Dear Readers,Our tenth edition, isn’t that great?

Of course it’s reason to celebrate!

The year has gone by so very fast,

We can’t believe the year has past.

The holiday season has officially begun,

A time for shopping for everyone.

Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa too,

A celebration for me and for you.

We watch our loved ones with lots of glee,

As presents are opened and smiles we see.

Laughter and happiness fill the air,

With holiday cheer everywhere.

Before we know it a New Year will be here,

A toast to all for a healthy year.

A resolution should start your year,

With a promise to yourself for all to hear.

Keep that promise and try your best,

While you put yourself to the test.

Make new friends and try something new,

A vegetable, fruit and exercising too.

Join a gym, or run outside,

And watch your kids go down the slide.

Enjoy your time with family and friends,

As 2009 comes to an end.

2010 is just about here,

We wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Your Friends,Lori and Cami

Of course I was skeptical when I walked into Jersey Shore Body Wraps! I mean, who wouldn’t be? They said I could look 6 to 20 inches slimmer in

just one hour! Are you kidding?I was sitting on the beach one afternoon, happy in my

cellulite, when a small plane passed overhead trailing a banner advertising ‘Jersey Shore Body Wraps.’ The banner proclaimed it was possible to look 6 to 20 inches slimmer

in just one hour. “Ha!” I thought to myself. “Not likely!”

MY FIRST WRAP SESSION

But the seed had been planted. The power of advertising, I guess. When I got home that afternoon I looked further into Jersey Shore Body Wraps. I checked their website (www.jerseyshorebodywraps.com), called and made an appointment. I arrived on a Friday morning and immediately noted the elegantly tasteful décor and the distinctly relaxing atmosphere. I was greeted by co-owners Joanie Glander and Kathy Gliozzo who went over every detail of what I would experience during my first body wrap.Upstairs in complete privacy I stripped down to underwear basics (bra and panties) and donned a luxurious robe and slippers provided for all clients. Back downstairs, I entered a private wrapping room. Joanie was to be my wrapper as Kathy was busy working on a client receiving an organic spray tan. “Hmmmm,” I thought to myself, and made a mental note to get a tan before I left.

THE MEASURED TRUTHJoanie took numerous measurements of my body and wrote down everything on my “wrap card.” She then accessed a large covered pan of warm rolled wraps soaked in minerals. She wrapped me completely and snugly from head to toe – or should I say toe to head because the process begins feet first. The bandages were applied firmly to

areas needing contouring and more lightly where only skin tightening was desired. The wrap felt wonderful! Plastic bags were placed over my wrapped feet and hands. And just when I thought I was all done, Joanie placed a blue poncho over my head. “Stunning,” I thought to myself as I passed the mirror. “I could try out for ‘The Mummy Returns’!”.

GLIDING ALONG

Joanie explained the next step in the process, which is light movement to maintain circulation. I spent one hour on a “glider,” at three 20-minute intervals. It was very easy and very comfortable. Every 20 minutes Joanie took me off the glider, emptied the bags on my hands and feet (which had filled up with toxins), re-applied minerals to the wraps, changed my face wraps completely, and steered me back to the glider.

THE GREAT UNWRAPPING

My hour passed quickly and it was time for the unwrapping. Joanie began with my face wrap. When it was off, she suggested I look in the mirror. I could not believe what I saw. My face, neck and chin were visibly tighter. Joanie removed all the bandages and once again took many measurements. The proof was in my results. My total measurements were more than 14 inches less than when I arrived! My skin was tightened and very soft and the cellulite on my thighs virtually disappeared. Then, I put on my clothes. They were loose on me! I was revitalized. Energized.

In as few words as possible, I felt great!

Jersey Shore Body Wraps is the only process offering a written guarantee with respect to results. They guarantee that most women will look a minimum of 6 inches slimmer on the first wrap or a second wrap is given free to make up the inch loss. Because the wraps are not dehydrating, results are guaranteed to remain, provided the client does not gain any weight and returns periodically for maintenance wraps (every 1 to 2 months).

In the Northern Hemisphere, winter is the coldest season of the year. It begins about December 21 and lasts until about March 21. Around December 21 or 22, the sun's rays fall directly over the farthest point south of the equator - marking the first day of winter.

