DEAR FRIENDS,

Addressing poverty has been a national focus for over 50 years. But we’ve been so busy serving the poor that we’ve

failed to ask ourselves the bigger question:

Why are people still poor at all? Why are stories of long-term success the exception and not the rule?

Beyond the hopelessness, constant shifting of scant resources, and system that deters self-sufficiency lies a bigger problem. Us. Every family’s poverty story is unique, but the services provided to them are not.

The brief progress produced by the machine of uncoordinated one-off services is a ruse, a tall-tale of success that simply isn’t good enough.

Disrupting this generations-long poverty narrative starts with us. Outdated methods and “business as usual” thinking won’t cut it.

At CCFW, we want life to be different for the people we serve. We want to help them write an end to their poverty stories. This requires a drastic shift in the way we serve and a willingness to be uncomfortable. And so, we’re tapping into the latest research, coordinating our services like

never before, and testing our methods in a way that holds us accountable.

We do this through new initiatives like our Hope Center, Workforce Services, Padua Pilot, and many more.

Every interaction Padua teams have with their clients is guided by the 12 asset framework - a strengths-based and holistic tool that takes into account all the resources necessary for long-term success. Below is the number of hours Padua teams spent on each asset.

Forty clients have finished their 90 day reassessment. The three assets with the lowest average score at the start are now the three showing the most improvement. These are also the assets Padua teams spent the most amount of time developing. After 90 days...
