Declaration Process of Atmospheric Emissions
Walter Folch. Dept. of Environmental Health
Background
• The obligation of fixed sources to submit records for health sector about emissions, to estimate these, is contained in regulation D.S. N°138/05.
• At this first stage, only one specific group of activities or equipment is required to submit information.
• The declaration process began in 2006 and will take place annually.
• The data submitted corresponds to the operation during the year preceding the year the declaration was made.
• The process of collecting information is through an electronic file generated by a specific program.
Objectives
• Establish baselines for emissions at regional level.
• Update emissions inventories.• Seek information to generate future
emission regulations to allow a more preventive management of air quality; therefore, the information should be traceable, consistent and appropriate.
How to make a declaration
• Facilities need to download, from the site www.retc.cl, the client program that will allow them to submit background information
• At least 3 forms in the program should be completed.
• A report should be generated, which is submitted to the health authority.
