Holy Mary, Mother of God!
Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, on the first day
of the year 2022 we begin by remembering Saint Mary, the
Mother of God, thus once again we become happy
recipients of the Good News.
But ... what a great responsibility has come to Mary's
life, hope has come, God is present in the smallness and
weakness of a child. Mary at that moment has to assume the
responsibility of being a mother and recognizing the
humanity of this Divine Being who has come into her life
(and ours).
But how is that done, how is the child of God cared for?
Without a doubt, the Father would not place the Savior of
the world in the hands of someone who could not be the
Mother of the Son of God. Being who he is and coming
from the one who sent him does not make Mary not protect
him, nor does it make her neglect his education and his
integrity. “But Mary kept and meditated on everything in
her heart” (Lk 2:51) Precisely because she understands who
her child is, she dedicates herself to the protection and
maternal care of her son.
"Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I
have been very anguished while we were looking for you.
”(Lk. 2:48) The Virgin Mary, Mother of God, spares no effort to protect him from her conception, from
everything that could hurt him, from everything that was not good for her Son. “At that time, Mary made her
decision and went, without further delay, to a city located in the hills of Judah. She entered Zacharias's house
and greeted Elizabeth.” (Lk 1, 39-40)
Jesus recognizes the love of his Mother and as the good son that he is, he lives the efforts
and achievements of Mary for his good. “Meanwhile, Jesus grew in wisdom, in age and in grace, before God
and before men.” (Lk. 2:52) “Our high priest is not indifferent to our weaknesses, because he has been tested
in everything just like us, except for sin." (Heb 5, 15) Therefore without any selfishness, recognizing the
fragility that we have as imperfect men that we are, he gives us his Mother, Jesus is brother with us
“He said to the Mother: Woman, there you have your son. Then he said to the disciple: There you have your
Mother. " (Jn 19, 26-27) Thus, she is not only Holy Mary Mother of God, but now she is also our Mother,
what a great and precious gift Jesus gives us, we are not alone, now she also cares and protects us as she did
with Him.
Just as we received the Good News more than two thousand years ago, may this year, 2022, be full of
good news for the good of all humanity, may peace, harmony and health reign in our families and in the
whole world, having as inseparable center of our life Jesus and Mary most holy.
How great must Mary be that Jesus wanted her to be his Mother!
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among all women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Tu padre y yo hemos

Thank you for successful St. Patrick Men’s Club Bowling Tournament
The St. Patrick Church Men’s Club sends a cordial thank you and sincere blessings to all who made the annual bowling tournament fundraiser a
success recently at Jett Bowl. The money raised goes to high school student scholarships for parishioners, a tradition since the parish started in the
early 1970s with one $350 scholarship. This year’s bowling event was the first fundraiser since the Covid-19 pandemic. It was indeed a pleasant sight
to see both young and adult bowlers participating with their friends and family. More than 100 participated including Pastor,
the Very Rev. Anthony Mendoza. “Family entertainment, bringing families together,” a Men’s Club member noted. The Men’s Club, a group of 20
plus strong, raised at least $4,000. Please continue to support St. Patrick Church. Thank you!
