Transforming 2010 If you are looking for God to use your God-given skills and passion to impact lives, leave a legacy, and help us harvest a nation for God, then Uganda’s 2010 short-term mission trip is right for you.Join DELTA Ministries, in partnership with Christian Life Ministries, this year:

Uganda, located in East Africa, is a great country. If the natural beauty of its landscape doesn’t leave memories that will last a lifetime, the uniquely refreshing attitudes of its people will. However, Uganda is emerging from de-cades of political turmoil and corruption which has resulted in war, instability and poverty. Its people have suffered too long from the effects of horrible diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

Through compassion work and evangelism, we are gradually changing this dependent nation. With your help, this country can change its history for the better. With Christ, we can make history in Uganda together!

seat Creole lessons. I can now say several phrases in Creole, and by the end of the trip people would actually answer my questions instead of just laughing at me. One of the most uncomfortable yet sat-

isfying moments was when Francklin led me by the hand over to meet his sister. While it was a little awkward holding hands with a man (it’s culturally appropriate there), I was humbled by the effort he made and the importance he placed by intro-ducing me to a member of his family. I wish you could meet Francklin. Better yet, go to www.haiti4him.com and watch an eight-minute video of him talking about the ministry cen-ter and his escape. I have already watched it several times!

“Between Monday and Tuesday nights, we experienced three aftershocks of 4.7 magnitude. The fi rst night we panicked and ran out of the house. We ran so fast, in fact, a couple of us found the sheets we were sleeping with on the fl oor outside our room. While I was standing outside barefoot, I realized that if this had been on the day of the earthquake, I

would have nothing but the shorts I was wearing. The next night we were awakened again by an after shock. This time we were prepared, and we calmly exited the house. After return-ing to our beds, we felt another small tremor before we could get back to sleep. We didn’t evacuate, but it was enough to move several of us out to the balcony. As I stood out there, I tried to fi gure out whether I was afraid to go back in. After a few minutes I said goodnight to those on the balcony and went back to bed -- but not really to sleep. For the rest of the trip, most of us (me included) elected to sleep outside, as most (if not all) of the Haitians were doing. All Wednesday morning I found myself evaluating each building based on whether or not this is where I wanted to be in case of an earthquake. I can only begin — just barely — to understand the fear and anxiety with which they live.”

Now, to the NEXT STEPS: As you read this, I will have been in Haiti for the third time – this time meeting in Port au Prince with Missions Door senior leaders and leaders from both the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Connecting Point “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

Do what it says.” James 1:22

Opportunities to Pray –As we respond to the recent disaster in Haiti with compassion and help, let’s bring a supernatural dimension to our response through prayer. Now is the time to lay hold of God on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as all who have been affected by the earthquake. First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people…1 Tim. 2:1 (ESV)

Pray For Earthquake Victims:• Who have lost loved ones, homes, possessions, and livelihoods, as they struggle to recover and rebuild their lives• Living in tent cities, who are hot, crowded, weary and fearful• Government officials, medical professionals, church leaders, and others -- all working to meet the overwhelming needs in Haiti.• Pray that God will provide needed resources, guide His people into communities where He wants them involved, and use DELTA’s relief efforts (and those of others) to reach hurting people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Pray That For Teams Going to Help:• God would be glorified in what the teams are able to accomplish• God would help them bring His comfort to people whose lives have been devastated by this disaster• Team members would have sensitive spirits toward how God is working, have servants’ hearts, and be humble.• Pray that the presence of God would be realized in the midst of all the brokenness and need, that Emmanuel, God with us, our Savior Jesus, will be known and experienced by all.

Opportunities to Go --Haiti Relief and Recovery Teams: Your church can send a team to assist in support roles, medical care, debris removal, pastoral care, aid distribution, and rebuilding. DELTA also has openings for individuals to serve on teams as well. All our teams are working in submission to the Haitian Christian leaders and their long-term plans for recovery. Teams can serve for one to three weeks going sometime next year will likely assist in rebuilding.

Opportunities to GiveFor 31 years, DELTA has continued to follow God’s leading for mobilizing the church and His people for ministry. Answering this call has resulted in nearly 8,000 individuals from over 700 churches sharing the love of Christ in 91 countries. This journey has been possible thanks to the generous giving of God’s people.

In 2009 DELTA mobilized 901 individuals on 71 teams to 36 countries. We rejoice in how God provided to make this possible.

In 2010 we see God leading us to continue to train and send hundreds more to Haiti and nearly 30 other countries to share His love.

We cannot do this without your help and continued sacrificial giving. If you would like to partner through giving in 2010, visit www.deltaministries.com to give online, or gifts can be mailed to:

THE DELTA FLYER AT A GLANCE● Haiti Relief UPDATE: - By Brian Heerwagen● Uganda Update● Connecting Point - Pray, Go, Give for Haiti● Business Wall of Prayer

Our goal: to organize aspects of the relief and recovery efforts, and to articulate the vision for the next fi ve years. In addition, Tory also will have been in Haiti again, meeting with a group of key pastors from the States who are looking for strategic partnerships for ministry and rebuilding in Haiti.

Th ese two aspects will allow us to take the vision of the Haitian leaders and weave it together with what churches and teams can provide, thus establishing our strategy for many opportunities to serve in Haiti for a long time to come.

Continuing fi nancial need: Please consider making donations to the “Haiti Relief and Recovery” fund at DELTA Ministries International. All Haiti donations are used for Haiti and allow us to continue providing long-term support.

We continue to pray for God’s grace and mercy for those in need, and hold out hope that He will use the Church as the instrument by which many lives are saved, both here on earth, and for eternity. Please follow what is happening in Haiti, even though it is beginning to fade out of the news. The needs are immense and suffi cient for everyone to play a part.▲

‘Wall of Prayer’ Ministry Supports Christian Business Leaders“In 2009, DELTA began an on-line “Wall of Prayer” ministry to help Christian businesses, many of whom are facing signifi cant fi nancial challenges in these tough econom-ic times,” said DELTA’s Chief Business Development Offi cer Chris McDaniel. “Our staff has committed to pray regularly for each one listed on our website.

“Currently 19 businesses from the West Coast and as far away as New York and Louisiana have registered for this prayer ministry. We’re already hearing about results,” he said.

“We would like to encourage other Christian businesses to be a part of this growing ministry by registering on-line at www.deltaministries.com and clicking on Business Wall of Prayer in the main menu.”
