Elements and Zebula was played on the 20th and 21st December.

This was a fun challenge event

between the members of Zebula and Elements played on both courses.

This year the first round was played on Elements and the second on

Zebula.

Zebula were the winners last year and

the Elements Team recaptured the trophy for 2018. Well done to all the

team players who excelled beyond expectation.

We hosted our first wedding with

120 guests in attendance. The hosts were totally satisfied with the

planning and arrangements made for the special occasion and they

together with all guests enjoyed the event to the fullest.

If any owner wishes to consider using

Elements as a Wedding or other special occasion venue please do not

hesitate to make contact with us. We

are available to meet your specific needs.

All the Matkovich courses in the

country have agreed to an inter club reciprocity agreement with

immediate effect. This means that all Elements members/owners will be

able to book and play any of those courses as Members. This adds yet

more value to owners who can now

play courses such as Cotswald Downs, Centurion, Arabella, de Zalze, and more at member rates.

We also draw your attention to the

Annual Club Championships which will be held over 36 holes on Saturday

27th and Sunday 28th April 2019. We are challenging ourselves to make

this the best ever and encourage you to reserve your house for that week

end and come and compete in the tournament.

Please feel free to contact us for any

concerns or suggestions you might

have. All the Trustee and Management contact information is

on the Elements website for your convenience.

General
