Calculus Removers- removes (‘cracks’) gross calculus

The Dental Prophy

• Dental explorer – has a slender, wirelike working end that tapers to a sharp point and is used to explore the topography of the tooth surface

• Explores ‘caries’

The Dental Prophy

• Periodontal probe • Used like a miniature intraoral ruler to measure

attachment levels, sulcus and pocked depths, loss of bone in fucation areas, and size of oral lesions.

• Used to assess mobility of teethand the presence of gingival bleeding.

• Williams’ markings have millimeter increments at 1,2,3,5,7,8,9 and 10mm.
