New Dewulf R3060: the pulse of a new generation
Dewulf, a specialist in potato and carrot harvesting technology, introduces its 5th generation of 3-
wheeled self-propelled two-row potato harvesters for next season. The R3060 has been
completely redesigned with the focus on the user. Superior final product quality, maximum
productivity in any conditions and easy to maintenance: with the Dewulf R3060, you harvest just a
bit better.
The new R3060 has been carefully developed further, without detracting from what makes the
machine so unique. The harvester can be fully customised according to the customer's situation. Its
modular design ensures no less than eight different harvester versions are available. Thanks to a
wide range of options, Dewulf can tailor a harvester to any need.
Even more attention has been given to the quality of the final product. Minimised drop heights, four
different cleaning modules available, rubber flights in the bunker ...Dewulf leaves nothing to chance.
Driving the R3060 can be called sublime, at the least. With the roomy new Claas cabin, Dewulf has
created a spacious working environment focused on the driver and which guarantees a phenomenal
view of the harvesting process. There is also a new set of instruments including the advanced
joystick, harvesting and traction display. The 5 pre-settable programmes allow the driver to respond
to changing conditions immediately. All control buttons are centralised which provides a great leap
forward in driver ergonomics. The 6 cameras and 2 x 10 inch screens allow full concentration on the
product flow.
Space has been made inside for an ultra-modern 350 hp Scania engine with AdBlue technology that
meets the stage IV final emission standards. Despite the fact that the engine has 20 more
horsepower than the previous generation, Dewulf has managed to reduce the consumption by up to
10%.
The R3060 is equipped with first-in-class components that are available worldwide, which reduces
the "total-cost-of-ownership" to a minimum. The chassis is even more accessible than previously and
all components are within easy reach.

Dewulf, founded in 1946, has been designed and produced in the heart of Europe's potato and
vegetable region, Roeselare. Robert Dewulf was passionate about the technical aspect of agriculture.
At the age of 25, he began forging ploughs in his father's barn. He soon began building the first
Dewulf potato harvesters. First pulled by horse, then later by a tractor. In the late 80s, Rika Dewulf
followed in her father's footsteps. She focused on export and product development. This approach
was rewarded with a "Gouden Aar" for the first self-propelled potato harvester on three wheels. In
2014, Dewulf is still a family business managed by 3 brothers and a brother-in-law: Hendrik
Decramer, Karel Decramer, Willem Decramer and Thomas Decan. Dewulf has grown to become the
harvesting specialist in potatoes and carrots. Each year, the 300 machines produced find their way to
more than 37 countries worldwide. In 2013, sales peaked at 44.5 million euros.

1. Exquisite craftsmanship through the years
The Dewulf R3060, two-row potato harvester, is often imitated but never equalled. In 1989, Dewulf
achieved a milestone with the introduction of the first self-propelled, three-wheeled, side-mounted
potato harvester with gooseneck control. For this exquisite concept, Dewulf received the famous
Gouden Aar during the 1990 Agribex exhibition in Brussels, Belgium. The striking harvester stood out
from the rest thanks to unprecedented manoeuvrability and the ability to continue harvesting when
others were forced to stop. Since the ground to be harvested has not been driven over, harvesting
can be completed in very extreme conditions without damaging the potato baulks. The balanced
weight distribution ensures excellent stability both in the field and on the road.
Since its launch, we have continued to carefully develop the machine, without detracting from what
makes it so unique. For next season, Dewulf is introducing the completely redesigned version of the
reference in 2-row self-propelled potato harvesters. Upon closer inspection of the machine, it is
immediately obvious that the professional user in the field has been carefully listened to.
We quickly travel through time with you...

