Decorative laminates are laminated productsprimarily used as furniture surface materialsor wall paneling. It can be manufactured aseither high or low-pressure laminate, with thetwo processes not much different from eachother except for the pressure applied in thepressing process. It is said that the firstdecorative High Pressure Laminate wasproduced by Marc-Anton Andri, who is the sixthgeneration of Johann Ludwig Andri in 1959.According to McGraw-Hill Dictionary ofArchitecture & Construction, high-pressurelaminates consists of laminates "molded andcured at pressures not lower than 1000 lb persq. in. (70 kg per sq. cm) and more commonlyin the range of 1,200 to 2,000 lb per sq. in. (84to 140 kg per sq. cm). The material covered bythis report may be used as well as panels oras vener for wood or other surfaces. Thelaminated sheets require no additional

decorative finish. The material is intended forinterior use. The specification applies to sheetsin which the only filter is paper and does notcover sheets with a core of any other materialcovered by this report is not intended for loadbearing applications.

SULFAMIC ACID PURECRYSTAL AND OTHER GRADES

    (GP, SR & TM GRADE)[EIRI-1643]

    Sulphamic acid IUPAC recommendation amido

sulphonic acid has the formula NH2SO2H. Itis a white crystalline solid non-volatile Non-hygroscopic D-2.1 m.p. 205oC (decomposes)soluble in water slightly soluble in organicsolvent odorless aqueous solution are highlyionized giving pH values lower than solutionof formic phosphoric and oxalic acids. All thecommon salts (including calcium barium andlead) are extremely soluble in watercombustible. In expectation of good sales andfuture demand the scope of the product isbright. At present there are few manufacturein organized sector Sulphamic Acid is mainlyused as descalant and the pure grade is usedin electroplating. Inspire of that sulphamic acidis also used for cleaning M/C. and instrumentsand in the manufacture of dyes paper & pulpindustries. Sulfamic acid, also known as

amidosulfonic acid, amidosulfuric acid, aminosulfonic acid, and sulfamidic acid, is amolecular compound with the formulaH3NSO3. This colorless, water-solublecompound finds many applications. Sulfamicacid melts at 205 0C before decomposing athigher temperatures to H2O, SO3, SO2 andN2. Sulfamic acid (H3NSO3) may be

considered an intermediate compoundbetween sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and sulfamide(H4N2SO2), effectively-though-replacing an-

OH group with an -NH2 group at each step. This pattern can extend no further in eitherdirection without breaking down the -SO2group. Sulfamates are derivatives of sulfamicacid.

    GLUTEN FREE BEER[EIRI-1641]

Gluten Free Beer tastes different from regularwheat beer. If you are coeliac/celiac or glutenintolerant and used to enjoy beer, then you maystill want to continue drinking some form of beerthat doesnt spring from barley, wheat, rye, spelt, oats, kamut and triticale. Every wonderwhat replaces barley and these other grainsthat are used in regular beer and whatproperties these other ingredients have. As beeris often made from wheat and barley and thesetwo grains contain gluten, gluten free beermanufacturers need to use substituted grains. The first thing a gluten free beer brewer needsto consider is whether they intend on making apale or dark lager. The answer to this is that

roasting grains for the longest time tends toproduce the darkest beers.

The phthalates are used principally asplasticizer for resins (Plastics) elastom are andorganic coatings. They may be generallycharacterised as high boiling, colourless, odourless, stable oily liquids which when mixedintimately with organic polymers, impertssoftness and flexibility to the f inished products.Small amount of Di-methyl phthalates is usedin the insect repellent formulation IMP is used

for the manufacture of nitrocellulose lacquersbut also as explosives. As general plasticizersthese phthalates are competing with thetriocresylic phosphate, alkyl adipates andsebacates, plant can be so designed that anyone of the phthalates esters can be made inthe same equipment and thus giving theflexibility of the production.

    AYURVEDIC MEDICINES[EIRI-1638]

Ayurvedic system of medicine is as old as theVedic age. Now-a-days people give preferenceto the Ayurvedic medicines as the allopathicmedicines are costlier and have side effects.Ayurvedic medicines are based on plants, animals extract and minerals both in singleingredient drugs and compound formulations, however, Ayurveda does not rule out anysubstances from being used as a potentialsource of medicine. Ayurvedic compoundformulations are mainly divided into two groupsviz. (1) Kasthausadhi (predominantly plantdrugs) and (2). Rasausadhi (predominantlymetals and minerals). There are severalcategories of Kasthausadhi formulations suchas Asavaristra, Avleha, Grafa Churena, Tailaetc. and of Rasausadhis such as Bhasma, Pisti,Lauha, Kapibadkva, Rasayana etc. TheAyurvedic drugs are derived from vegetable

(RAISINS) [EIRI-1636]Garlic is one of the important species coming

into Allium group, whose botanical name is A.Sativum. A hardyperennial, c60 cm in height, native to Central Asia and cultivated all overIndia. Bulbs made up of cloves; leaves long, flat, acute, sheahing the lower half of stem;scape slender, smooth, shining, spathes long, beaked, enclosing heads bearing solid bulbils;flowers small, white, prolonged into leafy points.

