Overseas Research Expeditions and Study Abroad Courses1. Darien, Panama. Research Expedition to Darien, Panama Sponsored by the

National Science Foundation. Collected insects, fish at Chucunaque River, reptilesand amphibians at the primary tropical rain forest of the province of Darien. Thespecimens collected were donated to the National Museum Smithsonian Institution,Washington, DC. Studies of Bromeliads as microhabitats for water dependantspecies, Ecological studies of an undisturbed primary forest related to possibleimpacts after the construction of the last segment of the Pan American Highwaythrough what is known as the Darien Gap 1961.

2. Underwater Habitat. First Puerto Rican to Participate in a Two-Week SaturationDive, Puerto Rico International Undersea Laboratory. An underwater habitat tocarry a research project on coral reefs; specifically, the vertical stratification relatedto the ecological succession in the formation of coral reef systems 1971-72.
