BELLEVUE, WA— Tap House Grill, featuring the largest selection of beers in the Northwest, has announced its Beer Events for 2011. Tap House Grill, in Bellevue and Seattle, will release summer beers in late May, they will be sponsoring the Seattle International Beerfest July 1st through 3rd at the Seattle Center, holding their much anticipated IPA Week August 11th-21st, and again will be the main sponsor of the Fremont Oktoberfest in September. If that’s not enough for one happy, brew loving fan, the Tap House Grill’s Oktoberfest promotion begins at both locations in September and runs for ten days beginning with fan favorite, “Pint Nights” for the four nights prior to the Fremont Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest beers will be featured all season long at Tap House Grill.

Summer BeersAlways offering 160 beers

on tap, Tap House introduces a variety of seasonal summer brews starting in May with the full selection offered by the fi rst week of June. Summer beers come from around the country and the world to fulfi ll every taste bud. New and different beers are always available and rotating. “This is a highly anticipated time of year for beer followers,” said owner, Paul Reder. “This year our rotation includes 3 Skulls Blood Orange, Kona Wailua wheat, Snoqualmie Summer Solstice, Pyramid Curveball, New Belgium Skinny Dip, Lost Coast Great White, Ninkasi Radiant and Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA.”

Since opening in 2002 Tap House Grill has been serving beer to a loyal following of beer lovers. Every summer they’ve featured

ten to twelve local breweries seasonal brew.

“Wheat beer is often a summer favorite because it goes great with spicy food like barbeque,” says Reder. “Our menu features a variety of entrees that will pair great with our summer brews including our baby back BBQ pork ribs, Seared Ahi Salad, Cedar Plank Salmon with walnut green apple glaze and tomato mango chutney, Macadamia Mahi Mahi and Strawberry Chicken Salad.” He adds, “I also believe if you’re drinking a beer you like and eating food you like, then you’ve successfully paired your meal.”

Sponosorship of Seattle BeerfestTap House is also sponsoring

The Seattle Beerfest July 1-3rd. This will be held at the Mural Ampitheatre at Seattle Center and features beers from around the region and the world.

The beers of SIB represent all that’s possible in the world of brewing. Many of the featured beers at this event are obscure yet hold their own place in world history as the birth of a new brewing style. “We’re very happy and excited to be a part of this event,” adds Reder.

IPA WeekAdditional promotions at Tap

House Grill for 2011 include IPA Week August 11-21st, where over 40 new IPA’s are introduced to the Tap House Grill line up. IPA Week has grown into one of the biggest events of the year for Tap House, serving over 5,000 pints of beer per store or 50 kegs per store, during the ten day, late summer promotion.

OktoberfestTap House Grill will also hold

their 9th Annual Oktoberfest celebration in September at both locations, in conjunction with being one of the main sponsors for the past seven years of the Fremont Oktoberfest. For this promotion, Tap House Grill will bring the fl avors of Munich to Seattle & Bellevue, accompanied with traditional and authentic German style food items.

“ Oktoberfest gives us the opportunity to bring the fl avors of Germany right here to Seattle and Bellevue,” says Reder.

Tap House Grill’s Oktoberfest celebration begins with the anxiously awaited pint nights. “This year’s pint nights will take place Monday through Thursday, September 19th through 22nd” adds Reder. “We will have four beers on special, one for each day and our guests can keep the glass for the particular beer that is featured that night. Many of our guests come all four nights to collect all four of the glasses.”

The Fremont Oktoberfest takes place Friday September 23- Sunday September 25th. This event is a fall tradition in Seattle, benefi ting and taking place in the heart of the Fremont neighborhood. Voted by USA Today and Orbitz.com as one of the top places to toast Oktoberfest, this three-day festival features a tasting garden and two stages with live music. On Sunday the event features “Dogtoberfest” activities and an Oktoberfest Village with Kids Area and a 5K run. Tap House Grill sponsors an area called The Buxom Beer Garden, where attendees can purchase full pints and half liters of select beers. In addition, a DJ entertains guests and a “Miss Buxom Beer Garden” contest takes place. This contest

challenges participants to show their true Oktoberfest spirit and dress in the best dirndls or lederhosen. The audience selects the winner.

Beer ClubOver 12,000 Tap House Grill

guests are members of the Tap House Grill Beer Club. Beer Club members are given a credit card style membership card that tracks every item the guest orders when dining at Tap House Grill. The member accumulates points and is rewarded along the way. By joining the Beer Club, each member receives 20% off their guest check the fi rst seven days of each month and their membership card is loaded with Tap House Grill reward dollars as they reach certain plateaus. “We awarded over 30,000 reward dollars to our beer club members in 2010 and this year, in 2011, we have awarded over 11,500 reward dollars so far” adds Reder.

