High-strength CalciferolA review in Prescribers Journal (1981; 21: 164-71) calls for acalciferol tablet containing 5000 or 10 000 units. "High-strengthcalciferol tablets" (described in the B.P. 1980) contain 250 gergocalciferol or cholecalciferol equivalent to 10 000 units ofvitamin D. This monograph replaced the one in the 1973 B.P. on"strong calciferol tablets", following medical advice that thosetablets, which contained 1-25 mg. calciferol, were potentiallydangerous.

Diploma in Sports Medicine

Agreement has been reached between the Institute of SportsMedicine and the London Hospital Medical College on the syllabusof a postgraduate medical diploma course in sports medicine. Thecourse will last for three academic terms and will be held at theLondon Hospital Medical College, starting in October, 1981, withthe support of a number of medical and sports bodies.
