The Jesus Deck Major Jacquie Hanover - DDE

Do you have a particular interest in reaching out to those in our communities who are spiritually aware and seeking for spiritual engagement? Perhaps they attend spiritual fairs, or have had spiritual experiences but are not so familiar with the story of Jesus and perhaps even sceptical of the

traditional Church and Christian Spirituality. Have you heard of the Jesus Deck? It is a new and well researched resource in a familiar form to many such people, aimed at telling the Christian message in a way that will connect. The Church of England is currently using this resource as one of its Fresh Expressions. Here is a link if you'd like to know more. http://thejesusdeck.blogspot.co.uk/ There are already eight people in our Division who would like to be trained to use The Jesus Deck and so we are going to hold a training event during the first half of 2014. We’ll advertise the date and venue in advance. If you are interested please contact: [email protected]

50 FURTHER RESOURCES

ilearn for Volunteers The following modules are now available to volunteers, and

are suitable to form part of their induction:

Equality & Diversity (short course)

Meeting the Threat of Fire

Avoiding Violence (includes advice on safe lone working)

Safeguarding

To access these modules, volunteers need an ilearn login.

This can be requested for them by their corps officer/centre

manager/community manager/charity shop manager

(provided the requester has an SA UKAD account) using the

following InfoNet page:

https://infonet.salvationarmy.org.uk/businessadministration

/si/SIlearning/Lists/ilearn%20Client%20%20Volunteer%20Acco

unt%20request/NewForm.aspx

SI Service Desk will process the request and send the login credentials for the volunteer to the person who requested the login, so that they take responsibility for passing these to the

volunteer. Whilst volunteers can then access ilearn from any location (not necessarily an SA computer), it is advisable for them to be supervised when using ilearn. NB: Volunteers who have a SA UKAD account (e.g. a SA employee in another location) will already have an ilearn login. Please do not request a new login in this case - the volunteer should request a reminder/reset of their info from the ilearn homepage if they have forgotten their credentials.
