This presentation is to update the NPP Board on the NPP Vision:
“One Community – One Million Strong
and
To seek endorsement of the Business Case for the acquisition of R&R properties

• About what we would like the CF community to be, what we would like NPP to do / be
– Sub-theme – how can NPP meet its NDA requirements
• There has ‘never’ been a strategic vision or real strategic plan for CF Community(ies) or NPP
– Decision making has tended to be ‘ad hoc’
– Deal with the crisis of the day

• Our community services approach is still rooted in the CF – base structure of the 1950s
– NPP was central to the success of the CF communities of the 1950s and will need to be central to any future successful CF community model
• Underutilized today; capacity to be powerful enabler
• A Key Assumption
– Former CF members want to belong – want to maintain their CF affiliation
• Building on this desire will strengthen the CF community
• A key element of the US model is that retired personnel remain vital to and are valued by the military community

• Inclusive CF community will be the primary vehicle for enabling progress in solving the following challenges:
– Affordable housing – a central community theme is affordable home ownership either directly, or indirectly through a national NPP co-operative approach
– Access to medical and dental care – expanded community provides critical mass to support family care needs
– Access to child (family) care services – expanded community and multi-use facilities
– Spousal (and family and post-retirement) employment opportunities – includes leveraging national partnerships
– Family Education – expanded community will provide leverage for negotiating inter-jurisdictional issues

• Discounted Accommodation, Transportation and Entertainment, Including Universal Studios
– National Discount Program
– NPP Owned & Operated Vacation Properties

– Ont accounts for 45% of all visits to the US
– Ont and Que account for 60% of all visits to Florida
• Canadians visit more often and stay longer
• Orlando and Tampa are the two most popular Florida destinations
• Fifty percent of CF community resides in Ont and Que (500K pers)
– A further 21% live in the Maritimes
• Favourable market conditions means ‘this is the time’
– Depressed US Real Estate Market and Strong Canadian Currency
• A new initiative to address leisure travel needs of our community
– Bella Vida in Orlando area – with a Family Focus
– Sun City Center in Tampa Area – for Members 55+

• Project Timeline – All approvals would be required by Jun 11– Construction contracts would be signed in Jul 11– Delivery of constructed properties would occur Nov/Dec 11– Rentals could commence 1 Jan 12– All properties would be delivered by Jun 2012
