Digital Literacy 1 SkillsHere is a snapshot of what students have learned this year and how they have used
some of the G-Suite tools in the class.
Digital Literacy 1 Skills: Notetaking● Using NoodleTools for research
Students used NoodleTools during the research process to keep track of sources and to
take notes and organize them.
I liked working on
noodle tools and
creating citations
and note cards.
It made it all much easier.
Digital Literacy 1 Skills: Paraphrasing● To practice paraphrasing, students use authentic texts and Google Docs to take
notes.
Students used text colors
to indicate paraphrasing.
I use paraphrasing in science if we are
researching something
and if we need to write down information.
Digital Literacy 1 Skills: Finding the Main Idea● Students practice finding the main idea.
Students read an article and took notes to identify the main
idea on a Google Doc.
I have used t
he skill
of learning ho
w to
gather inform
ation
to make several
key points.
Digital Literacy 1 Skills: Research Skills● Using the Library Media Center webpage, NoodleTools, online databases, and
G-Suite tools, students conduct research.
I have learned how to organize my ideas.
I now can
research topics
easier and faster
than before for
out of school
projects.
Digital Literacy 1 Skills: G-Suite Presentations● Students utilize a variety of G-Suite and other online tools to create projects and
presentations.
Students used
Smore.com, a website
that allows users to
design online flyers, to
present information
they discovered in
their research.
Digital Literacy 1: Other Tools● During class, students use other instructional tools such as Google Classroom and
Socrative.com.
I like Google
Classroom
because it allows
me to do many
things digitally.
Students completed assignments on Google Classroom and
participated in class activities using Socrative.com.
Digital Literacy 1: Student FeedbackQUESTION: How have you used the skills you are learning outside of the class?
When I was doing homework for another class,
I had to research something, and from this class it was much easier than last year because I learned better research skills.
I have used my resear
ch
skills to help me write a
report on peacock
jumping spiders and
explain to my mom why
they are very int
eresting.
I have used these skills in other classes such as
English because instead of just copying a text I now can paraphrase it. Also I think about being safe
online when i'm at home
I learned about making citations in this class, and then I applied that knowledge to helping a family member with her book by making a bibliography for her resources.
In World Studies we have to write down a lot of things, and by
using “caveman speak,” I am able to write down just the very important
parts.
Digital Literacy 1We look forward to seeing your children in Digital Literacy 1!
I like solving the real life problems because we have to come up with real life solutions.
