Commissioning of Programmes for DD-Arunprabha

List of proposals selected by Evaluation Committee(s).

Invitation for Commissioning of Programmes for DD-ARUNPRABHA was uploaded on

the Website of Doordarshan on 28.12.2016 and also published in the newspapers. In

response to the invitation 1104 proposals of various genres were received by

Doordarshan. All proposals were scrutinized and Reader’s Report was prepared,

including all essential information about the proposals. Prasar Bharati constituted

Screening Committees to scrutinize and shortlist these proposals. The Committees

consisted of two outside experts and a senior officer of Doordarshan. The Committees

were headed by the experts distinguished in their respective fields. These Committees

examined the proposals from 15.5.2017 to 26.5.2017. The Screening committees

shortlisted 390 Proposals for Evaluation.

Prasar Bharati constituted Evaluation Committees to select proposals for commissioned

category for DD Arunprabha out of the shortlisted proposals. The Committees consisted

of four outside experts and a senior officer of Doordarshan. The Committees were headed

by the experts distinguished in their respective fields. These Committees examined the

proposals by inviting concerned Producer/ Production house with their presentation from

06.07.2017 to 10.07.2017. The committees have selected 56 proposals from North-East

and 59 proposals from open competition on merit.

Doordarshan is happy to announce the list of proposals in different genres which have

been selected by Evaluation Committee(s).

NOTES

1. Result for Reality Show in open category is not being announced as directed by Honourable

High Court of Jammu & Kashmir, Srinagar.

2. Evaluation committee did not select any proposal in Magazine programme under Northeast

category.

3. All results are provisional and subject to final verification based on documents submitted by

the Production house/Producer.

4. If Individual Producer/ Production house/Members belonging to the same family is

selected in more than one genre they have to choose any one genre as they will be

awarded only one assignment as per the Guidelines clause no. 16.4.

A Brief Profile of Chairpersons/Members of Evaluation Committees

for Commissioned Programmes of DD-Arunprabha

Committee No.1

1. Sh. Manoj Joshi (Chairperson)

Manoj Joshi is a National Award winning actor and a

renowned theatre, film and television artist. Some of

his well acclaimed plays are Chanakya, Doctor Tame

Pan, Gandhi Virudh Gandhi etc., and popular TV

serials are Maa, Ek Mahal Ho Sapanon ka (also in

Gujarati as Sapana Na Vavetar), C. I. D., Gulaal,

Samrat Ashok, Kasam se etc. He has acted in over

100 popular Hindi feature films which include

Sarfarosh, Devdas, Hulchal, Dhoom, Goalmaal, Phir

Hera Pheri, Vivaah, Guru, Bhagam Bhaag, Billu Barber etc. He has received

many awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award by Glorious Gujarat,

New Jersey, USA and Sangeet Natak Kala Akademi Award for contribution to the

theatre.

2. Sh. T.S. Nagabharana (Member)

T.S. Nagabharana is a renowned filmmaker from

Kannada Film Industry. He started his film journey in

1978 and received National, State and other awards

for his debut film “Grahana”in 1979. He has made 34

films and received 9 National awards, 17 State

awards apart from international and other awards.

His eight films have secured Indian Panorama entries

in International Film Festivals. He has also made four

children films. He has been a Board Member of CIFEJ (Centre International de

Film pour l’enfance et La Jeunesse/ International Centre of Films for Children and

Youth). He has also made several mega TV serials for National and Regional

Networks. He has been National Film Award Jury four times and represented

India in International Film Festivals as Jury a number of times. He was the Jury

Chairman of 1st BRICS International Film Festival.

3. Sh. D.J. Narain (Member)

D.J. Narain, a bureaucrat of 1990 batch, is

presently the Additional Director General of Media

& Communications, Ministry of I&B, Govt. of India.

