VISA SUPPORT

Depending on your nationality and the country you are visiting, you may require a visa prior to travel with #DMUglobal. DSU Advice will be running information sessions throughout October and November for students that require a Schengen visa or entry to the US. The sessions will cover the rules of applying for a visa, and the documents and evidence required for the application process. Sim-ply choose the one that suits you and turn up on the day. No prior registration is necessary. Visit our website to find out when you can attend the next session.

TEACH ENGLISH ABROAD WITH #DMUGLOBAL

We are offering DMU students the chance to gain an accredited TEFL qualification with TEFL.org. The qualification will equip you with the skills to teach English overseas and potentially travel the world. Once you have completed your course there will be opportunities to work in local schools by volunteering with DMU Square Mile, whilst also gaining teaching experience overseas with #DMUglobal. You can study the 50-hour combined course (classroom and online study) for only £50 with #DMUglobal (RRP £239). Apply from Monday 2 October via our website to start your course on Saturday 9 December 2017.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

Following the success of last year, we will be running the #DMU-global New York trip in January 2018. This opportunity is for final year undergraduate students with 1,000 places available to spend an exciting five days in the Big Apple. We are offering a wide range of academic trips to enrich your studies, plus an exciting mix of cultural activities to enhance your cultural awareness. Final year students can get more details and apply for this opportunity via our website from Monday 2 October.

In addition, we will be organising mass trips to Hong Kong in March 2018 for second year students, and Berlin in June 2018 for first year undergraduates.

The deadline to apply for classes starting this term is Monday 16 October, 9am. Apply from Monday 25 September via the #DMUglobal website.

STUDENT-LED OPPORTUNITES

Did you know your society or club can organise its very own #DMUglobal trip? Last year we supported 10 student-led op-portunities to a variety of destinations globally. We encourage DSU societies and sports clubs to come up with creative and innovative proposals for overseas trips. Your society could volunteer with a local charity, attend a conference, compete in a tournament, or even engage with local universities. Last year, the DMU Dragons Volley-ball Club organised a visit to São Paulo in Brazil, where they worked with a charity to help the local community and trained with local Brazilian volleyball teams to enhance their skills and knowledge of the game.

To start organisging your society’s next overseas trip, submit your proposal by Monday 28 November, 9am via our website.

ADDITIONAL FUNDING

Students in need of additional financial support due to their circumstances, have the opportunity to apply for extra funding, as we believe everyone should have the chance to go overseas with #DMUglobal. We give special consideration to students facing financial difficulties; students with dependents; students that have a disability or medical condition, and students from a background in care. For more information about deadlines and how to apply for additional funding, visit the #DMUglobal website.
