Alison Davis Named Managing Shareholder of Littler’s Washington, D.C. Office

Three Honored with Wiley Branton Award
The National Bar Association has announced this year’s recipients of the Wiley A.
Branton Award will be Hon. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Larry Gibson and Ben Wilson.
The awards were presented at a reception on Thursday, November 1 at DLA Piper, in
conjunction with the day-long 24th Annual Wiley Branton Symposium at Howard’s
Law School. This year’s symposium focus was “Protest and Polarization: Law and
Debate in America, 2012.” The award, named in honor of attorney and civil rights
activist Wiley A. Branton, is presented to individuals who have demonstrated leader-
ship on the cutting edge of law for civil, social and economic justice. Congratulations
to this year’s recipients!
Green in 1982 at the age of 32 as a second-year associatein the Health Care and Life Sciences practice in the firm’sWashington, D.C., office. Over the years, he rose throughthe ranks and became the first African American minoritypartner at the firm. Today, Barnes is one of the key rain-makers and leaders at the firm and is well-respected in thehealth care industry among clients, peers, and colleagues.At EBG, Barnes currently serves as Co-Chair of the firm'sHealth Plan Compliance Group. He is also very active inindustry organizations and currently serves as a boardmember of the National Association of Health ServicesExecutives and the Medicaid Health Plans of America. Heis a member of the American Bar Association, the Ameri-can Health Lawyers Association, the American Society ofAssociation Executives, the District of Columbia Bar Asso-ciation, and the National Bar Association. Johnine Barnes Tapped to Join International Women’s Forum of Washington, D.C.
Johnine Barnes, a shareholder in the Labor & Employ-
ment Practice Group in Greenberg Traurig’s DC office,
has been invited to join the International Women’s Fo-
rum (IWF). The IWF advances leadership across ca-
reers, cultures and continents by connecting the world's
most preeminent women of significant and diverse
achievement. The IWF brings together an unprecedent-
ed global membership of 5,000 women leaders in 24
nations in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin
America, the Middle East and North America to ex-
change ideas, to learn and inspire, and to promote bet-
ter leadership for a changing world. Inclusion in the non-
profit is by invitation-only. Barnes is an active member
of the legal community in Washington, D.C. as well as
nationwide. Recently, she was named 2012
"Outstanding Outside Counsel of the Year" by the Na-
tional Bar Association Commercial Law Section and
listed in Super Lawyers magazine, Washington, D.C.

Monty Cooper Article on Twom bly and IqbalDecisions Published
Cooper’s article, was published in the Australian
Product Liability Reporter. As the title suggests,
the publication’s audience is generally made up of
Australian and international legal profession-
als. The article highlights the Supreme Court’s
decisions in Twombly and Iqbal, which require
plaintiffs to be more specific with allegations in
their complaints in federal court and their influence
on a recent California federal-court decision. Con-

Delaware Barristers’ Louis L. Redding Benefit and Awards Gala
The Delaware Barristers Association, the Delaware affiliate of the NBA, will hold its an-
nual dinner and awards gala on Friday, November 9, at the Hotel Dupont’s Gold Ball-

The Hispanic Bar Association of DC will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Equal

Girls, Inc. Benefit at Atlas Theater November 27
Girls Inc. of the Washington DC Metro Area will present its Fall Benefit, featuring the Off-
Broadway show, Fried Chicken and Latkes, at the Atlas Theater. The show, written and
performed by Rain Pryor, the daughter of Richard Pryor and Shelley Bonis, centers on
growing up bi-racial in America. The benefit will also honor Girls Inc.’s very own trailblaz-
ers Roselyn Payne Epps, MD, noted pediatrician and women's health advocate; and
Artis Hampshire-Cowan, Secretary and Senior Vice President, Howard University. Indi-
vidual tickets for this event can be purchased at the Atlas Theater box office or online.
Daily Record Leadership in Law Awards Celebration Nov. 15
The Maryland Daily Record’s Annual Leadership in Law Awards Celebration will be
held Thursday, November 15, 5:30 to 8:00pm at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve. This
year’s honorees include DPN’s own Ben Wilson. Tickets are $95 and can be pur-

The Annual William H. Karchmer Local High School Moot Court Competition, proudly
presented by the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project will be held Saturday,

Volunteers Needed—NBA Non-Partisan Election Protection
The NBA is continuing to recruit legal (attorneys, paralegals, and law students) volun-teers to staff the 866-Our-Vote hotline on November 5th and November 6th and assistvoters at polls by serving as Mobile Legal Volunteers monitoring a number of pollingplaces in target jurisdictions on Election Day. We are specifically targeting certain statesincluding: AZ, CO, FL, IL, LA, MD, MA (with potential reach to New Hampshire andMaine), MI, MN, MO, NM, NC, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, DC, and WI. California, Georgia,New York and Ohio are also target states, but we are in particular need of volunteers inthe other states.