IF YOU’RE IN business, you are without a doubt hearing about Websites, Social Media, Facebook, Twitter and Mobile Web almost daily. Whether you are an entrepreneur, a small business or a large company, it is common knowledge that people do their research online and check your business out before they buy. Here are a few helpful tips to make your company’s online presence branded, polished & effective:

• Stay away from template websites, your website should be as professional and unique as your business.

• Don’t cut corners, always

hire a professional, REPEAT, always hire a professional with a proven track record of success. The kid up the street might know a lot about computers, but there is too much at stake here to trust your company image to your neighbor’s teenager.

• Link your company website to your company Facebook page and also to your Twitter account & then from those social media sites, post links back to your main website. This round robin or triangle of traffi c is very powerful. Your website is the cornerstone; everything else online should point towards it.

• Add links to sites that

have customer reviews and testimonials, watch your position and credibility online soar.

• Your company should have a clean, crisp, up to date, search engine optimized website. It is imperative that your website display well on a MAC, PC and the new smart phones.

Facebook, is now the size of a small country and is fi lled with consumers. Make sure your company has a professional Facebook fan page that refl ects the quality of your image and stays true to your brand. Twitter can be a great platform for keeping in touch with existing

customers, offering specials, and announcing company product updates, posting client testimonials and news. These social media platforms are too big and too robust to be ignored.

A well rounded online presence does not have to be expensive, if you can budget about $900.00 for set up and $50.00 a month for your online efforts, you can have a search engine optimized, high impact website, professionally designed Facebook company fan page, and a branded Twitter page that work together to create a powerful internet marketing campaign for your business.

Gardening in the Pacific NorthwestAdding color, fragrance and a little bit of magic to your home landscape!

Springtime in the Pacific Northwest is a truly beautiful time of year. Our favorite Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in full bloom, buzzing with the sounds of busy little bumble bees, and showing off an array of colors that can’t be beat! The great thing about gardening in the Northwest though is that there are countless other things going on too! A walk through a Northwest garden can be a magical experience! A beautiful Northwest Garden is a garden with seemingly endless colors and textures spilling forth all around you to create a lush, inviting space. Ornamental grasses like Carex morrowii ‘Evergold’ create beautiful border plantings that will brighten up a cloudy day, and absolutely glow when the sun shines. Perhaps no plant provides more color than the midsized shrub Abelia grandiflora ‘Kaleidoscope’, which boasts beautiful multicolored foliage that can be green, yellow, orange, red, and pink, sometimes all at the same time! They even have bright white hummingbird friendly flowers! Nothing enhances a garden more than a pleasant fragrance! Those familiar sweet scents can bring us back to the days of our youth when we played in our grandmother’s flower gardens without a care in the world. There are lots of garden plants that provide us with great fragrance. One of the best is the many varieties of Lilium orientalis. Some of the varieties smell so wonderful that you’ll want to retire early and just sit back with a glass of cold lemonade right next to a big bunch of Lilies! Another fragrant favorite is the fabulous Viburnum carlesii, which happens to be one of the best plants for use in informal cottage gardens. The clusters of paper-white flowers that cover the plant are heavenly! They’re also fantastic in that they are great for attracting butterflies! Our gardens can be anything that we want them to be, and that is what makes them so magical. We can whisk ourselves away to a tropical vacation in our own backyard, or recreate the formal gardens of old Europe, it is all up to us! Think about what you would like to accomplish with your gardens, then take some time to get out in your garden today and discover that magic for yourself!

IN THE HEART of Puget Sound lies an almost secret destination. Country roads give rise to sweeping vistas, expansive beaches dotted with driftwood, a patchwork of farms and lush forests. Vashon Island is a step-back in time from the hustle and bustle of surrounding cities. Here, life seems to slow down, trees seem to grow greener, and friendliness is a few degrees warmer than on the mainland.

Vashon truly is an island! Accessible only by one of four breathtakingly beautiful ferry routes. A short and scenic ride from Seattle, Tacoma, or the Olympic Peninsula brings you to this rural, quirky town, the perfect destination for exploration and adventure. Maury Island is connected to Vashon by a short man-made isthmus and adds a rich maritime past in the small historic town of Dockton.

Maury about 6 miles long and Vashon about 12 miles long boast 51 miles of saltwater shoreline. Islanders share their waters with orcas, gray whales, humpback whales, porpoises, sea lions, and river otters. Vashon’s beaches are a great place to relax and have fun! Explore tide-pools and build a sandcastle or sit in the sun on a giant driftwood log and watch the parade of boats go by. Point Robinson, on the easternmost tip of Maury Island, is a region-wide destination with its historic lighthouse and driftwood beaches. It is here that some of the best whale sightings take place.