Winter days have fewer hours of daylight because of the path the earth takes as it revolves around the sun. The earth completely revolves around the sun during 365 days.In the Southern Hemisphere, winter begins in June.

Different regions have longer winters than others. For example, in the polar regions, winter takes up half the year. In the Temperate Zones winter takes up about one quarter of the year.

In regions where there is cold weather, it causes many changes in the environment. Water may freeze and become ice, snow, sleet or icicles. Most plants and animals become dormant and rest. Some animals hibernate. The only plants that grow and remain green are evergreens. People protect themselves from the cold climate with winter clothing when they go outdoors. They enjoy a variety of indoor activities or outdoor winter sports such as skiing, skating, or sledding.

This winter make time with your family. Choose to spend cold days and dark nights getting to know your family. One way to get to know all about your family is with a family tree. Ask for some help from your parents or grandma or grandpa!

Kwanzaa is not a religious or a political holiday. Kwanzaa is

a reflective holiday, introduced in the mid-1960's in the

U.S. during the Civil Rights Movement. It is a time when

African-Americans celebrate their African heritage.

Kwanzaa was created by a teacher, Maulana Karenga, Ph.D.,

chair and professor of African-American Studies at the

California State University at Long Beach. He created this

holiday in an effort to pull the African-American

community together in pride and unity. The reflective

nature of Kwanzaa is based on ideas borrowed from an

ancient Swahili seven-day-long harvest celebration. Dr.

Karenga took some old ideas, and added some new

ideas, and came up with the incredibly neat celebration

called Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa begins each year on December 26 and lasts through the

first day in January. The symbols of Kwanzaa are African harvest

symbols, like ears of dried corn and colorfully woven tablecloths.

People decorate their homes for Kwanzaa. An important symbol

is the wooden candlestick. This candlestick holds 7 candles in a

row. The center candle is black, to signify unity. There are 3 red

candles on one side, and 3 green candles on the other.

Day One: The black candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing feelings. The family gathers and shares how they feel about things happening in their lives, and their

feelings about each other. Many problems are cleared up during this day, simply by talking

about them. The black candle signifies unity.

Day Two: A red candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing traditions. Some people teach others how to braid hair. Other might teach how to play an African

drum. Still others might share an African recipe.

Day Three: A green candle is lit.

This is day of togetherness, sharing a common goal.Everyone in the family works together to get a chore done - perhaps paint a fence

or clean out the garage. What's important is that everyone works together to

get the job done.

Day Four: A red candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing a family gift.

All year long, people save their pennies. At Kwanzaa, they buy one gift that the whole family can enjoy.

In years to come, every time any in the family sees this item, they will remember the family

Kwanzaa. It can be anything, from a new staircase to a tiny cookie cutter.

Day Five: A green candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing dreams and hopes. This is an especially good day to ask your children, "What do wish to accomplish in the

new year?"

Day Six: A red candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing creativity. First, everyone in the family creates something - a poem, a story, a dance, a painting.

In the early evening, the family gathers. Each family member shares what they have

created.

Day Seven: A green candle is lit.

This is a day of togetherness, sharing a feast.Baked ham, roasted yams, collard greens, thick bread - it is a wonderful feast.

WHAT IS PEDIATRIC FLATFOOT? WE CAN HELP! Flatfoot is common in both children and adults. When this deformity occurs in children, it is referred to as "pediatric flatfoot," a term that actually includes several types of flatfoot. Although there are differences between the various forms of flatfoot, they all share one characteristic-partial or total collapse of the arch. Most children with flatfoot have no symptoms, but some children have one or more. When symptoms do occur, they vary according to the type of flatfoot. Some signs and symptoms may include:

Flatfoot can be apparent at birth or it may not show up until years later, depending on the type of flatfoot. Some forms of flatfoot occur in one foot only, while others may affect both feet.

WHAT IS WHAT IS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS ALL ABOUT?ALL ABOUT?

Christmas is the date set aside for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Christians celebrate it on December 25th all over the world. Jesus was not born on December 25th exactly but this date was chosen to coincide with the Pagan Roman celebrations honoring Saturnus (Harvest God) and Mithras (Ancient God of Light). The day of this celebration came just after the winter solstice, which is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The celebrations were to make known that winter is not forever. It was a form of worshiping the sun.Jesus was born nearly 2000 years ago. To the Christians, Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior/Saviour of the world. The Christians believe that he came to die for our sins so that we may go to heaven.

