DIGITAL MARKETING - WEBSITE // SUBMISSION 1 DIGITAL MARKETING - WEBSITE SREDA.COM Purpose SREDA’s website is the primary marketing tool used to promote the Saskatoon Region as the best place to live, work and invest. This is because it has the largest reach capability and ability to market all areas of SREDA in one medium. Due to this, a large focus of the 2016 marketing plan was a to redesigning SREDA. com. The goal of the redesigned website was to increase traffic to the website and strengthen brand awareness for SREDA. This was done through incorporating SREDA’s new creative-theme and enhancing the navigation so users can find the information they need faster. A focus was also put on including economic content that is timely and relevant and displaying it in digestible manner. Target Audience SREDA’s primary target audience is decision makers working in the Saskatoon Region’s key industries. More specifically, males and females, aged 35-55, that work in a fast-paced environment and find significance in staying up to date with the local economy. The secondary target audience is businesses and investors operating outside of the Saskatoon Region that have the potential to expand or invest in the Saskatoon Region. The redesigned website was developed to attract these two audiences, and provide them with the information they need in a creative, easy-to-understand way. Outcome After months of development, on May 9 SREDA launched the redesign of SREDA.com. Highlights of the website include a homepage feature showcasing SREDA’s six pillars of economic development, an improved news section with social sharing capability and a key industries section with up-to-date information on the economy. The homepage is unique when compared to other economic development organizations, because it is the first of its kind to focus solely on the six economic development areas of the organization on the homepage. The most significant additions to the website include a regional statistics section with data on each member municipality and an economic overview section featuring recent statistics and reports on the local economy. The regional statistics page was developed in collaboration with Townfolio, a community profile network. The page features relevant data on member municipalities including demographics, companies, quality of life and more. This data is automatically updated on the website via the Townfolio profiles giving users the most up-to-date information possible. The economic overview page is one of the most commonly visited pages as it includes relevant, timely information on the Saskatoon Region economy. This section contains information on key industries, our quarterly economic dashboard featuring a rating for the economy and SREDA Insights a commentary and analysis on the latest news impacting the economy and what it means for businesses. Impact Since the launch of the website SREDA has seen a significant increase in traffic. For example, the website had a 43% increase in visits and a 16% increase in page views in July 2016 when compared to July 2015. The reach of the website has been substantial. In July 2016, 75% of visitors were from Canada of which 66% were from Saskatchewan. On the flip side, 25% of visitors were from outside of Canada with the top visiting countries being Russia, the United States, Kyrgyzstan and India. These statistics show the website is being widely used and the improvements in content and usability have resulted in increased website traffic and opportunities to market the Saskatoon Region across the globe.