He is a known name in the field of music, theatre,

films and publishing. He is the front person and

lead singer-cum-composer of renowned pop and

rock band ‘The Aryans’. He has also served as the

Director of Film & Television Institute of India

(FTII), Pune and Director General of Films Division.

He has released more than 60 songs in

international recording labels and has been awarded “Karamveer Samman” by

International Federation of NGOs (INCONGO) and Youth Icon Award by Sony TV.

4. Ms. Mitali Namchoom (Member)

Mitali Namchoom is an Indian Administrative

Service (IAS) officer of 2011 batch. She has served

as the Collector of Daman, Union Territory of

Daman and Diu and Additional Secretary

(Education), Union Territory of Daman & Diu and

Dadar & Nagar Haveli. She is currently serving as

the Special Secretary (Education and Information &

Public Relations), Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh at the

Civil Secretariat, Itanagar.

Committee No.2

1. Sh. Ravi Gossain (Chairperson)

Ravi Gossain is a noted actor who works for movies

and TV serials. He has worked in popular serials

like Amanat and Sarhadein. He got recognized for

his role in 1996 Hindi movie Maachis, recently in

Shootout at Lokhandwala and also worked in Jat

(which got National Award). He has been doing

cultural workshops with kids for the last eight years

and also worked in theatre for 20 years. Currently,

he is working in a Hollywood film “Depth of the Darkness” as one of the main

characters.

2. Sh. Ballu Saluja (Member)

Ballu Saluja is a noted film editor who has worked

in several Bollywood blockbusters including Aamir

Khan-starrer Dangal, which has garnered around

Rs.2000 crore in box-office collection worldwide. He

has won many awards and two of his films have

gone for Oscars. His other films include Lagaan,

Swades, Jodha Akbar, Pinjar, R…Rajkumar etc.

3. Ms. Seema Gupta (Member) Seema Gupta is a senior executive from television industry and a strategic leader with 27 years of experience. She is former Chief Executive and Editor-in-Chief of Lok Sabha TV. She has conceived, created, and successfully launched five television channels in India. She has also conceived and directed various documentaries. She also headed the Zee News channel. She has been the Creative Head & Production Head of Zee. She also worked as Vice-President of an MNC in USA for four years.

4. Sh. Gyanendra Bartaria (Member)

Gyanendra Bartaria is a journalist who has worked

with various media houses of India.

Committee No.3

1. Sh. Sanjeev Hazorika (Chairperson)

Sanjeev Hazorika is a noted theatre and film actor and director from Assam. Some of his theatre directorial ventures include Maharaja, A Doll’s house, Night of January sixteen, Death of an Anarchist etc. His first film Haladhar won Indira Gandhi Award for Best first film of the Director in 39th National Film Festival 1992. He was member of the Jury for the selection of films for Indian Panorama, National Film Awards and Akashvani Annual Awards many a times. He was also a member of Script selection Committee of National Film Development Corporation.

2. Sh. Vinod Ganatra (Member)

Vinod Ganatra is a noted filmmaker, who is the only

Indian recipient of THE LIV ULLMANN PEACE PRIZE,

CHICAGO for his Gujarati film HARUN-ARUN. He has

edited and directed about 400 Documentaries & News

Reels. He has Produced 25 TV Programmes in Hindi,

Marathi & Gujarati for Children & Youth. He has also

made three Children Films for CFSI and these films

have won 29 National & International Awards. He is

a recipient of DADA SAHEB PHALKE - LIFETIME

ACHIEVEMENT AWARD conferred by ‘THE

ASSOCIATION OF FILM & VIDEO EDITORS’. He has 39 National & International

Awards to his credit. Widely travelled, he has served as Jury to 70 film festivals

all over the world. He was the Chairman of Non-feature Jury of National Film

Awards, 2016.

