DEFEATING DEMONS THROUGH DELIVERANCE

What’s a demon? Demons are spirits of the devil. The devil, AKA Satan was cast out of heaven into the earth. Demons are evil ( Judges 9:23), unclean, deceitful and destructive. Demons are intelligent (Acts, 16:16), are are powerful, (Mark 2:1-5), demons are emotional (Mark 5:7), demons have doctrines (1 Timothy 4:1), demons have fellowships (1 Corinthians 10:20-21), demons work miracles (Revelation 16:13-14). Demonic spirits functions based on role assignment - The spirit of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2) activates disobedience, the spirit of the world (1 Corinthians 2:12) activates conformity with the ways of the world, the spirit of bondage (Romans 8:15) sets into captivity and oppression of various forms, the spirit of divination (Acts 16:16) is behind false prophecies, the unclean spirit of idolatry (Zechariah 13:2)pushes away from the worship of YHWH, the spirit of prostitution (Hosea 5:4) promotes sexual immorality, spirit of sleep (Isaiah 29:10) sponsors addiction to sleep, the spirit of anger (Ecclesiastes 7:9) causes anger, the haughty spirit (Proverbs 16:18) is behind pride and arrogance. So also is the spirit of lies (1 king 22:21-22) responsible for lies, the spirit of fear (Isaiah 21:4) fills the mind with fear, the spirit of infirmity (Luke 13:11) causes illnesses and poverty (Mark 5:25-26). Demons have thousands of years in experience considering that they have existed longer than we all have. The great news is that the authority given to us by the Blood of Jesus is more than sufficient to help us overcome them. Therefore, everyone seeking to walk in freedom should be deep rooted in the study of the Word of God to learn about demons and how to defeat them.


Demons have two major goals: 1. To prevent you from accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior and to send

you to HELL. 2. To prevent you from worshipping the Lord effectively.

Where do demons live?

Demons do not have flesh and bones like humans. They find it very convenient to inhabit humans. “...for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have” - Luke 24:39. Demons will reside in any person who has no power of the Holy Spirit in them. Demons are quick to gain residence in people who are prone to certain

attitudes or lifestyles.

Evil spirits thrive in the following atmosphere: 1. Sin 2. Rebellion to God 3. A mind deficient of the Word of God 4. A mind independent of the Holy Spirit 5. Idolatry - Placing anything else above YHWH. Idolatry is the worship of

other things such as self, people, material possessions, ideas, achievements, carved images, false gods and deities. (Deut. 32:17)

6. A fearful & worrisome mind 7. Lack of self-control


a. Food addictions b. Drug addictions c. And other addictive lifestyles

8. Sexual immorality & addictions

Am I in need of Deliverance?

YES! Everyone is in need of deliverance. Deliverance is not a one-time endeavour. It is ongoing because the works of the devil is continuous. The devil continues to make attempts to steal kill and destroy. The works of the enemy is permitted by the Lord, to afflict those who disobey and sin against YHWH. At the end time, all of the devil’s work will be put to a complete stop. Until then, we have to continue in living a righteous life to experience deliverance from the works of darkness.

Christians may be living under the influence of demons without knowing it. The Word of God did not clearly state that once you are saved, you can not be under

demonic influence.

Manifestation of demons

Fears, mental insanity, (witchcraft - darkness, control, cults), sicknesses, pride, unhealthy food cravings, addictions, mind blankness, false humility, lies, bitterness, anger, violence, suicide, ego, anti-


learning, fears, talkativeness, lying, doubt, unholy imagination, sexual lust, abuse, unforgiveness, hopelessness, poverty etc.

Not everyone is qualified for deliverance!

Questions to ask yourself to determine your qualification for deliverance.

1. Am I seeking a total and permanent deliverance, and not a quick fix? 2. Am I ready to discontinue conformity to the things of the world? 3. Am I ready to turn away of my sins? 4. Am I ready to be disciplined? 5. Am I ready to confess my sins to God?

If your answer to all these questions is YES, you have established your readiness for deliverance.

STEP 1

Salvation is your first step in casting out demons. BECOME SAVED. How do you become saved? Make a decision to accept that the Lord Jesus came to die for your sins and He

was resurrected on the third day. Through His blood, you were saved, and all legal


requirement as a result of your sins and the sins of your ancestors has been wiped up with the BLOOD OF JESUS.

STEP 2

Pray that the Lord delivers you from all the effects of your sins and the sins of your ancestors - IN THE NAME OF JESUS

STEP 3

Pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Pray that the Lord baptizes you with the Holy Spirit. Read the first , second and third chapters of the book of Acts in the Bible to understand some of the blessings and power that comes with receiving the Holy Spirit.

STEP 4

One after the other, mention the spirits by name (Thou spirit of infirmity, I bind and cast you out of my life, depart from my life completely in the name of Jesus). Demons tremble in the name of Jesus. As you pray, dig deeper and pray the Word of God, and your deliverance will be effective.

NOW THAT YOU ARE FREE - But do why demons return? No one wants to become homeless, even demons! When they are expelled through deliverance. Their former house (YOU) needs to be refilled immediately with the Holy Spirit. ● “When the UNCLEAN SPIRIT (demon) goes out of a man, he (demon) goes

through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return unto MY HOUSE (YOUR BODY) from which I came.” - Luke 11:24


● “And when he comes, he finds it (YOUR BODY) swept and put in order. (YOU ARE NOT FILLED WITH THE POWER OF THE HOLY-SPIRIT ).” Luke 11:25

● “Then goes and takes with him, seven other spirits (demons) more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell (IN YOU); and the last state of that man is worse than the first”. Luke 11:26

Welcome to the Kingdom living

Defeating demons completely requires the Kingdom way of life. Deliverance from demons is a lifestyle. It’s not a 3-day retreat as most commonly believe. Casting out demons can be achieved during a deliverance session. The most important victory is staying demon-free. During deliverance sessions, people seeking deliverance are told to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Most people willing do and are delivered.

Accepting Jesus is more than the YES you said during the altar call on the deliverance ground. A lifestyle after the teachings of Jesus is compulsory for you to retain your deliverance.


After receiving your deliverance, follow the steps below:

1. Set a special time apart to worship the Lord in praises and Hymns 2. Study the Word of God every day (Joshua 1:8) 3. Live a prayerful and fasted life 4. Destroy all objects and materials (Acts 19:18-19) 5. Fellowship with other strong believers 6. Secure the gates to your mind (Proverbs 4:23)
