Physical core acquisition and analysis are crucial to understanding and improving both reservoir and completion quality, especially in highly variable heterogeneous unconventional environments and challenging deepwater and remote operations. Schlumberger has a global network of reservoir laboratories that integrates rock and fluid analysis services, delivering more complete reservoir characterization that can deepen understanding and enable better decision making.
The Schlumberger Reservoir Laboratory in Denver offers analysis for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs, providing wellsite services, core processing, observation room setup, and core storage. The facility has four separate observation rooms that can accommodate 1,000 ft [304 m] of core at any given time. The capabilities of the Denver laboratory are further expanded with support from the laboratories in Houston and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Continuous support from Schlumberger experts and quick turnaround of sample selection and analysis provide customers with comprehensive, reliable test results that are delivered with safety, integrity, and quality.
More than 25 Schlumberger Reservoir Laboratories around the world support a wide range of reservoir characterization projects. Scientific rigor and attention to detail enable Schlumberger to provide accurate, insightful information that leads to better-informed drilling, development, and production decisions.

Trained personnel carefully reconstruct received core for further processing, viewing, and storage.
Continuous scratch strength testing allows for quick evaluation of rock heterogeneity along the entire core and helps in sample selection for further analysis.
Total and spectral core gamma logging is one of the first steps in core processing, ensuring proper depth correlation of core measurements and downhole log measurements.