2. A high-quality end product thanks to the proper harvesting
equipment
Regardless of whether potatoes are harvested for fresh food shops, seed-potato cultivation or the
processing industry, mechanical damage results in significant losses.
The R3060 is designed to allow cleaning modules to be set according to the conditions and the drop
heights to be reduced to a minimum.
Haulm separator
The R3060 comes standard equipped with a modern haulm separator manufactured from
wear-resistant Hardox steel and equipped with depth control and side-shift. The feelers
under the haulm separator follow the height of the potato baulks precisely and operate each
cylinder individually. This results in perfect positioning along the potato baulks and optimal
removal of the haulm, even in the curves. The automatic depth can be adjusted from within
the cabin. Growers who harvest at 90 cm can choose for the optional wider haulm separator.
Harvesting unit
Over the years, the standard classic harvesting unit with 2 diabolos and harvesting shares has
proven its reliability in all conditions. The optional exchangeable diabolo-less harvesting unit
with powered discs is also available and offers significant added value in wet and sticky
conditions.
Dewulf have also developed the following support tools:
APC (Automatic Pressure Control) - standard
The supporting capacity of the potato baulks can vary depending on weather conditions. APC
allows the driver to pre-set the desired pressure on the diabolos (e.g. reduce pressure in wet
conditions) to perfectly match the actual conditions.
DSC (Dewulf Synchronisation Control) - standard
If there is not enough soil on the sieving conveyors, potatoes can start to roll. In such cases,
the tubers are not supported sufficiently. This impairs quality immediately. These situations
are common, when for example start harvesting at the beginning of the rows or at times you
suddenly have to reduce speed. Your driving speed at that moment is significantly slower
than the running speed of the webs with the travel speed in the field.
Dewulf therefore developed DSC, which reduces potatoes rolling backwards to an absolute
minimum. DSC enables the driver to synchronise the speed of the sieving webs with the
driving speed.

While the sieving webs on other harvesting machines are only able to rotate at a constant
speed, the R3060 lifts the potato baulk evenly by continuously linking the gear in the field to
the speed of the sieving conveyor. This is first-class solution to limit quality loss to a
minimum.
ADC (Automatic Depth Control) - optional
If you need to work on a hilly parcel, the R3060 can be equipped with ADC. The harvesting
channel will then follow the slope of the plot optimally. Sensors continuously feel the level of
the potato baulks and direct two cylinders to guarantee optimal positioning of the harvesting
channel relative to the field.
Unprecedented sieving capacity
Equipped with three sieving webs, the R3060 guarantees unparalleled sieving capacity, which
limits drop heights to an absolute minimum. The direction of the first and second sieving
conveyors can also be reversed. The second sieving web comes standard equipped with 1
rotary and 2 eccentric agitators. If extra cleaning is desired, a rotary agitator can be added to
the first sieving web and an eccentric agitator can be added to the third sieving web. These
agitators are speed adjustable and can be turned on and off independently.
8 equipment levels thanks to modular construction
Countries and regions have their own distinctive features and, in many cases, little in
common. The R3060 is therefore available in 8 different models to respond to these specific
conditions. With a wide range of options, Dewulf offers customised solutions:

Choosing the best solution for any time and anywhere
Depending on the customer's conditions, one of four different cleaning modules can be
selected: sieving module, axial module, Easy-clean module or star roller module. These have
a unique position within the harvester so no compromises need to be made. The cleaning
modules are positioned after the lower hedgehog conveyor. This results in the soil being
better presented to the cleaning module. Large soil clumps are already broken up and a
sieving web does not need to be removed to install the cleaning module. The inclination of
the hedgehog conveyor and cleaning module can be adjusted independent of one another if
more/less cleaning is desired. A parallelogram construction allows the inclination of the
hedgehog conveyor to adjust automatically to that of the cleaning module to ensure the
drop height always remains the same.
The choice between a sieving module, axial module, Easy-clean module or a star roller
module (specific for carrots) depends on the conditions at that time. The various modules
can be exchanged easily and only takes about 15 minutes.

3. New operating environment, new controls, superior user
comfort
With the roomy new Claas cabin, Dewulf has
created a spacious working environment focused
on the driver. Comfort, plenty of space and
ergonomics have been given a new meaning. The
cabin is located precisely above the harvesting
shares to guarantee a phenomenal view of the
harvesting process.
The new joystick control, harvesting display and
traction display provide the driver with the luxury
and simplicity required to operate the machine. All
controls have been placed close together to allow
easy, convenient operation. Pedals provided to
control the machine's automatic level control and
to operate the rear-steering. In addition to the
spacious environment in general, there is also
more storage space and an optional refrigerated
cool box can be provided in the cab to accompany
the driver through the long days.
In the cabin, the entire product flow can be monitored using the 6 cameras and 2 x 10 inch colour
monitors. Quad-view even allows images from 4 cameras to be displayed on one monitor. The
monitors are also equipped with touch screens: a press on the monitor displays the selected camera
image on the full screen. Press again and it returns to normal Quad-view.
For extra comfort, Dewulf has included a mounting bar with control buttons making bending over
unnecessary. The bar also allows various peripheral devices to be attached, such as a GPS.
Driving with the R3060 is sublime. By using Cruise Control, the ideal harvesting speed to be set and
returned to time after time to allow the driver to fully concentrate on harvesting. Regardless of the
weather conditions, the driver always enjoys the ideal temperature, maintained by the standard
equipped automatic air conditioning.

