Course OverviewThe Diploma of Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others.

They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.

They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources. It is an excellent ‘stepping stone’ to further university study.

By successfully completing a Certificate IV or Diploma qualification at Kiama Cmmunity College Inc. students will be guaranteed entry into the University of Wollongong’s Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Arts.

Students may also use their qualification to apply for competitive entry into other degree courses and campuses of UOW.

Entry Requirements

Students enrolling in this course must have;• access to a computer with at least Windows 7, Microsoft Word 2010,

Microsoft Excel 2010, Adobe Reader• basic computer skills e.g. use of internet, email, basic word processing

skills, and• completed Year 12 or equivalent or be able to demonstrate similar

literacy and numeracy levels. All students complete a literacy and numeracy test as part of our enrolment process.

Pathways into the qualification

Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:• BSB50415 Diploma of Business Administration, BSB42015 Certificate IV

inLeadership and Management or other relevant qualification/s, or• extensive vocational experience in a range of environments in senior

support roles.

Examples of indicative job roles for candidates seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:

• Frontline Managers• Middle Managers• Supervisors• Business Operators

This breadth of expertise would equate to the competencies required to undertake this qualification.

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving this qualification candidates may undertake a variety of business studies at the advanced diploma level.

Course StructureThis qualification includes 12 units of competency. ‘My Way’ Study Option‘My Way’ is a flexible study option is available for this course which allows you to study where and when you want. If you elect to study using ‘My Way’ , you will have a personally appointed support tutor, customised study plan and access to a learning portal. Call the College for more information.

AssessmentThis is an accredited course. Successful completion of each unit entitles you to a statement of attainment. Successful completion of all units entitles you to a Diploma of Leadership and Management BSB51915. Your tutor will give you detailed information about the assessment tasks to be completed at commencement of training.

Need extra help?We endeavour to provide access to courses for adults (over 15 years of age) regardless of gender, national or ethical background, physical or intellectual impairment, religious affiliation or age. We will assist a student with any specific learning need to access an appropriate program.

Study TimeYou will need to allocate 8-10hrs per week of study time to complete this course in the required time as advised by your tutor in addition to scheduled support sessions with your trainer.

Course FeesThis course is subsidised by the NSW Government. Call to confirm your eligibility. Subsidised rate $2850. Full Fee $7590. (VET Student Loans available). Kiama Community

College and its campuses, including Shoalhaven Community College, are approved to offer VET Student Loans under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 to students undertaking Diploma qualifications and above. VET Student Loans are a HECS style loan. Students repay their loan to the Australian Government through the tax system once a student reaches an income threshold for repayment. The compulsory repayment threshold for the 2017-2018 income year is $55,874. To find out about your eligibility call the college to talk to one of our friendly staff.
