What is place value?
• Place value chart- shows the value of the digits in a number
• Period- in greater numbers each group of three is divided with a comma is called a period
• Place value- name and value of a number in a certain position
• Standard form- is the way a number is commonly written

Pattern?
• When the number goes from ones to tens it is multiplied by 10
• When the tens are multiplied by 10 it becomes 100.• When the hundreds are multiplied by ten it becomes
1000.

• In your groups using the unit cubes, display these numbers and draw them as well as you can in your journals. – 1,532– 25– 862– 712
What is a base system?
• We use the base system of 10. • This means that in the number 456
– There are 6 ones (1 X 6)– The value in the tens is 50 (5x10)– The value in the hundreds is 400 (4*100)
• Each number gets multiplied by 10 to find its value in a number.
