Seasons Greetings! We have so much to be
thankful for at DCS! In the month of October,
our elementary students began a new series
entitled “Sowing Good Seed.” The students
learned what the Word says about sowing and
reaping and are being challenged to become
laborers of the Lord’s harvest. Their verse was
Galatians 6:7-9:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for
whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh
reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit
will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us
not grow weary while doing good, for in due
season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Throughout the month of November and
continuing into December, the students will be
focusing on kindness and compassion. We look
forward to all that this time of year brings and
wish all of our families a blessed holiday season!

Last month, the DCS Band hosted a Saturday School for all beginning band students which included the 5th grade band and some new 6th grade band members. The students had the opportunity to work with four different instructors: Mr. Shaw, Ms. Elliott, Ms. Rodriguez, and Mr. Elliott. Each instructor worked with the students one-on-one, as well as in sections, on their specific instrument. They learned new notes and songs, how to properly care for and clean their instruments, and at-home practicing techniques. It was a very successful day! The beginning band students are progressing well this year. Many of them continue to go to the after school practice and help classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We look forward to watching their improvement as the year goes on.

Mrs. Hill’s and Mrs. Miles’ 4K students have
been learning about the human body and how
to make healthy choices.
Recently, the students had to create life-size
models of themselves and identify all of the
parts of the body.
To complete their lesson on health and
nutrition, the 4Kers visited Whole Foods
Market. They had so much fun learning about
the fruits and vegetables that God made and
how they help keep their bodies healthy. They
also tried a green smoothie made of spinach,
avocado, pineapple, and apple juice. It was so
good that some even asked for seconds! To
end the day, the students decorated cupcakes
and had a healthy lunch with their friends.
We love that these little ones are such curious
learners and pray they continue to live by the
healthy habits they have learned.
WE’VE GOT JOY! The J-O-Y award stands for Jesus, others, you. We are teaching our students to put Jesus first in their lives and think of others before themselves. Our verse is Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” The students can earn a JOY ticket for demonstrating kindness, and/or for exemplifying a joyful spirit. The teachers bring the earned tickets to chapel, put them in the envelope, and Mrs. Alexander pulls a ticket out of the envelope. That student earns lunch with the principal and the honor of hanging the JOY award on his/her classroom door. It becomes a great tool to encourage kindness, the antithesis of bullying. Our chapel theme this month is the biblical principle of kindness and compassion, coinciding perfectly with the JOY award.
November was a busy month for the second graders! They started with a
fun-filled field trip to Zoo Miami. It was a learning adventure that included
presentations with animals, Q & A time with the Zookeepers, Tram Rides,
Camel Rides, and much more! This month, the students focused on the
verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks.” They had a blast at
their Thanksgiving Feast celebration and shared
what they were thankful for. The following are
some of their responses: Jesus, family, friends,
food, health, Dade Christian School, pets, church
and home. In addition, the students had been
involved in a school-wide community service
project preparing shoeboxes filled with gifts for
Samaritan’s Purse. These boxes will help reach
children worldwide with the good news
of God’s love.

Recently, the third grade students had an opportunity to take an exciting field trip to the Creation Studies
Institute in Fort Lauderdale. Once there, the students received a special tour of the Creation Discovery Museum
where they learned about the dinosaurs and how they are referenced in the Bible! Students even participated in
hands-on workshops where they excavated dinosaur bones and made their very own fossil out of clay.
Mrs. Diaz’s and Mrs. Rodriguez’s classes enjoyed their afternoon of learning and dubbed the experience a “cool
field trip!”

“I have worked here for 15 years and I truly love
what I do.” –Mrs. Sandra Miles
This month’s faculty spotlight honoree is Mrs. Sandra Miles! The
Lord called her to teach at DCS 15 years ago, and she has
faithfully served our families ever since. It is evident Mrs. Miles
loves what she does. The always-fashionable teacher sat down
with us to share a little bit about herself and her role at DCS.
Q1: What classes and grade levels do you teach?
A: I teach 4K.
Q2: What do you love about Dade Christian School?
A: Lots of things! I love the community. I feel like we are a
family.
Q3: How do you try to provide a unique learning experience in
your classroom?
A: I try to make it fun because I teach the little ones. I try to do
hands-on, expressive things for them so that it’s easier for them
to remember.
Q4: What kind of impact do you wish to have on your
students?
A: That they would know that God loves us no matter who we
are or what we do, we just have to trust, have faith, and believe
in Him.
Q5: Anything else you would like to share?
A: I have worked here for 15 years and I truly love what I do. I
enjoy getting up in the morning and coming to school. Other
than that, my life revolves around my two boys and my husband.

Throughout the month of November, the babies in the EC have
been focusing on thankfulness, the Thanksgiving holiday, and the
Mayflower. Getting a head start at an early age, ranging from 3
months to 23 months, the babies have also been learning about
the color brown, rectangles, the number 4, and the letters G and H.
Up next in December, the students will focus on learning about
Jesus’ birth and doing special projects for the Christmas holiday. In
addition, they will be learning about the color green, star shapes,
the number 5, and the letters I and J. These lessons are giving our
little ones a boost for when they begin preschool.

Check out what’s new this fall! We are so blessed about all that God is doing and the many exciting things going on here at New Testament Baptist Church. From the very beginning, our church has always been about helping people strengthen their relationship with God, getting them to meet some really great people, and finding their place in church. We believe the improvements we are making will give us more opportunities to continue to accomplish this and so much more. Take a look at what’s coming up. For more information please visit www.ntbcfl.org or call (305) 827-8728.
On Saturday, November 1, the students of 4:12 served
the residents at Miami Rescue Mission. Miami Rescue Mission reaches the least, the last and the
lost of our communities to inspire hope with human
compassion and the love of God. MRM serves the less
fortunate in Miami and provides Christian discipleship
programs for adults and out-of-school programs for "At-
risk" youth. Last year, MRM provided 637,000 meals,
223,000 bed nights and 100,000 hours of education and
career assistance. 450 people gained employment and
are now living as productive citizens. NTBC is proud to
partner with this life-changing ministry.
Don't Miss Our Christmas Cantata!
We invite you, your family, and friends to join us this Christmas Season to celebrate our Lord and Savior's birth. The NTBC Choir combined with our Dade Christian School Choir, presents our musical tribute to the Christmas Season, Our King Has Come: the joyful sounds of Christmas. Come and join us as we celebrate the joyful sounds of Christmas through music on Saturday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the church auditorium. Admission is FREE!
