organized one-day workshop on virtual labs
in mechanical engineering under TEQIP - II,
S. C. 1.2 in association with virtual labs
project of IIT Kharagpur on 22/09/2012. The
chief guest, Dr. C. S. Kumar, discipline
National co-coordinator, IIT Kharagpur
inaugurated the seminar. In his address, prof.
Kumar spoke about importance of the virtual
labs in mechanical engineering and he
highlighted the designing and dealing such
systems. He also spoke about the scope for carrying out research in the field of virtual labs. Delegates
from educational institution, industries and research organizations participated in large number. The
workshop was organized by Dr. A. V. Ratna Prasad, Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical
Engineering, V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada.
Faculty Development Program on
“CHARACTERIZATION OF NANO MATERIALS”
Department of mechanical engineering
organized a one day faculty development
program on the topic ‘Characterization of
Nano Materials’ under TEQIP – II, S. C. 1.2
on 27/04/2012.
Dr. V. Appa rao, Professor, Department of
Chemistry, NIT Warangal graced the
function as Chief Guest. Speaking on the
occasion, he highlighted the nano materials
importance and recent developments.
Dr. Narasimha Rao, Post Doctoral Research Associate, Idaho National laboratory, USA briefed about
the Characterization of Nano Materials. He also spoke about the scope for carrying out research and
projects in the field of space vehicles.
Dr. Srinivas, Principal, Padmasri Dr. B. V. Raju Insitute of Computer Education, Bhimavaram, in his
lecturer, discussed the recent applications of nano materials.Dr. V. Bala Krishna Murthy acted as co-
ordinator for this one day workshop.

Faculty Development Program on
“MACHINE CONDITION MONOTORING AND FAULT DIOGNOSTICS”
Department of mechanical engineering
organized a two week faculty development
program on the topic ‘Machine condition
monitoring and fault diagnostics’ sponsered
by AICTE, during 25th June 2012 to 7th July
2012.
Dr. B. Bangaru Babu, Professor, Department
of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Warangal
graced the function as Chief Guest. Speaking
on the occasion, he discussed the challenges faced in machine condition monitoring and stressed
upon the remedial measures required to be taken in this respect.
Dr. Dr. R. Vijay, Scientist – E, ARCI, Hyderabad, delivered lecturer on latest techniques and methods
for machine condition monitoring and fault diagnostics. Dr. A. S. Sekar, Department of Mechanical
Engineering, IIT Chennai, highlighted the various aspects of signal conditioning and analysis. The
fuction was presided over by Dr. G. Srikanth, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Warangal.
The workshop was organized by Dr. C. Nagaraju, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering,
V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada.
One-day Faculty Orientation Program on
COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS – THEORY AND APPLICATIONS
Department of Mechanical Engineering
organized a one-day Faculty Orientation
Program on “Computational Fluid Dynamics
– Theory and Applications”, under TEQIP –
II (S. C. 1.2). Dr K. Arul Prakash, Professor,
Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT,
Chennai was the resource person. During his
one day lecture, he highlighted the
importance of the emerging area of Thermal
Engineering- Computational Fluid Dynamics.
He explained the fundamentals of CFD and presented some case studies. The workshop was organized
by Prof. B. Ragava Rao, and Asst. Prof. C. Mahash, Department of Mechanical Engineering, V.R.
Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada.

engineers day in VR siddhartha engineering college
on 15th Sept, 2012.

Venkatesh attended a technical fest in NIT
Warangal on 15th Sep, 2012 and attained 6 th
position in rover.
C.Dhavan persuing 4/4 B.Tech in VR siddhartha
engineering college designed & manufactured a
humanoid Robot with latest obstacle sensors and
got clearance certificate from IRA(Govt of India)
research centre and presented the model on the
occasion of Engineers Day on 15th Sep, 2012.
K.Srinivas presented a model of steam engine on
the occasion of engineer’s day 2012 in VR
siddhartha engineering college on 15th Sep, 2012.

India Education Forum(USIEF) on 24/08/2012.
2) A Guest Lecture on “Robotics and Control Systems” delivered by C.S.Kumar , Associate Professor,
IIT Kharagpur to the final year students and Faculty of the Mechanical Department on 17/09/
2012.
3) III/IV and II/IV B. Tech Students attended an Entrepreneurship awareness program on “How to
Identify a best Idea for a Business “ organized by EDC, V. R. Siddhartha Engineering College in
association with E-Cell, IIT, Kharagpur on 18/10/2012 at V. R. Siddhartha Engineering College,
Vijayawada.
