Rhythmic Step Encouraging music with simple moves and adds muscle flexion with a step bench.

Yoga Physical postures strengthen and tone muscles, and performed in rapid succession providing body sculpting & conditioning.

SS Range of Motion Muscle strength, flexibility, and range of motion exercises utilizing resistance bands, exercise balls and a chair for stability and support.

Women & Weights Low impact cardio workout with free weight strengthening.

Y Cycling Cardio workout to music on specially designed stationary bicycles. Workout towel required.

Advanced Yoga & Pilates For those who have completed beginner level. One day of Pilates & One day of Yoga-Improve flexibility, strength, and relaxation.

Aerobic Workout Plus Low impact, high intensity workout! Floor aerobics plus strengthening exercises with free weights!

Beginner Fitness Learn fitness and aerobic basics.

Cardio Drumming A low impact, fun workout that helps drum off pounds, aggression and stress!

Circuit Training Class Come experience a workout that utilizes forms of body conditioning and resistance training while using high-intensity aerobics.

Pilates a system of physical conditioning involving low impact exercises and stretches designed to strengthen muscles of the torso.

WATER FITNESS Water Aerobics

High intensity, low impact, endurance building aerobic workout. Burn calories while toning and strengthening muscle. Improve balance, coordination, and flexibility. It is not necessary to know how to swim. Classes are 50 minutes.

This class is FREE to Y Members with a Family Membership.

The Deep

High Intensity, no impact workout with a floatation device. The exercises are in shallow and deep water, working large muscle groups. Classes are 50 minutes in the competitive lap pool.

SS Arthritis Aquatics

This class has specially designed exercises in warm water for people with arthritis. These exercises use the water’s buoyancy and resistance to help improve joint flexibility and muscle strength. The warm water and gentle movements can also help to relieve pain, stiffness, and increase joint mobility. It is not necessary to know how to swim. Classes are 45 minutes.

This class is FREE to all Silver Sneakers participants.

First Time Certifications: Lifeguard, First-Aid, CPR/ AED for the Professional Rescuer:

Can NOT do Lifeguard by itself (class includes all 3)

Parent and Child Aquatics: (30 minute class) These classes are designed for very young children to learn basic water safety skills assisted by their parents.

Learn to Swim Level 1: (45 minute class)

Introduction to Water Skills-Beginning swimmers with no experience in the water.

Learn to Swim Level 2: (45 minute class) Fundamental Aquatic Skills-Children need to be comfortable exploring the water both on the surface as well as underwater being completely submerged (entire head).

Learn to Swim Level 3: (45 minute class) Stroke Development-Children must be able to tread/float for at least 15 seconds, float on both front and back, and swim (in any form) 5 body lengths all unassisted.

Learn to Swim Level 4: (45 minute class) Stroke Improvement-Children must be able to tread water/float for 1 minute and swim 25 yards of both backstroke and front crawl all unassisted.

Learn to Swim Level 5: (45 minute class) Stroke Refinement-Children must be able to swim back stroke and front crawl for 25 yards, swim breast stroke for 15 yards, and be able to swim 5 body lengths underwater confidently.

SWIM TEAM Piranhas Swim Team 2017-2018 Season Registration Night: Tuesday, September 12th from 5:00-7:00pm

Swimsuit sizing and try on will be available

Location: Defiance Area YMCA Youth Center

First Practice: Monday, September 25th from 5:00-6:00pm

Practice Schedule: Monday-Friday from 5:00-6:00pm

Requirements:

Must be able to swim/doggie paddle 1 length of lap pool unassisted (25 yards)

Each swimmer must provide their own pair of goggles and swimsuit

Season: September through March

Swim Meets: Held on Saturdays-schedule to follow

Cost:

All swimmers must be YMCA members-A 6 month option is available

Membership fee is separate from general swim team fees

Fee per swimmer: $200 for the season. May pay in full or opt for the payment

plan of $50 per month for 4 months (due on the 10th of each month).

Maximum general swim team fee per family with multiple swimmers is

$500 for the season