Joystick
Ergonomic design has created a joystick, which is comfortable in the
hand and easy to operate without requiring too many hand
movements. The stick's X and Y axes are used to adjust the speed of
the machine. Communication with the displays is via CAN bus. The
joystick has 32 keys (16 + 16 extra by pressing the button on the
rear) to allow a large number of functions to be controlled directly.
It is also possible to link various harvesting parameters to 5 pre-set
programmes. This allows the entire setting of the machine to be
changed with just one press of the button. Status LEDs indicate
when the hydraulic drive is operating or when an error occurs.

4. Pure power. Day in, day out
The latest engine technology gives a new dimension to performance, fuel consumption and
emissions. The new Scania DC09 common rail, stage IV final engine generates 350 horsepower,
excellent flexibility and low consumption. More torque, less fuel and high reliability. Under normal
operating conditions, the engine operates at only 1500 rpm and has lots of buffering capacity. With
minimal emissions as a result, it offers a positive contribution to the environment, while the
efficiency just keeps improving. Despite the fact that the engine has 20 more horsepower than the
previous generation, Dewulf has managed to reduce the consumption by up to 10%. In addition to
this standard engine with Ad Blue, it is possible to extend to an optional power output of 400 hp. For
non-EU countries where good quality diesel fuel is not always available, an identical stage II engine
can be installed.
When conditions deteriorate, the added value of the R3060 is even more obvious. The R3060 is
designed with oversized wheel motors and robust reducers. The torque to each wheel can be
adjusted separately by choosing between torque and speed. Regardless of whether dealing with hilly
conditions, low weight bearing capacity or sandy soil, the appropriate setting can be selected for any
situation. When others must stop, you can keep harvesting and gain productive harvesting time.
Scania has grown into a worldwide leader in engine manufacturing allowing them to not only offer
solutions for lorries and buses, but also for agriculture, marine and general industrial applications.
Scania provides flexible and reliable high-end engines and excellent service worldwide. Thanks to the
many sectors in which they operate, they are a leader in providing engines with exceptionally
favourable emissions standards.
For a comparison of the former Deutz engine with the new Scania engines, see Appendix 1.

5. Strong chassis, strong arguments
The new R3060 has the highest degree of accessibility in the market. Extra attention has been given
to ergonomic and safe access to all service components such as the air filter, oil level, water levels,
etc. Dewulf uses first-in-class components that are available worldwide. This allows "total cost of
ownership" to be kept as low as possible.
In the two-row self-propelled segment, its ideal weight distribution and low centre of gravity makes
the R3060 the most stable machine in its class.
The "look & feel" were also considered. From now on, the new R3060 will arrive at the field in a red
and grey colour scheme.
Various wheel configurations are possible to adequately respond to the customer's conditions:

6. Large bunker, unloading on the move = maximum productivity
Standing still while unloading uses up precious time. Time which most operators in many cases do
not have, partly because weather conditions are often so uncontrollable. Dewulf therefore offers a
bunker that can unload on the move as standard to guarantee continuous productivity. Unloading
while moving can increase productivity by 25%. The bunker is produced as one piece to allow faster
unloading and which maintains the quality of the potatoes.
The spacious seven tonne bunker is attached to the chassis for optimum stability. A moving part with
a goose neck attached to its end reaches deeply into the tipper, so that falling height is minimised.
The driver has a clear view of the unloading process from the cabin. There is also no need watch as
the bunker fills since this occurs fully automatically and is included as standard equipment. This
allows the driver to fully concentrate on harvesting the potatoes. The minimum drop height in the
bunker is negligible and can be adjusted from the cabin to suit the driver's preference.
A significant amount of attention has been given to the bunker design resulting in a machine that is
extremely versatile. When combined with user-friendly controls, the outcome is unprecedented
efficiency.
To further ensure the quality of the potatoes, rubber flights were selected, an optional funnel hopper
can be installed at the end of the bunker to fill e.g. boxes and the grill at the back of the cabin has
been modified.