The Island’s rich history of farming and agriculture is showing resurgence with dozens

of small, organic farms. U-pick orchards and farm stands dot the countryside offering fresh daily harvests. From early spring to late fall the Vashon Farmer’s Market sets up in the Village Green. Fresh fruits and vegetables are in abundance along with eggs, cheeses and meats. Island craftsman offer their handmade jewelry, soaps, furniture and more! During the summer months there are food demonstrations and food inspired events. Vashon’s family farmers are working hard to restore and sustain the Island’s rich agricultural heritage.

Vashon’s many beautiful parks and natural preserves offer miles of trails to satisfy hikers of every level. Explore beautiful natural wetlands, ponds and fresh water creeks that fl ow through wild forested areas. Bring a picnic lunch and your swim suit to Dockton Park for a day of fun! Kayaking the waters of Vashon from the Jensen Point Park is a great way to explore the Island on a warm summer day or enjoy the beauty of the stars on a guided moonlight trip. Horseback riding is popular in the 363 acre expanse of Island Center Forest.

It is no secret that Vashon is teeming with talent; artists, musicians, actors and acrobats! The Island is fortunate to boast its own world renowned physical theater company, UMO Ensemble and the Vashon Island Theatre, named best rural theater by Seattle Weekly where there is something for everyone from box-offi ce hits to indie fi lms to events like the Oscar night and Last Comic Standing! Drama has its

place on Vashon too—the stage! Local groups present theater at its fi nest, with productions running the gamut from classics to comedies, musicals to drama.

Every weekend, there are concerts to be heard, plays to be seen and art to be admired. The streets of Vashon are fi lled with art lovers on the fi rst Friday of each month, when galleries open their doors for a festive gallery cruise. Refreshments, live music and late night shopping add to the lively atmosphere.

The Island rocks with a vibrant music scene. Up-and-coming singers and songwriters often play for tips at the local café and live music sets the stage at restaurants and pubs with hot rock and sultry blues every Friday and Saturday night. The Island is also home to an impressive array of choruses and choirs, including the 80 voice Vashon Island Chorale, Vashon’s new opera company with productions of “The Barber of Seville” and “Madama Butterfl y”, and the Vashon Maury Island Chamber Orchestra. Every other Thursday beginning June 23rd, you can enjoy international rhythms free in the “Concert in the Park” summer music series. Listen up—and you will be enchanted by what you hear!

When hunger strikes rest assured your appetite will be satisfi ed! Vashon has an outstanding assortment of restaurants, including bustling bistros, coffee houses, burger

joints, ethnic cafés, classic dining and simple gathering spots. From Indian to American, Mexican to Italian, local farm to table dining you’re assured of fi nding something cozy, eclectic, romantic or rock’n.

If the end of the day you fi nd you’re just not quite ready to leave, you’ll always be welcomed to stay and enjoy the warm hospitality of our Island Innkeepers. Beach cottages, bed and barns, Mediterranean style villas, our quaint inn, even Betty MacDonald’s farm, the home of the Island author of ‘Onions in the Stew’ are ready to show you hospitality Vashon style. There is something for everyone—oh except a hotel!

Come soak up the beauty of Vashon, enjoy our quirkiness, visit our unique shops and savor our homegrown way of life. Discover what makes Vashon unexpected • unleashed • unforgettable!

EVERETT – It seems Puget Sound drivers are unknowingly throwing away hundreds of dollars each year on car insurance. According to Snohomish County residents, Paul Pukis and Amy Drewel, the average Puget Sound driver pays about $407 per year more than they are legally required to.

“Since 2011 alone, 234 drivers have paid a combined $95,238 in unnecessary insurance fees. I think a lot of people are getting ripped off without even knowing it,” says Mr. Pukis. Pukis and Drewel, the owners of Mosaic Insurance Alliance in Lynnwood, said they made this startling discovery after their agency started offering an exclusive new insurance program the beginning of the year.

“I always knew a lot of drivers were paying way too much on their policies, but I never realized just how much until this year,” says Pukis. Fellow Snohomish County resident Kim Adcock found out fi rst hand. “Paul shopped out insurance and saved us $141/month ($1,692/year) from where we had our previous insurance,” states Mrs. Adcock.

According to Pukis and

Drewel, the average driver was overpaying by 27% ($407/year). Some local drivers were getting ripped off by as much as 64%.

With recent layoffs in the area, the local housing market slump and devastating natural disasters dominating the headlines, Mr. Pukis believes it’s time Puget Sound residents received some good news. “I think people are tired of being told they can’t save money on car insurance. I

know that for some people, $400 or $500 per year could make a real difference in their lives.”

Mosaic Insurance Alliance, which prides itself on “offering better coverage at lower prices,” shops around 10 different providers to fi nd the best rates available. Recently awarded the 2010 5-Star™ Overall Satisfaction Award for service, Pukis and Drewel believe in the complete relationship as well.

This special auto program is now available to all Washington drivers but can expire at any time. Contact Mosaic Insurance Alliance to see if you qualify at 866-552-0777.
