Fuel SurchargeA variable surcharge is applied to the weight charge o eachshipment. Tis is derived rom publicly available uel oilindices that are accessible on the DHL Express website atwww.dhl.com. Te charge is calibrated every month to theoil price that was current two months prior to the billing

month. Te Fuel Surcharge applies to domestic andinternational shipments.

Remote AreasA xed surcharge is applied when a shipment is sent to orimported rom a remote location such as highlands andislands. For shipment weights over the billed weight o 70kg,a higher per kilo charge is payable. Te Remote Areasurcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Over Weight PieceA xed surcharge is applied to any piece that exceeds thescale weight o 70kg. Te Over Weight Piece surchargeapplies to domestic and international shipments.

Over Sized PieceA xed surcharge is applied to any non-palletized piece witha single dimension in excess o 120cm, or any pallet with abase dimension in excess o 120cm. Te Over Sized Piecesurcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Bio/Phyto/Veterinary Controls.The arrangement by DHL, of any bio, health,phyto-sanitary, veterinary, quarantine,CITES or similar controls required by anyregulatory agency, and the preparationof any related paperwork, to facilitatethe clearance of a shipment. This includes,but is not limited to, licenses, permits, andinspections required by a Fish & Wildlifeor other government agency, for certainimported commodities determined by thecountry concerned. The service charge isdetermined locally.

Bonded Storage.Storage charges apply when the shipmentcannot be released by Customs due toinaccurate or missing paperwork, or whenthe Shipper requests a Handover to Broker.Storage charges will take effect three

calendar days after the freight arrival dateor broker notication, whichever is later.The charge per day will be assessed locally.

Bonded Transit Documents.The in-bond entry allows non-documentforeign origin goods to travel under bondthrough a country or customs union to naldestination for clearance by the importersbroker or into a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).The service charge is determined locally.

Certicate of Origin.Some destinations require certication forcertain commodities. The purpose of theCerticate of Origin is to authenticate thecountry of origin of the merchandise /goodsbeing shipped. Upon request, or when thedocumentation is missing at origin, DHLwill attach the certicate on behalf of thecustomer for a service charge determinedlocally.

Clearance Authorization.When the Importer of the shipment hasspecically requested contact before thecustoms clearance process begins, DHLcontacts the Importer for that authorization.This often helps the Importer to ensure thatall clearance paperwork is rst prepared. Aservice charge is determined locally and paidby the Importer.

Formal Clearance.Non-restricted merchandise based on valueand commodity is usually cleared on aconsolidated manifest for more cost andtime efcient processing. DHL will assess aservice charge when the importer howeverrequests a single informal entry when theshipment is actually qualied to be clearedinformally on the consolidated manifest.

Handover to Broker.At the customer's request, the clearancepaperwork is transferred to an independentbroker to handle customs clearance. DHLwill assess a service charge per waybill tocomplete the handover. DHL is subsequentlynot responsible for the timeliness of thesubmission to Customs or for the release of the shipment.

Import / Export Duties.Duties are applied by Customs at the timeof initial entry and these vary dependingon contents, origin of shipment and importcountry. Additional duties may be appliedby Customs after the initial customs entrywhen estimated duties were paid or whenan entry is audited causing a change in theduty owed. These charges will appear onthe duty invoice presented by DHL.

Import / Export Taxes.Taxes are applied by Customs on the valueof the goods being imported.

Import Paperwork.DHL will provide copies of importdocumentation for records previouslysupplied to the importer or ultimate receiverat an additional charge per entry. Copiesof import documentation will be suppliedby the importing Gateway when requestedby the receiver. Copies of les for expressmanifested clearances are not available. Theservice charge is determined locally.

Multiline Entry.A service charge per line item will beassessed for multi-line item entries withmore than ve lines, for example whenone shipment has multiple commodities,origins or invoices. All commodities requireidentication and must be classied underunique harmonized code tariff numbers.

Obtaining Permits & Licenses.When requested by the customer orrequired by Customs, DHL applies a servicecharge for the preparation and submissionof any entry necessary to clear Customs, orfor the preparation of the necessary importpaperwork to obtain a missing State orCustoms permit or license to authorize theimport of certain goods. The service chargeis determined locally.

Payment Deferment.A service charge is applied to any import of a non-document shipment for which DHLadvances to Customs any duties, charges,or taxes and then re-bills the receiver. Theservice charge will be equal to 2% of theamount advanced subject to a standardminimum. This processing charge willappear as a separate line item on the dutyinvoice presented by DHL.

HOW TO WEIGH AND PAY

Volumetric weightYou may be sending a large, lightweight shipment where its volumetric weight

exceeds its actual weight. If so, the cost of the shipment is calculated on the spaceyour consignment takes up on the aircraft. This is a standard IATA method.

To calculate the volumetric weight of your shipment simply multiply the length (cm)x height (cm) x width (cm) of the shipment package and divide the result by 5000 orby 6,000 for DHL JUMBO BOX and DHL EXPRESS PALLET

Payment for DHL Express servicesYou can pay for DHL Express services either in cash, credit card, AXS or via banktransfer. You can open an account with DHL Express to pay via bank transfer.