Garlic powder as such, is more handy forculinary as well as medicinally purposes. Garlic

can be economically converted into powder, using the technique developed by the centralfood technologica l, Mysore. For preparinggarlic powder, hot-air drying by the throughflow method is preferred, as it is moreeconomical and time-saving. According to thehistorical researches of Haffman, ginger wascertainly known to and highly esteemed by theancient greeks and Romans, who obtained thematerial from the Arabinan Traders, viz. the redsea. It was introduced to Germany and Francein 9th century and in England in the 10thcentury. Since the rhizome can be easilytransported, in lining state to considrabledistance, the plant has been introduced tomany tropical and sub tropocal countries of theworld.

SODA ASH PLANT FROMSOLVAY PROCESS [EIRI-1635]

Soda ash is chemically known as sodiumcarbonate. Broadly there are two ways in whichsoda ash is produced; it is either manufacturedsynthetically from salt or is obtained fromrefining of naturally available mineral, trona, ornaturally occurring sodium carbonate-bearingbrines. Globally, approximately 75% of sodaash is produced from the synthetic process.Processing costs of soda ash from naturallyavailable sources is less than themanufacturing costs of producing soda ash

synthetically, thereby making the naturallyavailable soda ash less expensive. There arethree main processes to manufacture soda ashfrom salt. 1. Standard Solvay Process: Thestandard Solvay process is characterized withlow salt utilization and requirement of goodquality of limestone and coke. This process, compared to other two processes, generateslarger amount of effluents and hence requiregood disposal facilities. 2. Modified SolvayProcess: The modified solvay process hasbetter salt utilization and requirement oflimestone is less. But the process requires veryhigh quality of salt without any impurities andammonia requirement is also high. 3. DryLiming Process: The raw material consumptionis low in the dry liming process.

    SODIUM HYDROSULFITETHROUGH FORMALDEHYDE

ROUTE [EIRI-1634]Sodium hydrosulfite is an important chemicalused in the textile industry and sugar industry. It is also used in rubber industry as a oxygenremover. The another names of sodiumhydrosulfite are sodium hydrosulfite and sodiumdithionite and Sodium Sulfoxylate. It has thechemical formula Na2 S2 O4 or Na2 S2 O42H2O. It is available in three forms: i.e. Lemoncoloured powder as flakes and also in liquidform. The liquid form of sodium hydrosulfite isknown as Reductione. It is combustiblematerial which decomposes exothermically inthe presence of heat, moisture or air. Sulfurdioxide is given of voilenthy when the dry saltis heated above 190oC. Aqueous solution ofdithionite are stable for several days at roomtemperatures if the PH is adjusted to 8-9 and ifair is excluded. Because of decomposition on

heating, boiling point and melting point are notrelevant.

    FROZEN FRENCH FRIES[EIRI-1633]

Frozen French Fries is an important snacks foodhaving good demand and is being appreciatedby masses. Freezing food preserves it from thetime it is prepared to the time it is eaten.Freezing food slows down decomposition byturning residual moisture into ice, inhibiting thegrowth of most bacterial species. In the foodcommodity industry, there are two processes:mechanical and cryogenic (or flash freezing). The freezing kinetics is important to preservethe food quality and texture. Quicker freezinggenerates smaller ice crystals and maintainscellular structure. Cryogenic freezing is thequickest freezing technology available due tothe ultra low liquid nitrogen temperature (-1960C). Frozen products do not require anyadded preservatives because microorganismsdo not grow when the temperature of the foodis below -9.50C.

Southeast. Asian cuisines, Macaroni is a driedfood product made from semolina and shapedin the form of slender tubes. It is popularlybelieved that Marco Polo, the 13th CenturyItalian explorer, introduced pasta to Europe fromChina. Italian pastas, such as spaghetti andmacaroni, are traditionally made from semolinaflour derived from durum (extra - hard) wheat.Pasta may be added to soups; boiled andserved with a sauce; served cold with otheringredients in a salad; stuffed with meat, cheeseor vegetables and then boiled and baked. Thereare dozens of varieties of Italian pasta, and theyare usually named for their sizes and shapes.Pasta is a highly nutritious food. A 56 - gram (2- oz) serving of pasta has less than 1 - gram(0.04 - oz) of fat, no sodium, no cholesteroland about 210 calories.

