An inspirational Message from Soror Latrice Campbell and Soror Cynthia Sutton

Greetings of Hope, Love, Peace, and Joy!

HHIBAC has so much to be thankful for as this 2014 year is nearing its end. As a Sorority, we have a plate that runneth over with actions, works and deeds that helped others; not to mention the Blessing that we have been to one another. Our Mighty and Awesome God we serve is more than enough in our lives and we pray that we all will continue to strive in being blessings to others, that beacon of light, encouraging words and deeds and to do these acts with the love that abounds in us and from God. Everyday should be a day of Thanksgiving!

1 Chronicles 16:8 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.”

We are now in the season of Advent. Let us focus on the anticipation of Christ’s birth leading up to Christmas. As we begin to gather our Christ lists to shop for loved ones, friends and ourselves, let us remember the reason for the season. 2 Corinthians 9:15. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”The gift that God gave us at Christmas. His Beloved Son among us is a gift that is ours all the days of our lives. Whether we get more or less. God wants us to be close to His heart.

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder, And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”Isaiah 9:6.

Sorors, we pray that you have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church hosted its 10th Annual “Pink Out” observance of Breast Cancer Awareness on Sunday, October 26th. Our dear President Payne introduced Soror Baker in such an engaging manner by enumerating 10 top things you need to know about Soror Baker. Soror Baker is a charter member of HHIBAC , and served as Chaplin, Audit Chair and Treasurer. She is now a member of the Columbus, GA Alumnae Chapter where she serves as Chair of the International Awareness & Development Committee as well as a member of the Executive Board. After the introduction, Soror Baker preached a sermon entitled, “God is a Healer.” Our hearts, souls and spirits were stirred by her message.

Tea for 22 + 2

Article Submitted by Soror Anita N. MilesPhotos by Soror Diane Neal

On Sunday, October 26, at the home of Soror Lenore Carter, twenty-two chapter members attended a first for our chapter – a Reclamation Tea! The idea was to “reclaim” sorors as members of our local chapter, and we were excited to welcome Sorors DJ Moore and Marcia Hannah, guests of Lenore Carter and Diane Neal. These amazing ladies joined chapter members as we dined on assorted tea sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, madeleine cookies, banana nut bread and hot tea—what a treat! Soror Lenore Carter’s house was beautifully decorated with assorted fall flowers and tables were covered with red and white tablecloths, and white linen napkins. Tea from glorious assorted pots was poured into many different tea cups brought to the event by each member. Soror Laura Hand also provided beautiful china tea cups, saucers, sugar bowls and creamers, which she actually donated to the chapter, and which were used to fill-in where there were needs. These items will forever remain with the chapter and will always hold a special place in our hearts. As a thank you to our guests, Sorors Moore and Hannah were given African violets and their own tea cup and saucer as a reminder of their afternoon tea with the ladies of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Thank you to sorors Joyce Major, Cynthia Sutton, Bette Lynch, Donna Williams, Lenore Carter and Carol Pringle for their help in making the tea a success. Thank you also to each soror who attended and brought a food item. We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we enjoyed planning and bringing it to fruition.

Volunteer in CCAME Soup Kitchen

Submitted by Soror Pam Redmon

Every Wednesday the HHIBAC have sorors who wake up and get ready to serve meals to members of our community at the Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Soup Kitchen. Over fifty people in the community look forward to coming to the “soup kitchen” to receive their meal for the day. Meals are delivered to homes and served in the CCAME Church Fellowship Hall and HHIBAC Deltas are there with a smile.

HHIBAC Sorors Clemma Younger, Sarah Harris and Pamela Redmon assist with the serving along with Soror Marian Thompson and other members of Campbell Chapel AME Church. An article of the CCAME Soup Kitchen was featured in the Bluffton Breeze October 2014 publication.

Under the leadership of Soror Michele Dallas, International Awareness & Development Committee Chair, HHIBAC successfully conducted an international collaboration with Operation Christmas Child by chapter members giving over 40 filled shoeboxes in addition to donations of more than $100. The holiday spirit continued with Sorors’ participation in 3 separate community organization packing events where 70 shoeboxes were packed at one church, approximately 150 at another church and 3500 shoeboxes were sorted and packed at our Area Coordinator’s home, demonstrating how even something as small as a shoebox can bring joy to children all over the world and be a huge blessing to us!

Sorors of Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Alumnae Chapter enjoy unwinding after our meetings on the 3rd Saturday each month. We go to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch, but sometimes we add an activity. On Saturday, November 15, 2014 we tried our skill at our neighboring Station 300 Bowling and Activity Center. Our family, friends, and other Greeks joined us as we celebrated "Delta Sisterhood". Lunch was delicious and everyone had a wonderful time. Soror Chavon Browne organized the enjoyable bowling and lunch activity.
