and exposes students to the changing needs of the global society. Agriculture plays a vital role in India's economy. Over 58 per cent of the rural households depend on agriculture as their principal means of livelihood. Agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, is one of the largest contributors to the GDP. Keeping in view of the growing demand, Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, has “Division of Agricultural Economics & Agri-Business Management”, which undertakes the MBA (Agri-Business Management) degree programme. The course is designed to provide an ideal learning opportunity for youths to become Agri-Business professionals and thereby meet the needs of the growing industry. It endeavors to endow with skillful training, a vigorous outlook and a sociable spirit in character to face challenging situations in career and life.
Our aim is to create a knowledgeable, loyal and dedicated human resource having zeal to work hard and capacity to overcome difficulties that are capable of providing insightful direction to any organization. As a potential student of MBA (ABM) degree program, anybody would feel pride in being part of this. About MBA (Agri-Business Management)
The MBA (ABM) degree programme was initially started through establishment of School of Agri-Business Management (SABM), an integral part of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) on 19th Nov.2012 on self sustainable basis after its approval in 8th University Council meeting latter keeping in view of its demand, a full-fledged division was created as Division of Agricultural Economics and Agri-Business Management with the sole aim to initiate MBA (ABM) degree programme for generating professionally competent, socially responsible and technically qualified human capital with core management competencies in Agri-Business besides to boost the research and academic activity of agricultural economics, which is an integral part of ABM studies. The MBA (Agri-Business) is a 2 year full time degree programme spread for four semesters and is offered to any graduate from the recognized university. The courses have been designed in such a way so as to provide ideal learning opportunities for youths to become agribusiness professionals in order to meet the needs of the growing industry and the course structure mainly focuses on core courses, general elective courses, industrial elective courses, which includes Farm Engineering, Food Industry, Hi- tech Agriculture, Horticulture Industry, Input Supply, Vet. Pharmaceutical and Livestock Industry, deficiency courses for those who are other than agricultural and allied streams. Besides summer internship/industrial attachments for improving the managerial capacity through practical approach having exposure to application of knowledge with the output of preparing the report.
The MBA (Agri-Business Management) programme SKUAST-Jammu is having the sole vision to build and sustain a unique management institute of international standards capable of churning out a new class of devoted Agripreneurs and Agribusiness Managers kindled with fire and endowed with state-of-art management knowledge and competence to serve the nation devoutly in a climate that fosters personal and group creativity and excellence.
• To build core management expertise among the technically competent agricultural/other graduates to own and manage sustainable Agri-Business enterprises.
• To develop entrepreneurial spirits, managerial skills and competence among the students for sustainable agribusiness enterprises.
• To understand dynamics and complexities of the field of Agri-Business in the emerging global context.
Vision
Objectives
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu came into existence on 20th September, 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act, 1982 through the State Legislature. The establishment of SKUAST of Jammu has in its background aspirations, commitment and missionary zeal to cater the needs of Jammu Division for the region specific advances through education, research and extension. With the generous and constant patronage of Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor; Central & State Government and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the University is marching ahead for increasing agricultural production and productivity with overall economic enhancement of farmers of Jammu division. SKUAST-J is a multi-campus university with headquarter located at Chatha, Jammu. Since its inception, the University has grown with rapid pace in terms of infrastructure and human resource. The Campus at Chatha comprises of modern main faculty building housing 13 divisions, one school, administrative block, conference hall, central library. The faculty of Agriculture and faculty of Basic Science at Chatha has 231.2 ha. land. Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry at R. S. Pura has 33.6ha land holding 17 divisions that has full fledged academic block, modern veterinary clinical complex, a class room cum examination complex, library and hostel for boys and girls to cater the needs of faculty and students undergoing various degree programmes in animal science disciplines. There are eight research stations/sub-stations and six KVKs in the university which are located in different agro-climatic zones of Jammu region of the state for catering to the location-specific needs of the farming community. The total land holding (including research stations/sub-stations and KVKs) of the university is 455.65 ha. University pursues high standard research through research projects funded by various central and state agencies.

The MBA (Agri-Business Management) is a 2 year full time degree programme spread for four semesters. During the first year the programme undertakes the teaching on core courses Agribusiness Environment, Management & Organizational Behaviour, Managerial Economics, Accounting, Production & Operation Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management Communication of Management and Business, Research Methodologies in Business Management, Business Laws and Ethics, Financial Management, International Trade and Management Information System besides summer internship/industrial attachment are planned for improvement of the managerial capacity through practical approach having exposure to application of knowledge with the output of preparing the report. During the second year, the core courses as Agri Supply Chain Management, Project Management and Entrepreneurship Development and Strategic Management coupled with optional and elective package of courses offered for the specialization in subject area of interest.The annual intake capacity of the programme is 15 seats in an Academic year.
Any Graduate from the recognized University with 60% marks having degree as specified in Diversity Factor Table.
A multistage selection procedure is followed for admission as described below:• All applicants fulfilling eligibility criteria are supposed to
submit the CAT/CMAT/MAT score card before the last date as and when admission notification is issued by the university.
• Merit list is generated for calling candidates for group discussion, personal interview etc. by adding the diversity factor.
• Diversity factor weightage is assigned to various academic disciplines as per the list given in the DFT.
Candidates shall be called for group discussion, personal interview and other testing parameters indicated in below mentioned table for different categories. The final merit list is prepared based on the following selection parameters and respective weightage as given below:

AC fitted classrooms are well equipped with writing boards, comfortable sitting arrangement, well ventilated windows etc. Air conditioning and LCD projectors systems also available.
The University has a central library at main campus Chatha and faculty library at R. S. Pura campus. The university library is wi-fi enabled, having access to 2900 online journals through CeRA consortium, other open access databases and Internet services. The Central library also has
e-Kiosk facility for accessing the database of literature. The university has around 26468 books, 85 periodicals and 550 dissertations. The Central library at Chatha and faculty library at R. S. Pura are equipped with 30 KWA Solar Power back-up . The division is also having the provision of Departmental Library.
The University is having central computer lab with high speed internet facility. Besides, the division is having the provision of separate computer lab and seminar cum meeting hall.

Student Exposure And Placements : In an endeavour to
improve the practical and field situation capacity building of