Thedeformed patter on a rebar will help theconcrete to adhere to the reinforcing steelsurface. The pattern on a deformed bar is notspecified, however, the spacing, and the heightof the bumps is regulated.

COTTON (RUI) FROM WASTECOTTON CLOTH (EIRI-1621)

The original of the cotton textile industry, thelargest single industry in the country. In India, cotton has had a pride of place among cashcrops from the earliest times. At present, thearea under cotton crop is over 8 millionhectares. Cotton can be recycled from pre-consumer (post-industrial) and post-consumercotton waste. Pre-consumer waste comes fromany excess material produced during theproduction of yarn, fabrics and textile products,e.g. selvage from weaving and fabric fromfactory cutting rooms. Post-consumer wastecomes from discarded textile products, e.g.used apparel and home textiles. During therecycling process, the cotton waste is firstsorted by type and color and then processedthrough stripping machines that first breaks theyarns and fabric into smaller pieces beforepulling them apart into fiber. The mix is carded

several times in order to clean and mix thefibers before they are spun into new yarns. The resulting staple fiber is of shorter lengthcompared to the original fiber length, meaningit is more difficult to spin. Recycled cotton istherefore often blended with virgin cotton fibersto improve yarn strengths. Commonly, not morethan 30% recycled cotton content is used inthe finished yarn or fabric.

The term Plastics usually refers to a large andvaried group of synthetic materials which aresolid in finished form but at some stage in theirprocessing are fluid enough to be shaped byapplication of heat and pressure. The use ofplastics in building has grown rapidly in the lastfew years. Plastics were first used for decorativeand non structural purposes but because ofincreased knowledge of the long termproperties of plastics particularly resistance tocreep and environmental effects some plasticsare now available that maintain long termstructural integrity, such as piping, doors andwindows, water tanks that can contain moderatepressures for a long period of time. During thelast decade Plastic (conversion) Industry hasprogressed at a fast rate. New fields ofapplication of plastics are continually beingdeveloped. Tile sometime ago drums, barrelswere conventionally manufactured out of M.S.

Sheets. Today we can get the drum and barrelmade out of Plastics. Blow moulding has beenthe most widely used method of themanufacture of hollow-ware out ofthermoplastics.

Dal Moth, Chanachur & Bhujia are the importantnames enhancing the flavour & taste asprocessed foods. These are food productshaving no historical background & becomes inmarket and in social & cultural synonym as thesociety became more advanced. Initially in long-long ago, people did not heard the name of Dal

moth, chur or Bhujia like food products. But nowa days it is well known not in India but worldwide. These are mainly consumed duringbreakfast period & are very much during social& cultural periods. These are used as tasty &flavored food as well as in medicinal way, however, a little it may be, according toayurveda) becau se of their carminativestimulative digestive properties. MANGANESE OREJIGGING PLANT

Manganese is one of the most importantstrategic minerals, being the one which thegreatest tonnages are required, and also the

Top Industries to Startone in which the United States has had a limitedproduction, Manganese is an absolutenecessity in the steel industry, as this industryuses about 14 pounds of manganese in everyton of steel produced. Annual statistics showthat over 90 percent of the annual amount ofmanganese consumed in the United Statesgoes into the production of steel. From this itcan therefore be seen that the stability andaccessibility of a steady supply of manganeseore is a controlling factor in the maintenanceof the steel industry. The remaining 10 percentof the manganese consumed yearly in theUnited States is used in the manufacture of drybatteries, chemicals, glass, tile, and brick. Oneof the outstanding characteristics of theutilization of manganese in steel making is thatin the process of being used, most of the metalis dissipated into the slag in a form not readilysusceptible to subsequent recovery as asecondary metal. In fact, the amounts that arereturned to use in this way are so small as to

be practically negligible, and the fullrequirements for each year must be net fromnew mine production.

    SODA ASH PLANT(FROM SOLUTION BRINE)

Sodium carbonate is a common inorganicindustrial chemical, also known as soda ash(Na2CO3). It is widely used in the manufactureof glass, chemicals, such as sodium silicatesand sodium phosphates, the pulp and paper

industries, the manufacture of detergents andfor the treatment of water. Soda ashmanufacture by Solvay technology is a verycomplex process. The natural sodium chloridesolution (brine) is extracted and purified(removal of solid impurities by filtration andremoval of calcium and magnesium ions byprecipitation). The discovery of the chemistryof the ammonia-soda process can be tracedback to the early 1800s. A few British andFrench plants operated in 1840-1860, butwithout success. The ammonia-soda processis usually called the Solvay process because in 1865Ernest Solvay started the first really successful plantat couillet in Belgium. In 1874, the first successfulammonia-soda plant was erected in England. Theammonia-soda process is the dominant technologyused throughout the world, hence this process isselected for production of soda ash.