WHAT DOES THE WORD "CHRISTMAS" MEAN?

Christmas actually comes from "Mass of Christ". It was however shortened to "Christ Mass". Sometimes the shorter

version "Xmas" is also used.

To anyone born during the last one hundred years, seeing a "metal bird" glide through the sky is not unusual. In fact, it is hard to imagine a blue sky without airplanes and jets racing effortlessly to their destinations. So, what is the magic behind these fascinating machines? Mechanical energy and air are the main reasons airplanes and other airborne vehicles fill our skies.

It was more than 100 years ago at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, that man first flew in an enginepowered aircraft. Before that time, such an event was thought to be centuries away!

It was on December 17, 1903, that Orville Wright stayed aloft in his engine-powered glider for 12 seconds. Later that same day, Orville's brother, Wilbur, would travel more than 850 feet in a flight that remained airborne for 59 seconds.

Just a couple of years later, another one of the Wright's aircrafts would travel 25 miles in 40 minutes.

HOWDOESIT FLY ?

LET'S LOOK AT THE AERODYNAMICPRINCIPLES BEHIND FLIGHT

Aerodynamics focuses on the motion of air and other gases. Scientists who study aerody-

namics use this information to design aircraft that travels

efficiently in the air with very little air resistance. Air resistance is the force or friction that a vehicle experiences as it travels through the air. In aerodynamics there are three basic forces called thrust, drag, and lift that affect how an airplane travels through the air. Thrust is the force which moves the airplane forward. Drag is the force that holds the airplane back as it is flying through the air. Finally, lift is the upward force that opposes earth's gravitational pull. It is the lift that helps to keep the airplane in the air. To Wilbur and Orville Wright’s landmark flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, was the realization of their dream of powered human flight. Although their historic achievement lasted only 12 seconds, it continues to symbolize — even after more than 100 years — human determination, imagination, creativity, and invention.

Celebrated as the beginning of the end of segregation, December 1st is the anniversary of Rosa Parks's arrest for refusing to relinquish her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus and move to the back. The incident sparked a boycott of the municipal bus system that is now viewed as the beginning of the modern civil rights movement.

Hanukkah or Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of LightsThe Jewish festival of Hanukkah, or Chanukah, is also called the Festival of Lights. It lasts for eight days and usually occurs in December, although in some years it may start in November. It commemorates not only the triumph of the Maccabees over the great army of the Syrian king, Antiochus IV, in 165 B.C., but also the universal message that all people have the right to be free. After the Jews had won their battle, they went to their temple and found that the Syrians had brought in statues of their own gods. The eternal light had been allowed to go out. The Jews rekindled the light, but they had only enough oil to keep it burning for one day, and it would take eight days for a messenger to get more oil. The miracle of Hanukkah is that the oil kept burning for eight days, long enough for the messenger to return with more. Jews use a candleholder called the menorah to symbolize this miracle. It holds nine candles. One, the shamus, is used to light the others. They stand for the eight days that the oil kept burning.

CelebratingHanukkah

Hanukkah is celebrated by lighting the candles of the menorah, with a spinning top called a dreidel playing games of chance, and eating special holiday foods such as potato pancakes called latkes.Children often receive a gift on each night of Hanukkah in addition to Hanukkah gelt

(money). This gelt some-times consists of chocolate wrapped in gold foil to look like money.

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD MY CHILD SEE AN ORTHODONTIST?The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child first visit an

orthodontist by age 7 or earlier if a problem is detected by parents, the family dentist,

or the child's physician. Many orthodontic problems are easier to correct if detected at

an early age before jaw growth has slowed. Early treatment can prevent future problems

and maximize future tooth and jaw development.

AM I TOO OLD FOR BRACES?Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age. With treatment options that include

ceramic braces and crystal clear Invisalign, everyone can have a beautiful and healthy smile.

Twenty to twenty five percent of orthodontic patients today are adults.

WHAT IS INVISALIGN?Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that uses a series of invisible, removable,

and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing—so you can smile more

during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging

technology, and has been proven effective in treating certain types of orthodontic

problems.
