About the Program

The Entrepreneurship awareness program was conducted from the Electronics and Communication department in

association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The program was carried out for two days with the

participating audience from the various Branch of engineering and Management. The main aim of the program is

spreading of the awareness of being and succeeding as an entrepreneur, to think like an entrepreneur. The program

identified and felicitated Mr. Niranjan. Karagi, a final year student from Mechanical Department, for his invention in

About Project:

Human cell is having cancer as a major disease. The human body is a group of cells united together to form organs

and tissues such as bones and muscles, liver and the lungs. In each cell order, Genes inside each cell work,

reproduce, grow, and die. Generally, human cells follow these orders, and persons remain healthy. Sometimes, these

instructions are mixed together and causing the cells to form lumps or tumors. The simulation involves thresholding

of MRI grayscale image. The proposed threshloding and other efficient algorithms are implemented with MATLAB

which will remove noise efficiently. An improved edge detection algorithm for brain tumor segmentation is

presented. It is based on Sobel edge detection. It combines the Sobel method with image dependent thresholding

method, and finds tumor region.

About Project

The origin and continuation of mankind is based on water. The only nearly inexhaustible sources of water are the

oceans, which, however are of high salinity. it would be feasible to address the water shortage problem with sea water

desalination, however, the separation of salts from sea water requires large amounts of energy, when produced from

fossil fuels, can cause harm to the environment. Therefore there is a need to employee environmental friendly energy

source in order to desalinate seawater. In this project a solar still has been designed which works in day time as well

as during night, in which Phase Changing Material is used as storage medium which stores solar energy during day

time and releases its absorbed heat in the night for the purpose of heating water and also it reduces the heat loss and

increasing the temperature difference between the condenser and evaporator throughout the day and hence produces

better productivity. The experimentation trial conducted with and without phase change material and results are

compared. With this an attempt is also made to generate Electricity from Salt water. In this work three applications

are there 1) Extraction of fresh water in day time using solar radiation 2)Extraction of fresh water during night with

the help of phase changing material 3) extraction of small amount of electricity.

Association Activities

Mr. Kuldeep and Mr. Utpal, Newton Software Pvt. Ltd., Pune, visited our department and demonstrated the

applications and use of AutoScan and AutoSteel software to our students. These softwares are useful in the field of

Estimation and Valuation and the Schedule of bars.

Mr. Rajeev Ramkumar, Educadd Learning Solutions, Belagavi visited our institution and demonstrated AutoDesk

and softwares related to civil engineering. AutoDesk has application for creating 3D digital prototypes used in the

design, visualization and simulation of various loads in the structures.

The M.Tech. Students from the Department of Civil Engineering carried out an awareness program regarding

"Crackers Free Diwali". Students prepared placards and posters depicting the harmful effects of burning crackers.

Students displayed placards and posters, went around all the classrooms of the institute and depicted the harmful

effects of burning crackers on the Environment, Air Pollution, Noise Pollution, Accidents, Child labour employed in

fireworks factories, harm to the Senior Citizens and pets etc,.

Our department in association with “National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research, Chandigarh”

organized 5 days workshop on “Remote Sensing GIS & GPS Application in Engineering”. 36 delegates

participated in the workshop. The workshop aimed at the Basic Principles of Remote Sensing, Practical

Demonstration of Module, Sensors and its platforms, Indian Space Program, Applications of remote sensing Case

Studies, GIS fundamentals, Data Structures and DBM, GPS-Concept and applications, RS & GIS applications in

Civil Engineering.

AWARENESS PROGRAM & STIMULATION DISPLAY BY INDIAN AIR FORCE

The Indian Air Force (IAF) today, having completed the Platinum Jubilee of dedicated service to the nation, is a

modern, technology-intensive force distinguished by its commitment to excellence and professionalism. Keeping

pace with the demands of contemporary advancements, the IAF continues to modernize in a phased manner and

today it stands as a credible air power counted amongst the fore-most professional services in the world. The primacy

of Air Power will be a decisive factor in shaping the outcome of future conflicts. In line with this dictum, the Indian

Air Force (IAF) has developed into a major 'Component of National Power', which can be applied quickly and

decisively. The IAF has reoriented itself to a multi-role capability of platforms and equipment, along with multi-skill

capability of personnel. The rapid economic growth of the country dictates the need to protect our security interests

extending from the Persian Gulf to the Straits of Malacca.

A wide Bus, enabled with all the tech equipments, Pilot wears, and new advanced stimulators was displayed to the

students & staffs with the brief working explanation of the each segment.

Each batch of 15 students was shown the demonstration. Also the students had a chance to interact with all the AIR

FORCE officials. A presentation on carriers in AIR FORCE was delivered by the team.

The general recruitment, and selection process was the part of the presentation. End of the day the students are well

educated with Defense job opportunities with the criteria.

Updated Gadgets!!! What about Skills Updation??

With technology almost taking control of our life and we all updating our gadgets on regular basis to be at par with

this techno world, to what extent have we focused on updating our skills as well. With frequent usage of “Smart

Phones” and being connected with everyone, what we have to ask ourselves is, “my phone is smart, but what about

me?”

Most of the candidates are well connected with others through social media and various chatting apps where they

express their opinions frankly and rock the social media with their deadly selfies, minute-to-minute updates, powerful

quotes and trendy tweets, it seems like all the candidates have mastered over communication and they prefer to be

updated and also keep others updated about them.

But wait; is it the same when they are attending the interview? The communication skills seem to be completely

opposite when facing an interview or participating in a Group Discussion session. A disappointing fact is that most of

them are not even able to introduce themselves formally. The candidates who update minor details about them on

social media, lack in updating the general knowledge or current affairs. Candidates have updated from 2G to 3G to

4G as well, but they do not update themselves with the current B-news or fail to speak on the current issues in the

corporate world.

The industry and corporate professionals on the other hand are often expressing their concern over not being able to

get the right candidate as they do not possess the updated skills. Now, it is the duty of candidate to use the internet

and smart phones to become smarter and keep them updated professionally.

Lastly, it is left to the candidates, whether they want to update only their technological gadgets or update their

professional skills as well and face the fast moving challenging world and enhance their career.