3. Sh. Varun Bhardwaj (Member)

Varun Bhardwaj is an Indian Information Service (IIS)

officer of 2008 batch. He is currently the Registrar of

Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. As a

civil servant, he has served in the Ministry of

Information and broadcasting and its media units

including the Press Information Bureau, All India radio

and Doordarshan News. He played a key role in the

setting up of the Social Media Communication Hub in

the New Media Wing in order to position the policies

and programmes of Government of India on the New

Media platforms.

4. Ms. Smita Mishra (Member)

Smita Mishra is currently working in Prasar Bharati

and looking after the News Analysis and Perspective

Wing. She has over 20 years experience in full time,

hardcore journalism. She has equal experience in TV

and print media. She has served in some of the

biggest media houses of the country.

Committee No.4

1. Sh. Dheeraj Sarna (Chairperson)

Dheeraj Sarna is a noted writer, producer and actor

working in media industry since last 20 years. He

has written more than 10,000 episodes for all

known channels like Star Plus, Zee TV, Colors etc.

He has written shows like " Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi

Bahu Thi " Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki " Kahin Toh

Hoga " Kutumb " Jodha Akbar " Kumkum Bhagya "

etc. He has also produced few shows under his

banner "Shoonya Square Production "Thapki Pyar

Ki” on Colors ran for 700 episodes, Ek Astha Aisee Bhi for Star Plus, Belan Wali

Bahu for Colors TV. He has written few movies and also acted in many TV shows.

2. Sh. Uday Shankar Pani (Member)

Uday Shankar Pani is a noted director of feature

films, documentaries, ad films, music videos etc.

Some of his notable works include ad films for Fair &

Lovely cream, Stardust, Videocon; several

documentaries of Films Division; TV serials like

Indradhanush, Dekh Bhai Dhek and feature films like

Samjhana (Nepali), Sansar (Bengali), The Hotel of

Dreams (German) etc. He was also the First Assistant

Director to Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi and

several other foreign productions.

3. Sh. Eken Riba (Member)

Eken Riba is a former Minister of State for Law, Justice

& Cooperation of Arunachal Pradesh. He was elected

to Basar Constituency in the year 1999-2004. He is

also the first person to become a Lawyer from

Arunachal Pradesh. He is currently one of the four State

Information Commissioners for the Government of

Arunachal Pradesh since January 2014.

4. Sh. Jiten Sarma (Member)

Jiten Sarma is a retired Manager (PP), Reserve Bank of

India, Guwahati. He is actively involved in theatre,

literature and films. He had also served the Editor of

several Assamese dailies, weeklies and monthlies. He

has acted in a number of dramas, TV and radio plays.

A short film “Seeta” written by him was screened at

Cannes Film Festival in France, 2015. He is also a

recipient of various literary and theatre awards.

Committee No.5

1. Sh. Gajendra Singh Chauhan (Chairperson)

Gajendra Singh Chauhan is a renowned television

and film actor. He is former Chairman of Film &

Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He is best

known for his portrayal of Yudhishthira in the

historical television series, Mahabharat (1988–90). He

has also been involved in the administration of

Cinema and Television Artists Association for 20

years, and served as its president for a year.

2. Prof. Hijam Tombi Singh (Member)

Prof. Hijam Tombi is former Vice-Chancellor of

Manipur University, Imphal and Founder Director,

Institute of Bio Resources & Sustainable

Development, Imphal. He is currently the Vice-

Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance

Academy, Imphal. He is also the Honorary Vice-

Chancellor of University of Bhagavata Culture and

Member of Raja Ram Mohon Roy Library Foundation

Board, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

3. Sh. Santosh Ajmera (Member)

Santosh Ajmera is an Indian Information Service (IIS)

officer who is presently Officer on Special Duty (OSD)

at National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM) of National

Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune. He has also

worked as Deputy Director of New Media Wing,

Ministry of I&B, Govt. of India in New Delhi.

4. Dr. Mangalam Swaminathan (Member)

Mangalam Swaminathan is Programme Director at

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA),

New Delhi.
