How close is close?

A major equipment manufacturer recently contacted us to produce a thin, flexible rubber “bumper” for the controls of their high-speed printing machine. The bumper had to be composed of two 14-inch long strips of different rubber compounds, one black and the other red, molded together to within +.002”, -.001” uniform tolerance along its entire length.

Nearly 100 different rubber companies told this manufacturer that the design was impossible to produce. But they came to us.

The result? Central Rubber now manufactures these bumpers precisely to specifications, and extremely economically.

Why Central Rubber?

Any plant that primarily molds black rubber is, by nature, a grimy, sooty place. This is because carbon black (which makes black rubber black) is an ultrafine, lightweight powder. A slight eddy of air can send it swirling out of its container and onto every surface and machine around.When a black rubber company runs a batch of colored rubber, there’s no way to prevent soot from infiltrating the compound. The result: yellows take on a greenish tint, light colors become darker, bright colors become greyed.

The Central Rubber plant is sparkling clean. Our most common color is yellow, which comes from a dye instead of a powder. And on those occasions when we do run black, our carbon black is pre-mixed with resin so no dust can escape to taint nearby batches of colored rubber. Count on us to make your colored rubber products turn out clean and bright. And we can mold them out of natural rubber, or any elastomer you’d like.

Central Rubber Company’s pressroom contains nearly three dozen presses, which allows us to offer injection, compression, and transfer molding.

Our presses range in size from 15 x 12.5” at the small end to as large as 48 x 48”. This gives us the ability to use molds of all sizes, as well as design molds with various numbers of cavities to meet your demand. We offer complete mold design services to assist in manufacturing your parts in the most efficient manner possible.
