About Us

Nationwide Design AssociationsHastings+Chivetta designs college and university facilities for clients

across the country. We are accustomed to teaming with planning

and design firms and the majority of our projects are completed

with an architectural partner.

Whether as architect of record or design architect, our focus

is always on our clients' goals. We create open, collaborative

relationships with our team members, respect the expertise and

background of each design partner, and clearly define project

roles and responsibilities.

Our professionals’ knowledge, experience and creative designs

have built the cornerstone of our practice: “Building clients, not just

projects.” This cornerstone indicates our unwavering commitment

to building a personal relationship with our clients’ stakeholders.

Student Wellness Center, Grand Forks, NDHastings+Chivetta teamed with ICON Architectural Group to design the new Student Wellness Center that encourages an holistic approach to wellness and fitness. Recreation components include a three-court gymnasium, multi-activity court, jogging track, cardio mezzanine and spin studio. The extensive Wellness Suite has assessment, massage therapy and reflexology therapy rooms. Additional components include a library/media center, demonstration kitchen, and a quiet lounge with free-standing water feature and fireplace.

University of North Dakota

College of Business Administration, St. Louis, MOTo create a prominent and unified presence for the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Hastings+Chivetta and Robert A.M. Stern Architects were engaged to develop a conceptual design. Currently, the undergraduate and graduate business programs are taught in five buildings resulting in what students describe as a “nomadic” experience. The new facility will resolve this issue, and create a professional environment that supports collaboration with local enterprises.

University of Missouri-St. Louis

Old Dominion University

Recreation Center, Norfolk, VALocated in the heart of campus, the new Student Recreation Center has become the hub of all sport, wellness and fitness activities and energized the campus core. Hastings+Chivetta and Moseley Architects designed the building “storefront” to reinforce the contour of nearby housing and present a main-street-like appearance with views into the facility. Major components include a three-court gym, multi-activity court, two-level cardio, strength and free weight space, suspended running track, climbing wall, group exercise studios, a cycling studio, racquetball courts and a juice/bagel bar.

Center for Applied Energy Research, Building 2, Lexington, KYIn association with Murphy+Graves Architects, Hastings+Chivetta designed the second facility in the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER), dedicated to researching energy and its environmental impacts. The two-story research facility incorporates the disciplines of fuel chemistry, catalysis, geo- and environmental chemistry, electrochemistry, biomass conversion, and carbon materials. Lab spaces are designed with an open layout to promote collaboration.
