Dictionary Search Options

• Code or Description

• Begins with and/or Contains

• ‘Is Like’ – 3 options for pattern matching

• Sort Code or Description

- 3 -2013 Midas+ User Symposium

‘Is Like’ Pattern Matching

Option 1: Underscore ( _ ) character serves as a substitute for any single character

Option 2: Percent sign ( % ) wildcard is a substitute for any combination of characters, including numbers

Option 3: Back slash ( \ ) wildcard is used when you want to do a search in which your results will include an underscore, percent sign, or back slash. Inserting a \ allows insertion of a _, %, or \ character in the search pattern and keeps the search pattern from using these symbols as substitutes for other characters. The allowable character combinations are \_, \%, and \\.
