Principal’s Message Good afternoon Jesmond Public School. School Performance Last Thursday night our school hall was full of laughter, cheers and high spirits!!! I am so proud of the students and staff for showcasing their skills in performing arts. Each class performed an item linked to the theme Australia Our Island Home. A big thank you to Mrs Nineskvi and the team of staff who led the concert and our wonderful P &C for hosting the BBQ and collecting the gold coin donation. The school community raised approximately $450 to contribute to a new sound system for the hall. Congratulations.
Book Fair The Book Fair was very successful. We raised approximately $1700 from the sales. Thank you for your support. Due to high sales we were able to choose $536 worth of books for our school library. Five Cent Challenge This is the last week for the 5 cent challenge to run. If you have any spare change please send it in to your classroom and the winning class will choose the new bell music! Student Elections for 2020 The process to elect student leaders for 2020 is underway and we have an impressive group of candidates. Posters have been displayed under the COLA and speeches will take place in Week 7. The timeline for this process is as follows: Wednesday 20 November - Speeches due to Miss Herdegen Wednesday 27 November – Girls’ speeches Thursday 28 November – Boys’ speeches and voting Wednesday 4 December - Successful candidates’ parents notified. Thursday 5 December - Successful candidates’ announced at Presentation Day. Not Returning in 2020 If you know that you will not be returning to Jesmond Public School in 2020 could you please contact the Administration office. This assists the school in class structures and staff allocation next year. Thank you.

Social Media Social media is an innovative tool to communicate, inform and connect the community. We use Facebook and our school website to highlight teaching and learning. I use Twitter to showcase our achievements. Schools must seek parental consent to publish any images of any student within any social channel. It is important that parents/carers respect the school values and Department of Education Social Media policy, that being you do not have permission to post a photo of any child at Jesmond PS; only your own son or daughter. Please remember we have some students who do not give the school authority to print due to exceptional circumstances or child protection issues. P&C AGM The Jesmond Public School P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 3 December at 6pm in Ms Herdegen's room. The following positions will be up for election: - President - Treasurer - Secretary - Fundraising co-ordinator/Vice President - Communications co-ordinator/Vice President Please join us at the next meeting. Pedestrian safety and road safety for kids Until the age of 11-12 years, children need active adult supervision to help them safely navigate driveways, cars, roads and car parks. Even children who seem to know all the road safety rules won’t necessarily remember to follow them. You can also teach your child about road safety, including how to be safe around parked cars and on footpaths and driveways. Your child will learn about pedestrian safety by watching you, please model safe behaviour. Enjoy your week. Deborah Kelly Book Fair Our 2019 Book Fair was our most successful Book Fair to date. We sold more than $1700 worth of products. Our school receives a percentage of sales so we were able to enhance our library with a generous amount of quality new books. Thank you to all our parents and community members who supported this event.
Library News This week is the last week that students can borrow from our library. Please ensure library books are returned next week so we can begin our annual stock take.
