Their students are homeschooled children from the Eugene-Springfield-Thurston- Veneta areas. In addition, the Lions Club will begin meeting monthly at St. Matthew's on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00pm in the parish hall. This particular group's service area is River Road and they are eager to engage in community service projects in our neighborhood. This is in addition to the Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts that continue to meet during the week and AL-ANON that meets on Sunday nights! Our building is becoming well used as we partner with organizations that do amazing work with kids and with the neighborhood. The Community Garden had an excellent year of gardening, compost building workshops, and outreach in the Latino community. And the Food Pantry remains a vital force for good to our neighbors who need food support. All these things, in the words of parishioner Ginny Holloter, "make Jesus happy". This is in addition to the worship and praise we offer God weekly and the spiritual growth occurring among our parishioners on a regular basis. God is so good! St Matthew's is alive and vital, growing and learning to follow Jesus even more closely day by day. For this I am truly grateful and honored to be priest to such a happening place of God's people.
